Settlers 7:
Many new ideas, but they just don't work well, I liked Settlers 6 though.
You get only a handful of maps ? forgot how many but less than 10, that is just too little for that price.
And you have to register with EA? and can only play the game when beeing online with them.

Aion (original with no expansion):
Forced pvp and poor attempt at westernizing it. Oh and the 10 hour login waits.

Civilization 5:
A more boring and slow version of all the previous civs, now in hexa dimension grid.
Everything is the same, just with a bit more detail and rounds that take so long you forget what your plans were.
Have to register civ 5 with Steam is the only way to be allowed to play it .. it is now bound to your Steam account and can never be unbound (official reply).

Oblivion:
Might be stepping on some toes, but having played mmorpgs for a decade, Oblivion was just BLEH. Graphics were ok but only as good as the best mmorpgs, handling was awful with the stupid 1st person view that works so poorly in Oblivion. For a mmorpg gamer Oblivion will feel rather simple.

Sid Meyers Railroads:
The "newest" version of railroad tycoon. If the game actually worked, it would not be so bad but the railroad line laying can't be done so your trains do what is expected (dont take my word for it, it is common knowledge on forums). So I opened my old drawer and found Railroad Tycoon 2 Gold, which .. yes you guessed it is not made by firafax/sid meyer.

Dragon Age origins:
A step downwards from the great bioware tradition of Baldurs gate and NeverWinterNights series. Poor combat handling, your characters always does silly things even after all AI is turned off. Extremely linear console like gameplay, and the story line is not quite up to standard with older games from Bioware. And then the reminder to buy extra content in thegame .. urrgh that is a turnoff. Looking at videos and reviews from DA2 really made me doubt Bioware as the quality game maker they have always been.

Ah-

hm, umm. Well, this is awkward.
I know right, it's like seeing an albino... at the dinner table. Surprising & awkward.

Portal 2. Don't get me wrong, it's a good game, but it has no replay value. I really should have just rented it.
User created levels soon to come pouring in for that so you'll get more value there.
If the PS3 gets them, and it should be able to stand on its own feet without the customers creating content for it.

I'm sure once the DLCs hit I'll be glad I bought it, followed by the regret of not just renting it.
Well you have it on ps3 so you have it on pc too then. As for standing on its own feet, thats just a wierd statement. How is user created content not a good bonus? Hell if i knew about this before hand it would have been a selling point, don't know if i just missed it. Plus the first dlc is going to be free anyway so I'm just saying longevity was your main problem and there is a hell of a lot more in this game working towards fixing that then any other game not called LBP.

Oddly enough, I got my two worst games for FREE and I still felt like I wasted away on them.

Mercenaries 2. Garbage. I played for about two hours, calling in air strikes and shooting random passerbys until I was like "the fuck is this shit?" and turned it off.

Prince of Persia, the reboot series. You know, the one that had no follow-up for its reboot series, and the entire "reboot" idea went down the drain? Well, there was a reason for that. I played that for only TEN MINUTES before I said "the fuck is this shit?"

But I did get fifteen dollars back from trading them in. To date, it's the only Gamestop trade I have made that didn't feel like a total rip.

The game won't run on my pc(this thing is almost 11 years old).

User created content is always a bonus, but I think the game should be able to stand up without it, and Portal 2 wouldn't make the cut for me. It's a great, solid game with decent length and a good story, but you can't play it over and over and get a different experience each time.

I think I really bought the game because of the hype. I liked the first Portal(having rented the Orange Box. Portal 2 is my first owned Valve game) I knew that it wouldn't have much, if any, replay value, but I went for it anyway. Oh well. I can play it again in a few years when I've forgotten how each puzzle is solved.

Alone in the Dark (2008) EVERYTHING was terrible. Evil trees? They can do better that that, surely!

Mass Effect 2 - I probably would have liked it a lot more if I hadn't played Mass Effect. The developers took out most of the things I really liked such as being able to customize equipment in a very meaningful way, the Mako, infinite ammo for both sides, etc.

Bioshock, I felt so limited in that game and that my character wasn't getting any stronger. I absolutely hated that Mana didn't recharge, that an enemy could fire 47 times I would kill them and only get 3 rounds, but if I reloaded that area and I killed them before they could get a shot off I still only got 3 bullets. Where is the rest of my ammo? Also bullets seemed to do far more damage to me than to enemies.

Borderlands.
Hated it. Hated it soooooo much. Probably would have enjoyed it more with a friend, but haven't had a chance yet. I just found it so boring.. yea, theres some crazy treasure vault thing somewhere on this planet.. and yea theres a lot of guns... but none of them really feel different enough to justify the amount.. and the story is...well.. not there.

The Orange Box on PS3 has too many framerate drops.
Borderlands is only good once in a while when friends are online.

final fantasy 13, hands down. that game was fucking terrible, it scarred me. i cannot buy a game at full price or pre order anymore because of the sheer disapointment of that game.

EDIT: i forgot about sacred 2: fallen angel. that game was just so boring and meaningless another £40 down the fricking drain.

I think you have a problem.

Step 1: No more preorders
Step 2: Gamefly
Step 3: Read more Reviews
The problem is that most of those games are good rated in most reviews. I was dissapointed for JUST CAUSE, the game is just not engaging, wish Just Cause 2 is good

Just Cause 1 - It felt like a low-rent GTA without enough interesting things to keep me entertained.
Burnout Paradise - Watching crash animations gets boring after a while, plus there's almost no feeling of advancement.
Command and Conquer 3 - Sure it was fun at first, but it had no lasting appeal.
Left 4 Dead 1 - To be fair, I bought it right before L4D2 came out.
