Command and Conquer games.

I've played Generals a lot, and played several of the others (I own the first decade collection) but I just don't get the appeal. Combat is too fast and the building system is completely counter-intuitive to me. Maybe its because I started off on Warcraft. *shrugs*
When I was a kid in school all my friends loved the hell out of C&C, whenever I tried to play with them I was bored out of my mind. I thought this would mean that I'd dislike all strategy games but in fact that wasn't the case at all. Add C&C to my list too.

I don't understand the appeal of Final Fantasy games to tell you the truth. Maybe it's my limited exposure to them because I have a bit of a mancrush (can you have a mancrush on a game?....i'm going with disc-crush)on western RPGs. Or maybe it's the style I don't like but yea I watch people playing those games and I die a little inside
If you've never started at FF3 for SNES I can understand this position. FF7 ( which was the next installation, technically FF3 was FF6 in Asia ) was an improvement in gameplay, but very convoluted in story.

FF3 was an amazing game, go play it and you'll have a fine appreciation for RPG's.

Metal Gear Solid series.

Cutscenes and occassional, obtuse gameplay.

Halo: Combat Evolved.

Only played the first--redundant single-player, no online play, no multi-player bots.

Uncharted series.

Lots of cutscenes; mediocre gameplay relies on art assets.

Pre-4 Resident Evil games.

These are just bad adventure games, really.

Heavy Rain.

Is just Shenmue but with more linear environments, no VF engine supporting its gameplay and inferior art design. Oh, and it came out a decade later.

Diablo series.

So much clicking barely discernible enemies, dear god.

Any number of JRPGs.

There's a few I like, but most of them just plagiarize each other, and the archetypes and overwrought FMV are irritating.

I could never get into Dragon Age. No matter how much time I sank into it I never liked it. So I gave up on it.
the thing about DA:O from helping my friends through it is they walk in thinking it's like Mass Effect, where your character build isn't that important. I loved it because it's just like KOTOR without the lightsabers =)

for me these three games I don't understand their hype, their built up in advertising and by obsessive fans to be the greatest game ever made. Then you play it and it's just... average...

Halo, I was too poor to afford an Xbox when they Launched so it was a while later until I managed to play Halo 1 & 2. to me it was just Quake 2 with regenerating health. Then I played Halo 3 and again I was instantly let down by its introduction. I think Halo 3 is a fantastic Driving game and an average shooter. I've bought Reach but still havent completed it, I got up to the night time sniping area and just fell out of interest, I'll try it again someday.

Gears Of War, similar to the Halo series I havent understood this games appeal. Hide behind a wall shoot a Locust 5 - 10 times in the head to kill him. Run to next wall. Repeat. I'd played the Uncharted games before hand and loved how they'd blended "prince of persia" wall scrambling with a cover based system, making you scramble up walls to get a higher vantage point. Gears of War wasn't terrible but I'd place it slightly higher than Kane and Lynch.

God of War, I played the first one and I loved it, but the sequels I found to be bland, all about spectacle and flashy graphics and gore instead of any actual motivation to go through the game. All my mates love it and go on about how increadible fights are in GOW3 leaving me to just nod my head and placidly agree. I preferred Onimusha, or even Devil May Cry.

But what do I know eh?

I live in Urugauay where football is the most popular sport but I dislike every football/soccer game. I like to watch football, though I'm not a hardcore fan, but playing Pro Evolution Soccer, some FIFA edition or Winning Eleven is just soooooo boring. I find the games mechanics and physics to be awkward (though my friends say that these "feel very real") and I see no point in sitting in fron of a TV or PC in order to play something that I could do IRL (ok, maybe I play a lot worse than any semi-pro football player but kicking a ball is something everyone can do)or I could watch in a better way just by turning on the TV.

Also, most console games, specially if there's a PC version or if the port to PC is bad due to bad coding and lack of interest on said port, then I blame the console market. But focusing on the consoles I think that there's some kind of ultra-hyping for every console game that just surpases me. Halo and Gears of War are two games I couldn't got despite being revered as beingthe pinnacle of game design, they are good but not enough, also I dislike GoW characters.

I've tried a few MMORPGs, and quite frankly, I got bored with them after a couple of days, at best.

Yeah, I know some people love them, but I don't really see the appeal.
+1 to this. I've played a -ton- of MMORPGs, ranging from stuff like Guild Wars and WoW to endless free-to-play MMOs (including the Shin Megami Tensei MMO, a game which I was near certain I'd enjoy) and, well, I fail to see the appeal in any of them. I'd play for, at most, a week or two until I came to the realisation that, unless you abuse the metagame as much as humanly possible, most MMOs just aren't that fun.

Halo (series)
Dragon Age
Mass Effect
Final Fantasy VIII
Oblivion
Starcraft
Heavy Rain
Super Smash Bros Brawl
New Vegas - Kinda. It was ok, probably won't play it again. I don't see why everyone says it is so amazing. Its really boring and bland, especially compared to Fallout 3.

I'd say Oblivion, an amnemic storyline, a boring fighting system, lots and lots of void, nothing interesting goes on at all (you can add WoW, but I think its because I can understand that basicly they filled every need MMORPG-eger had and managed to flush the compettion had who can't find someway to change the genre)

Same as OP never understood Halo, it really is one of the most average FPS games I've ever played. With Uncharted it was just a poor man's tombraider in my opinion, just style over substance.

I also never got why people went on and on about Half-life 2, it's pretty good but the first was far better. Better weapons, more variety of enemies, more death traps, and it was just way more sci-fi b-move esque and so way cooler in my opinion. The sequel was good but it just wasn't the same for me.

Final Fantasy. It's funny because I just adore jrpg's but Ive always hated this series. Ive never found the characters compelling but I do enjoy the art. However the battle style... naw. Not for me. Maybe it's my preference to turn base but the old school real time always bugged me. Course I like to think about my moves rather than being rushed.

Halo is another. Not sure why. Just never got into it.

World of Warcraft. How many friends have you stolen from me? It's not the game, its the people

Damn you ninja...!

Seriously. What is up with this game? It's just a big pile of nothingness with some equally empty people to add some void to the void. Oh yeah, and make sure to fix them Oblivion gates.
Repeat until insane.

How can people like this?

I am going to be drug out into the street and beaten with heavy clubs here but.....

Bioshock

Ya I said it. The game was great, the story was great, but the combat, random ammo types/lack of ammo ( maybe that was my problem ) and sometimes slightly confusing level directions put me off. I never had the bullets to kill a big brother. I always wanted to squish the adams, which was 'bad'. Maybe Ill have to try it again.....

Mass Effect. I played it, enjoyed it a little bit, but never really made it too far into the story, and overall just wasn't my game...

Morrowind

I started with Oblivion and loved it. Then, I found a copy of Morrowind GOTY in a bargain bin and decided to give it a try. From the walls of text that's supposed to pass as dialogue to the fact that you fail at nearly everything (swing a weapon? you miss, cast a spell? it fizzles, mix a potion? you spill it on your pants), I just couldn't get into it.
LOL. I actually like Morrowind and reading this makes me wonder if the game has trained me to be accustomed to failure.

I went the other direction, though. I loved Morrowind but I still don't understand how Oblivion is better. Sure it looks better but there aren't as many interesting quests, there aren't as many organizations to enjoy, and (probably my biggest complaint) there was political aspect to the game. I remember persuading nobles (in Morrowind) to vote me as master of their Great house and I even had to assassinate a few people doing this. Maybe I'm channeling Roman senators but I miss that political aspect.

"traditional" RPGs. They're all more or less western RPGs, but not all western RPGs fall under "traditional". The trail starts at Baldur's Gate and Fallout, and includes pretty much everything with an isometric view option, castle walls made out of dialogue, and occasionally D&D rulesets.

Off the top of my head, Baldur's Gate 1 & 2, Icewind Dale 1 & maybe 2(never played it), Fallout 1 & 2, Neverwinter Nights 1 & 2, TES: Morrowind(oddball of the group), Dragon Age: Origins.

Not really saying they're all bad, but at best they will be timewasters for me, nothing more.

I borrowed Fallout 3 of a friend, played it for a few hours... now it just sits on my shelf, waiting return. I liked Oblivion, and F3 is pretty much the same thing only in the future, but still, I have no enthusiasm for it. Playing for a few hours, I had already aquired tons of money, hundreds of guns and a goddamn house - it took me like 20 hours to get a decent house in Oblivion! For a post-apocalyptic setting, resources sure are plentiful. Though I think the biggest reason I can't play it is because I've been spoiled by Bioware... the well developed NPCs and story makes Fallout seem so lonely in comparison.
