After the 24-Hour-For-Free Event last Friday, i gone and bought Left 4 Dead of Steam.

Funny thing, i thought i hated that game.

Before it came out i was relatively excited for it...but then came the Demo (Xbox 360)...and i didn't really like it. Looking back, i think it just wasn't what i was expecting. I expected Survival Horror as i knew it. Not much Ammo, slooow pace, scary and all. L4D certainly isn't that (although it may be a bit scary from time to time). Also...it isn't really fit for Xbox 360. Now don't flame me, the 360 is my favorite Gaming Platform, INCLUDING First Person Shooters. However, L4D is just to fast paced and twitchy to feel right on the console, in my opininon. It is similar to playing Quake 3 on Consoles, just not the same.
And last but not least, i saw nothing special in the Demo.

But giving it a second chance on the PC, i'm loving it suddenly. The forced teamwork functions well, it is exciting and chaotic and hardly plays like anything else, although it is so similar to other games. Especially the new Survival Mode does not seem special at all...but it is very different from what i knew before.

So, i turned from L4D Hater to Lover...without much of a reason.

Did you once changed your mind about a game? Did you suddenly like something you did not care about, or do you hate something now that you once loved, although it is the same thing?

Well when I first got Bioshock I loved it and didn't play anything else till I completed it, when I did a replay on hard I just couldn't get into it, I don't know what I just didn't feel like the same game, it was really slow paced and boring.

I liked Bioshock until the middle, maybe 2/3rds of the way through (a certain part of the story). Just felt I needed to complete it, won't be playing that again.

Don't think I could be bothered ever playing Mass Effect again either, dislike the conversation wheel, hate the elevators, just never hooked me, unlike other Bioware games.

Half-life 2 is up there for me also, quite enjoyed the main campaign up to a point, but feel so jaded with it I can't be bothered to check out the episodes. The first one was better IMO, played that to death.

This is actually something of a curse I have because if I play a game enough I will inevitably come to like it even if I'm consciously aware of its flaws. I don't know why that is. There are actually very few games I hate, in fact, I can't think of one right now.

But a recent example of a game which made me go from loving to hating it at the time was Assassin's Creed. So after a fairly easy but enjoyable stealth game they suddenly force you to fight ludicrous battles in the endgame. Seriously, it has been years since I've been so frustrated and it nearly made me hate the entire game.

I hated playing Tales of Symphonia until all my other games got stolen out of my suitcase on a trip to my grandma's house. Despite the fact that it was my only gaming option and the TV was a piece of crap that fritzed out when confronted with the color blue, ToS turned out to be one of my favorite games. :)

Fable II, in the beginning I thought it was pretty cool, then well... I expected something interesting to happen in it but nothing did...

RE5 - played the demo and thought the aiming was sluggish and it was all guns and ammo action game rather than survival horror.

Borrowed it off a mate and now playing through as Sheeva - once I settled it's not RE as I know it and took it as a seperatge game on its own merits it's quite fun.

When I first played Hitman Contracts I hated the damn thing, being the first hitman game I ever played. I could never solve the levels unless I just grabbed an AK 47 and shot down everyone until I got the target as well, but it seemed like pointless. But eventually I replayed the game and actually liked it quite a bit, finally understanding how to do the missions the stealth way, I've come to love Hitman, and took this love over to Hitman: Blood Money. I had the same essential problem with Splinter Cell games, just couldnt get my head around stealth, but now it's one of my favorite series.

Doom 3, thought it was really cool as I began playing it, but after doing and seeing exactly the same thing for twelve levels straight it got so boring it felt like a chore finishing it.

I hated Too human when I first got it and now I......wait, I still hate it, bad example.
Let me see, I loved Bioshock and now I...still love it, damn I suck at this game.

I can't think of any games I completely changed my mind about at the moment.

I used to love JRPGs but these days I can't even play a good one without getting hit with an overwhelming urge to do something else. I've soured badly on the 8- and 16-bit era JRPGs that I once loved---they bore me to sleep now.

I would say Fable 2 was the biggest dissapointment for me, I thought it was way to short. Also there is nothing to do after you beat the story but buy houses, and get STDs.

The first time I played Kingdom Hearts I absolutly hated it. Went back for another go, next day i preordered KH2.

Downloaded Psyconauts to my 360 and found it to have some frustrating gamplay/level design and decent humor. Then I played a second time with cheats and had more fun with levels that really annoyed me the last time.

I wasn't really stoked for bioshock at all, but I bought it anyway because it was the first new title to come out after I got my 360. Ended up being the best game I played all year.

On the other side of the spectrum, I had my reservations about Fable 2 but really wanted to give it a chance. After playing the first hour I had gotten my hopes up and even convinced a friend "yes, it's actually good: go buy it"
It only took another couple hours to realize how wrong I was... :(

Mass Effect. Took over a year before I really sat down and gave the game a chance. It's just such a whirlwind at first. But once I finally did, I was rewarded with one hell of a game. One of the best game stories I've ever experienced.
