Any RTS ( except halo wars , i hate halo so much i can't respect any game with the word halo in it , i will be the bigger man and admit it is unjustified hate since i have never played a halo game )

RTS is interestIng as a genre , but i just don't have the time to go through a half hour battle . But the masters of these types of games earn my respect tenfold. Same thing applies to fighting games , can't be bothered to master a character or 2 ( although i will try when UMvC comes out ).

Pretty much any stealth-based game with the sole exception of Splinter Cell: Conviction. I've tried and tried to play so many different stealth games (virtually every MGS, Splinter Cell & Thief) and while I can plainly see that they're "good games", they always feel so obtuse and inaccessible to me, so I don't play them. Conviction is the only stealth game that has felt varied and accessible enough for me to see it through to the end. It had a great, easy to follow plot too, especially considering it's the latest of god-knows-how-many games.

Starcraft 1/2 for sure, I understand how you get to the top but I'm not willing to do the 1000 clicks per second training to get there.

Shoot-em-up's, I understand the memory and dexterity skills required but that is not my thing

Punishing platformers, I will not replay the entire damn level for every minor error, just no.

To many to write here all, but i will give some examples:

All civilization series
All Half life series
All call of duty excellent the first one
All Elder scrolls series

Just to name a few.
The list goes on and on, to play all the games in all the systems we have today,
first we had to have lots of money and 250 hours days :)
And never eat or sleep :)

Team Fortress 2.

I simply can't get into it, I love their humor, my friends play it, but when I try to play it I just get frustrated and confused. I don't have that problem when playing CoD, but funnily enough my friend who loves TF2 can't get into CoD.

Guess they're just two different kinds of FPS's.

World of Warcraft, I used to play it for a while but it just grew tedious for me but I can definitely see the appeal.

Gran Turismo.

Props to the devs for making this incredibly detailed game. I will never play it though :(

I have to agree with you on the Mess Effect front.
Generally though I'm quite elitist, if I don't like it, I don't respect it.

Starcraft 2, Monster Hunter, and most RTS games to be honest, I just panic too much in them, and in the case of MH, well, those pink gorillas who fling poo at thee are scary.

Counter Strike. It's insanely popular, so it must be doing something right, but I just think Team Fortress is probably better

Mass Effect. I have alot of friends that play it, but I just don't. I understand it's an epic sci-fi game, and I've tried to like it, I WANT to like it but just never clicked with me when I played it. I'm not trying to find some smug way to say it's bad, I'm aware it's great and probably better than half the games I play, I just don't know why I don't like it.
Exactly this.

Also, Metal Gear Solid and Final Fantasy. I tried MGS and wanted to like it, but it just bored me, and seemed like it was trying way too hard to be a bit 'weird' and 'different' to actually be enjoyable at the same time. Which is annoying, because I like a lot of the ideas it has.

Final Fantasy just has the (personal) flaw of being a JRPG. I hate the characters, dialogue and combat system, but FF VII in particular has some interesting ideas and I love the setting. I respect the series mostly for how ambitious it's been over the years, shifting noticeably to fit changing audiences rather than becoming stagnant *cough* Call of Duty *cough*, and I admire some of the ideas it has, but when it comes to important part-how fun it is to play-it falls short, for me.

I have to agree with the OP on Mass Effect. I've tried playing it, and enjoyed sections, but the combat is clunky, the checkpoints are poorly spaced (for example, putting a long cutscene with dialogue choices right before a semi-hard fight with no cover and no chance to save). I really tried to like it, and I respect that it has a good story, but I just can't get into it.
I've never got into any of their new games (read; since x360) but I stick with in to the end because... to prove a point I guess. I still don't like any of their games, but I can respect that their huge fan-base didn't come there for no reason. It's still daunting to think that there will be a DA3 and a ME3. Now I have to soldier through them too. ¬_¬

Ico and Shadow of the Colossus. I haven't play it due to the fact I don't have the console to play it on (and my bro doesn't bring the games over).

Deus Ex.
Hate the gameplay, the graphics, the story, the voice acting, but I can certainly see what it did for the action/rpg genre.
It did nothing. There has been almost no new games in the action/rpg category that hold as much as a candle to the calibre of Deus Ex. ¬_¬
Any attempts to replicate it either becomes 100% action sci-fi, or 100% rpg sci-fi, of which both lack in the deep story-line that actually has an effect/references the real world. It just becomes a sci-fi fantasy all together with made-up shit that in no way can be related to because it has no background in the society as we already know it.

Illuminati, a behind-the-scenes organisation that presumably control most of the modern world without anyone knowing.

Compare that to all the other hidden organisations that have been invented in games since to create a sense of fear of "who do I trust" and then they forget that the reason it worked in Deus Ex was because the audience could actually think about the world outside gaming because they knew who the illuminati was before they picked up the game. An eye-opener so to speak. Conspiracy stories works well when the audience can actually relate to them.

P.s. blasphemer!!

p.s.s. giggidy.

Starcraft 2. I can't play it for the life of me, but the pro players must be amazing multi taskers.
Probably this I would be a complete spaz at it but I give kudos to the top players. It must be like really crazy chess... with aliens.
