Several:
The Otogi series:
Imagine the Japanese form of God of War, but having come out earlier and plays far more swiftly. This game did for Japanese Mythology what God of War did for Greek Mythology, it placed you in the shoes of a Japanese Legend (Raikoh, from the tale Raikoh and the 4 generals), allowing you to fight in completely destructible environments (Which would actually save what you destroyed, giving a bonus weapon if you destroyed everything in all stages), fight in a swift and elegant manner (A lot of combat took place in the air, the character Raikoh moves swiftly and gracefully, like a crane.) with multiple weapons (Maces, swords, rods, staffs, etc), and this magnificent package was completed with the lovely music (Classic Japanese music, really sets the mood).
This game series was made by From Software, same guys who made Demon's Souls and Lost Kingdoms. Also, it uses the heavy and light attack method of combos like God of War and other action games, but don't mistake that, it is in no way brutal. It is elegant, swift, and satisfying. There are no Quick time events either. The games to this day, look good enough to hold up to a 09 360 game, and they were on the original Xbox. If you love Japanese mythology, then you'd be doing yourself an injustice by not looking into this magnificent hidden gem series.
The Lost Kingdoms Series:
Imagine a combination of Pokemon (Games) and Yu-gi-Oh! (Game), you use cards in a deck of 30, to traverse the lands, but unlike other games, this is entirely real time. The cards all play out in real time, with Active ones fighting alongside you, Weapon cards attacking for one attack, Summoning cards allowing you to summon and use the abilities of stronger monsters, and support cards which have a multitude of uses (Card regeneration, healing, etc). The games all have a good story, the characterization is beautiful, the lands are diverse and lovely, and the music is gorgeous. Another hidden gem series from "From Software", it is, to this day, quite the experience.
