Quite a few games, actually.

For instance, I got stuck on the final boss of Valkyria Chronicles and didn't touch it for months. Then I looked up a guide online and completed it not half an hour ago.

My favorite part of most games is the beginning couple of hours.

GTA San Andreas- Only really fun in the first city, when you're taking over turf. Once the game opens up, it dives into ludicrous territory in a vain attempt to remain interesting.

Morrowind- Explored the hell out of that island, maxed everything out(you can pay to level!), then realized all the quests were now piss easy, so I didn't bother with the actual story. Probably played longer than most people who bothered to beat it. Wonder whether Bethesda would consider this a rousing success or utter failure.

Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth- I'm ashamed to admit this one, since by subject matter I should like this better than Half-Life. I like shooters, and I like stealth, but I don't like when a game forces me to flee. The triggering of the fight or flight instinct is what makes games fun. Why take that away, and why limit it to flight if you do?

Scarface- Fuck this game for its end level. No saves, and infinitely respawning maricones. They might as well have put in a time limit too.I hated Modern Warfare's end level, but I finished it because it was a good game.

Halo- It's not as fun as you think shooting Carebears. The second level was getting better, until I had to deal with the fuckin Warthog. I quit.

FEAR- Never understood all the hype. Played about four levels in, and didn't get in any fights that were half as fun as fighting the soldiers in Half-Life. Only part I really liked was the guns. Then STALKER came out.

Max Payne- Again, overhyped. The game forces you into a very specific strategy. You can't really survive without bullet time, which I think is cheap. This is the only shooter my girlfriend likes, so I tried it. Then FarCry came out. I had her try that game, heh.

Modern Warfare 2. I honestly don't know why anybody actually likes it.
The campaign doesn't make any sense
The Spec Ops is basically campaign
The multiplayer is annoying, and the online community ... GGGAAAAHHHHHH

World of warcraft. I hit level 40 and was one day just cruising around Orgrimar and suddenly realized I wasn't having any fun. Uninstaled it 5 mins later.

Eternal Darkness (GameCube) - Got to the boss you need to spell blast 8000 times and just gave up after dying time after time.

Final Fantasy X-2 (Playstation 2) - Dear god, why?

Marvel Ultimate Alliance (XBox 360) - After X-Men Legends, it just seemed too bland.

Metal Gear Solid 4 (Playstation 3) - Died to Raven too many times and got bored.

Either your squad leader for that part was a poor choice (that was what f*cked me up), or maybe you need loyalty (dunno if that's an issue, I've just always had it)
As far as I can recall I had a recommended squad leader on my second team, and like you I had all loyalties. Even if I had chosen a poor second squad leader, why would the tech specialist die as a result?

In any event, ME2 felt like it was suffering from middle child syndrome; serving as an evolution for the main plot points, settling what had happened to the discarded characters from ME1 and setting things up for the finale. Once is enough of that I think.
I understand what you mean about Thane, but they do say tech specialist, not stealth specialist. I threw Legion into the vent because 1) It's just an expendable platform, those programs are all on a hard drive somewhere in Geth space, it's not like it can die 2) I've seen plenty of Geth running around on the surface of planets at 300 degrees. Would a little steam really bother it?

That final standoff your squad does factors in squad member's individual combat strengths as well. You want to leave behind tanks which can absorb lots of damage and hold a position. Taking Grunt and Jacob with you ensures someone will die. Mordin and Tali are usually the ones that bite it here, so either take them with you for the final fight (Mordin actually does pretty good) or have one of them escort the crew back.

Wind Waker. I was in the Temple of the Gods and I brought the last statue out of the room with the laser field and put him on the scale and thought, hm maybe I should go into the room to the right with him since I don't know what else I would do in that room. So I did and nothing happened. And now I can't get him back onto the platform. And I said no, I refuse to try and work my way out of another zelda flaw trap, I just quit. So I did.

Every Western RPG I've ever picked up -.-...Fall Out 3, Elder Scrolls 3 and 4, hell I dropped Dragon Age at the intro screen.

Western RPGS have a tenacious tendency to copy D&D so closely I may as well make up the story on the fly, because thats about as creative as it'll get. Fall out 3 would have broken that chain because I actually got into the story for once, but it made the same mistake Oblivion did when it almost had me. It enclosed me in a tight packed environment and then on a whim thrusts me out on to a giant expanse of land, and with the game expecting me to respond "Look at all this!! I want to explore and see where it all goes!" I instead responded plainly, "The Fuck would I look around here for? I'm done"

For as silly, outrageous, and downright spectacular feet's JRPG's pull off in game, at least they do stuff differently. RPG's are based on a common system, but Western RPGS tend to dick ride the rules like a five year old to there mum, while Eastern RPGS are more like the grown up and independent older brother willing to take chances and make mistakes. With that said,I'll take a shitty JRPG that at least tried over a knock off piece of shit like Dragon Age and the Elder Scrolls Series that didn't put in an ounce of effort.

Disclaimer: Not hating on Western RPGS since I haven't played ME yet, and it's suppose to remedy the horrid cliche' it's predecessors established for it, and these comments go more towards story than game play even though Dragon Ages' combat system is almost word for word the exact same system from Final Fantasy 12 and that was a generation ago, and Elder scrolls has moved maybe a few inches from its original play style.

I've stopped playing Oblivion recently. I just kind of stopped for no real reason.

I might go back, though. Thinking about the "Pwnage Moments" that Oblivion is riddled with makes me want to play it again...

On an unrelated note:

I just lost the game!
