I don't buy any game with always-online DRM. So no Diablo 3 or Assassin's Creed 2 (until the removed it). Fortunately this is yet to prevent me from getting something I really want. Touch wood.

I also refuse to buy Left 4 Dead 2 because of the Australian censorship thing, which is kind of silly since not buying it has absolutely no effect on the people who censored it.
This. Always-on DRM is a deal breaker for me. I'm boycotting all Ubisoft titles because they started this and have consistently been jerks about it.

Why not used? Or even just borrow a friend's copy?

This is petty, I know but I've bumped into several games over the last few years that based on their history I've flat out refused to buy. I'm deathly afraid that contributing to these games in the slightest could cause another atrocious sequal or series disfiguration in the future.

For instance:

I haven't bought Assassin's Creed: Revelations and I don't ever plan on it. Its sad watching a series that could go anywhere ANYWHERE with such a good start fall to the trap of yearly game making and overusing the same two protagonist. Assassin's Creed II is one of my favorite games of all time and if Ubisoft finally drops Altair and Ezio (off the face of the flat earth) I'll consider it. But as of now Assassin's Creed is dead to me. So maybe if I don't buy AC:R maybe some other people won't either and Ubisoft will get the hint and go back to making better, less thoughtless games.

Any Call of Duty after Modern Warfare 1. I've played a few of the more recent ones. But $15 map packs, really? Call of Duty Elite? Yearly unimprovements? And how many dlc packs did you say you were going to release for MW:3? Plus its not like they need my help with sales anyway.

I may rent the next Fable (not getting the kinect only one) but Lionhead really lost me after Fable 3. Trying to appeal to everyone, more specifically kids (which is odd because you're rated M) made me reconsider our relationship. You'd have to do a lot more next time to impress me, Molyneux.

Simply because it's not Dante. Seriously, he's an alternate reality clone or something! Not to mention the emo haircut, he smokes and he doesn't even sound or act like him. The gameplay does look pretty good and pretty but thats all they're getting out of me. Buy the HD remakes. You'll enjoy them much more than this poor excuse for a sequal reboot prequal alternate universe outsourcing of a mess.

These are just some of the more recent ones and I don't think I'll change anything by not participating but hell, I can try.

TL;DR
Has anybody else been so traumatized by a game in the past that you've flat out refused to indulge the devs by buying any future games?
Take it from someone who played it, Altair barely features. And that is probably the last you will see to both of them, youknow...

Since Ezio was done dead in that movie thing and Altair died in the game and the Ezio retired in the game

I think it was a nice addition, they had some cool features. And your opinion seems something that came out of ZP and you judging the game by its trailer even though Deus Ex - Human Revolution. Should have taught you that we sadly lost that ability with the 3-a games.A long, long. Time ago.

I'm not going to buy Mass Effect 3 and I will not buy any EA game simply on a matter of principle. I love Bioware. Let me repeat: I FUCKING LOVE BIOWARE. I've played more KOTOR and Mass Effect 1/2 than I think I have every single other game put together, maybe excluding Bethesda games. But I can't fucking do it anymore.
Bioware was one of the greats! Jade Empire mesmerized me it was the perfect game. I really tried to like the Mass Effect series, finished 1 and 2, but it's just not nearly as good...

I know that protesting and boycotting is something we gamers do
Not all gamers; only the ones willing to cut their noses off to spite their faces.

By all means, if you don't like a game/series, don't buy it, but "protesting" against a particular publisher, and missing out on good games because of it is something I'll never get my head around. Mainly because for every protestor, there'll be hundreds of people still buying the game(s), so no publisher is going to lose any sleep over the lack of your £40 in their profits.

I general don't boycott a game with bad publishers or on moral high-ground, I just get it used later. I get the game and the people who I refuse to hand my money to never see a penny, a win-win situation there.

However I refuse to play any MMOs because of my own bad habit of becoming addicted to them, as well as a dsilike towards people buying power. Also no more Pokemon games, as far as I'm concerned the series is dead now and nothing they do will bring it back.

Also, the 3-DS. I don't want headaches and having to wear 3-D glasses when playing a game, I already have to wear my regular ones!

Well, I'm not too keen on games that require Origin (although none of them were tempting so far). Also I didn't buy Assassins Creed 2.5/2.75 and newer CoD titles. I feel they're stagnating and don't offer enough to justify their price tag. It's not a protest, more like saturation with that particular series and personal lack of interest.

I don't refuse to buy any game. I'll buy anything, so long as it's good. All of the angry people shouting about boycotts and protests have put me off of doing any entirely just because it would make me look like them. Without meaning to directly insult anyone in this thread, it just seems so childish. And, while I can understand for stuff like Origin, some of the reasons people come up with are genuine balls-to-the-wall retarded.

The fact that Assassin's Creed ties up both Altair in and Ezio's storylines....

I do find it horrible that the fans wanted more of Ezio, and that damn company delivered. What nerve. Instead of ignoring the fans....

Dante was overrated to begin with. That you are whining about the new Dante being emo makes me wonder if you know what emo is, given Dante's prior shtick.

To answer the question, I'm done with THQ after they removed a ton of stuff from the Saints Row series and locked it behind DLC.

You don't HAVE to wear glasses for the 3DS.

Can't help you with the headaches, though.

AH, I was under the impression that most 3-D based stuff needed glasses, or some way to get the 3-D right, my mistake. However as you said there's little help with 3D and I do get headaches from that sort of thing.

1. Anything with Call of Duty in the title
2. Anything with Battlefield in the title
3. Anything with Metal of Honour in the title
4. Kinda agree with the Assassin's Creed series. They kinda feel old and overused now. Was bored of Ezio after 2. Even moreso after 3. Not buying 4 or next years game until they start putting out some new chars.
5. Anything by Bethesda until they employ some people to test the games before release. Fool me once. Fallout 3. Fool me twice Skyrim. Fool me thrice...um....whatever.
6. Mass Effect 3. Only due to me not wanting to buy either a new PC or a 360 in order to play the first game in the series. From what I've heard it's pretty much required
7. Any Fifa or yearly sports game like Hockey, Armour Rugby (Madden) or Basketball. Actually throw WWE games in there too.

Evrerything from EA. I hate that company. Origin, their marketing, how they have 5 AAA shooters on the go, just to beat CoD... No. No more.

At this point most "Mainstream" companies have placed themselves on my do-not-buy list. Ubisoft/EA are at the top of the list with Activision struggling to make its way to the top through questionable practices. Most new games today just aren't worth my time or money. Because they don't have any effort or creativity in them. Just another recycled graphics showcase. And if they DO manage to run anything differently its usually just one thing. Bioware looked like it was going to break the mold but has added itself to the list by deciding to become lazy and ride the wave of success instead of trying to improve things.

Right now and for the past decade the only large scale game company that hasn't pissed me off one way or another is Valve. So to say the least I support alot of Indie titles these days. Atleast the ones that don't completely bring me back into the 80's with sidescrollers.

Call of Duty

I await the day it returns to the world wars. The original Call Of Dutys are my favourites. And World At War.

I know they have a huge audience that want modern warfare over and over but come on, go back to your roots and make a really kick ass modern world war game.

Assassins Creed

There is so much potential with the assassin creed games but it always turns out to be a boring "walk here and stab this guy" game with a very rediculous story. I know it's a game and it can be as rediculous as it wants but it just isn't that interesting and the characters are so bland. So i'm avoiding them because it hurts seeing all the failure.

OT: None. I judge a game by it's merits, if a game is good then I'll buy it. Just because EA is composed faggots of undescribable proportions doesn't mean I'm going to deny myself a game by one of my favorite devs. I.E. Mass Effect 3.
You are right. It is a matter of opinion with the Elder Scrolls games. However, it is flat out wrong to use a homosexual slur as an insult.
