I'm pretty sure that Yahtzee doesn't like videogames. Like, at all. I'm pretty sure he's made that abundantly clear by now...
of course he like video games, just not many

and of the select few just the one with the smallest list of bad things

and ones that dont contain Quick Time Events

err, maybe you're right actually

Eternal Darkness? It certainly nails horror.
However, based on a reference to Beneath A Steel Sky and Tex Murphy, I'm guessing he is a fan of point-and-click 2d games. Perhaps the newer Sam and Max? It has some rub-everything-on-everything aspects, but the answers are always close enough that it doesn't seem like a complete ass-pull.
Also, LIBERAL CRIME SQUAD! It's sorta like Saints Row, only menu-based and feels a bit like a job at times. But, being put on trial for 467 counts of murder, 143 counts of terrorism, 58 counts of kidnapping, 20 counts of resisting arrest, 4 counts of vandalism, and disturbing the peace may be the most satisfying moment possible from a freeware text-based RPG.

Note also: In a pinch, story can slide. Note Painkiller ("you're here, you want to go there, demons in between, KILL THEY ASS.") and Portal 1.

Also re: Fire Emblem. It's closer to Advance Wars style gameplay, IMO, and thus no linear corridors, he'd probably like that.

With those both said, however, I don't have any suggestions that he hasn't already reviewed. (Maybe Trenched? I've heard that's good, and it's by Double Fine which might be a point in its favor, but I've also heard it's an RTS, and he's made his opinion clear on those)
Actually it's a mech/ tower defense game.

I have a feeling he's not going to hate Silent Hill: Downpour as much as he disliked Homecoming and Origins.

Front Mission 4. Not that he'd necessarily 'love' it, but it is excellent turn-based strategy in the vein of Valkyria Chronicles, and provides the opportunity for him to tackle two subjects I've wanted to see addressed- accents in games and giant mechs.

Hunch my ass, you watched everyone of those reviews, the portal one being in orange box and the sands of time being in the prince of persia retrospective. You aren't nostradamus. I think yahtzee would enjoy that game he imagined in his fake duke nukem forever review. I also really think he'd enjoy armed and dangerous due to the fact that it has a gun that shoots motherfucking sharks. I wish I could make something like that up it shoots motherfucking sharks, it could only be more awesome if it also shot shurikens and lightning, had tits, and was on fire.

You really herped to the seventh ring of derp there in that little outburst... it was clearly a joke.

I think Yahtzee should check out the game where he stops being a raging tard and learns about games & gaming in general.

Like that'll happen. *Eye roll*

I lolled.

He hates murmorpuggers BUT I think he would enjoy levelling a rogue just purely by doing battlegrounds. It's like the most fun sneakiness ever. You get that same thrill of stealth games when you manage to for example; infiltrate warsong hold and kill a druid being guarded by a paladin through effective use of cooldowns or ninja the flag and be across the field before anyone has even moved. Also, no grinding kill 20 boars etc quests and no requirement to be online 24/7. I don't play WOW anymore but that's something I really enjoyed.

I would love to see him review Little King's Story on the Wii. It's a Pikmin style game me and a friend really enjoyed but its cutesiness would probably make Yahtzee implode with fury.

Sorry. It's late at night and my sarcasm sense has derped itself.

one i'd think he might enjoy, even with a ugly review he would be able to make of it, would be Amnesia: Dark descent. its a great survival horror game, has its flaws, but its a horror game where you are supposed to be stealthy or die horribly. yeah i think he would defently appreciate that.

Saints Row The Third is coming out later this year, and it looks to be even more wacky, unrestrained fun than Saints Row 2. So I'll just guess that'll he'll probably like it.

Okay, this is actually quite simple. Take all the games he has reviewed thus far and bitched the least at. Now look up what genre they are and keep a tally, the one that has the most after this experiment is the winrar. Oh and btw, he hates JRPGs with a passion. It doesn't matter if it's unlike anything the world has ever known, if it has that "J" before "RPG" he's probably going to stick his nose up at it and walk away.

He seems like a cat almost. XD
Someone didn't watch the FF13 review. HINT: There's more too it than just talking about how bad FF13 is.
Apparently someone doesn't listen too closely to them either. Dude, just cause he reviewed it doesn't mean he liked it. Yes I know he said he liked them when he was a kid, but when you're a game reviewer (a popular one at that) JRPG's (or any RPG's for that matter) are a subject that you would probably want to stay away from because they take the longest to play. And RPGs are essentially the same thing anyway: quests and leveling up. I'd say that only things that really separate a JRPG from a WRPG would be character design, plot twists, and graphics.

BTW, did you even read my last statement? I basically said that he's more likely to review big titles (or over-hyped ones) that are coming out and FF13 just happened to be one of them.

He might like planescape torment, it has arguably the best story in a videogame, ever. The world is pretty interactive and open. The gameplay is 30-40% adventure game 60-70% d&d

I would love to hear Yahtzee review one of the .Hack games, just to hear the the hilarious criticisms i'm sure he would have of the games.
also yes
The game isn't even out yet and you already think yathzee will like it? That's like opening a round of russian roulette with six bullets in the chambers.
Edit: Oops, quoted wrong post. My bad.

People who say Yahtzee hates games clearly haven't seen much of him, or read Extra Punctuation. He's a critic, not a reviewer. It's his job to nitpick and focus on the bad points. (And on that note, he has said he likes some JRPGs in one of his columns.)

I can't recommend many games, since my tastes are very different than his (I love JRPGs and hate shooters and horror), but I do know two games that I think would be to his taste: Pathologic and The Void. The former is an absolutely chilling psychological horror game, the latter is an artistic survival/resource management game. Articles about them:

Butchering Pathologic: Part 1, the Body [http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2008/04/10/butchering-pathologic-part-1-the-body/]
