also I've forgiven Oblivion despite my initial dislike of the game. I gave it another go and thanks to the hard work and talent of the modding community and Bethesda's distribution of the construction kit most of the flaws have been fixed and I'm enjoying it.

I agree. Oblivion is still one of my favorite games, but only if it's been fairly heavily modded.

I suggest Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul, if you haven't tried it, it does make the game significantly harder (particularly at the beginning) but it... really just makes it a much better game.

Also Better Arrows and NoPsychicGuards are must-haves, imo.

Dragon Age II, Lord of the Rings: Conquest and Darksiders are the first that come to mind.

I will put a whole company there: Paradox.

Europa Universalis 2: It took 5 patches to actually make it playable, 9 to make it stable.
Crusader Kings: A buggy mess, even after the expantion.

Mostly these and in general all their games need 2-3 patches before they become good, yet i still play them and will in the future.

Thanks for the replies everyone - thinking I'm going to be checking out Alpha Protocol and Way of the Samurai 3 soon as. Should be interesting to see if the flaws are too much to bear
