I believe the only game I ever bought but couldn't finish was Gauntlet II for Gameboy. For some reason I actually ended up dying at a certain level, no matter how hard I tried or what character I picked. However, looking up the game again now I found this bit of information on wikipedia:

Players must cooperate to traverse the perils of a dungeon via a top-down view. The game has no actual goal. The only way to stop playing is to either die, or wait for the health timer to go down to zero. The NES version does, however, have an end after one hundred levels.
So now I'm wondering if the game even had an ending... Who said dynamic content [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/columns/the-hard-problem/6225-The-Hard-Problem-Dynamic-Content] has to be fun?

Huh? The original Gauntlets having an ending? By god, I didn't even think those games had a storyline to them.

I was 9 years old when I played that game. It was obvious to me that every game had a goal and an ending. I can't recall how many times I played that game, hours at a time, only to be defeated time and again. It really would have helped to know that there was no actual ending.

Whenever I was nine years old, I just thought games were entertainment that had vast differences between the lot of them. I can see why you would see that every game has a goal, but I never saw or thought there was an ending to that Pac-Man cabinet I pumped so many quarters in. (I doubt you had the same beginning, but still.)

FF12:
All setup to do the final boss and have been for months; just no motivation to do it. The acting makes me weep. :x

LoZ: Twilight Princess
Basically the same as above minus the acting part.

I couldn't get through the first Big level. All the other characters games have you racing through levels, not Big though. You sit there and bob your head while waiting for a big enough fish to bite.

I tried again on the GameCube version, it was just as bad though.
yea wtf is that about same thing happen, i tried EVERYTHING people said to be at a certain part of the pool i tried that, people said to be in the water some i tried that, i tried everything but go in the game and punch big and eat the frog

Oblivion- I can finish the main story and probably the guilds, but never do every mission
Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsenal- the disc is scratched
Rainbow Six: Vegas- good game, but whenever I tried to get back into it, I just couldn't

Gran Turismo 3, Gradius 4 and Gaiden.

I'm digging Forza more than GT and Gradius is difficult even on it's lowest settings.

Tom Clancy's HAWX: got to one level that I kept failing and never got back around to finishing
Resistance: never really got into it
Devil May Cry 4: liked the game, got about 3 levels in after you start playing with Dante and just put it down for some reason

Those mainly on Mega Drive really:

Gods
The Chaos Engine
Taz
Rock and Roll Racing

They are either crummy games or just too long to play in one sitting

I thought I saw a thread like this one already? *shrug* Oh well I don't care.
In answer to the question, Persona 3. I got all the way to the end boss, but couldn't beat him. I took him on 3 times, the first 2 times I got within a hair's breath of beating him when he owned me, but the 3rd time I didn't even get close and thats when I got fed up with it. It didn't help that it took 30-40 minutes just to get close to beating him, his final form if you want.
=O! I have Lego Racers for the Nintendo 64 and it was epix!

Anyway, my brother and I bought a game called 'Paradise' and it's probably one of the worst games. I'm never gonna play that game again.
