And this is how it should be really. Online passes and the like should be supplemented by retailers when they re-sell used copies, especially for the scandalous prices they charge compared to the credit/cash offered.

Edit - Boy doesn't this sound entitled... I had more to add to this to make it sound less bratty, but I got distracted. I'll come back and edit this again later.

Edit 2 - I remembered thanks to this chap here:

Actually guys, I think Gamestop is actually BUYING tons of codes from Warner Bros. themselves because they know $10 is nothing compared to the MASSIVE sales and profit of used games their little trick will generate

and i applaud them for it. this benefits all three parties (buyer, publisher, retailer), which is AWESOME

Hell, it's probable that this has all been worked out between EA and Gamestop; EA plays the big bad villian "oppressing" the common gamer, Gamestop swoops in and acts like their sticking up for the underdog, and both of them make lot's of money off of it.
No, it's not probable. EA wouldn't consent to a retailer openly, even if falsely, defying their divine dictates from on high.

Okay I SPEND 60 dollars for the game from WB. I spend Less then 50 if I buy it used from gamestop. Since there is no code I am spending more then ten dollars less. That is how this works.
Unless you buy directly from Warner Brothers, yes.
However it's likely you'll just go straight to Gamestop and look at a new copy for $60, Gamestop will still take a % of that sale.

Still my original point stands, neither company is trying to save you money. They're offering an incentive for you to buy their product from them and not others.
This is gamestops way of making it so you don't buy a used game from any other company. Again, nothing to do with saving you money.

Ladies and Gentlemen, the gaming community.

Except they aren't defying the dictate at all. WB states that all used copies will require an extra $10 to access the extra content. Gamestop is simply acting as a go-between in this case. I mean seriously, this works out well in WB's favour; they gain more money as people who protest the online pass to begin with now have a method that, in their mind, "sticks it" to WB.

WB makes money off this deal, and Gamestop gets more business. Not to mention Gamestop needs WB's permission to do this to begin with.

I already have this game preorderd with Gamestop, so whatever. I don't care about online passes or preorder bonuses or whatever, I just want the game.

Catwoman is not on the disk.
How do you know what is and isn't on the disc? Do you have some kind of extra power that the rest of humanity lacks?

Having day one DLC on the disc is a very common practice. Look at Yoda/Vader for Soul Calibur 4, and Mehrunes Razor for Oblivion.

That's great, after all these companies work to get extra money and stop used sales, ***** slap!

It was announced on IGN. Take their word for it or no, but I doubt they would just say stuff like that without evidence.

+1 respect to Gamestop, I love how these guys support used game sales.
*sighs* They're screwing you over and you don't even realise it. They are just paying the $10 in your place, and charging you for it too. They are not saving you money, they are not interested in saving you money. You're forgetting this is the same company that sold used games as new not that long ago. Do you honestly believe that EA has no part in giving them these extra codes?

They aren't supporting the used game market, they're trying to monopolise it so people like you will go to them and leave the other used games palces to rot, strengthing their grip and leaving us, the buyers, in a much weaker position.

You don't get it at all; EA is still getting that extra $10 per code. WB is playing you.

This isn't ***** slaping them, this is going straight into their hands. They've successfully played you like a violin; people like you will buy the game from gamestop used, ignorant of the fact that you've just given WB $10 without even realising it.

So.. Gamestop are trying to increase there profits by screwing over game developers.. And people are siding with gamestop? WHAT HAS THIS WORLD COME TO????
I can't tell if you're kidding or not, so assuming you aren't: GameStop is buying back games from people who no longer wish to own them. Publishers and Developers do not offer this service, and expect one sale for one person till the end of time. This isn't the way any other industry gets to operate, because of consumer rights.

oh right aSshole it can't be he wants it used or doesn't have the money he is just the devil for buying a second hand product
*shrug* Tomato, tomahto. Whatever his reasoning, its certainly not because he is serious about taking a stand against EA or other corporation. I'm advocating transparency of motive, nothing more.

But, we're not giving EA money if we buy Arkham City new or buy the Catwoman pass, since EA has nothing to do with the game...

I imagine that they're buying the codes from the publisher and inflating the price to compensate. But so long as they don't say that, they look like the heroes for once.

Ah, that's embarassing. I mixed EA up with WB. My bad. *rubs back of head*

Still, point stands; WB gets the money either way. And EA is there in the background, looking shifty.

Gamestop et al. need to start giving Publishers a percentage of used sales. They're making way more than they need to already. This would (hopefully) stop publishers from beating the consumer over used sales.

I just find it funny that the battle over used sales is being fought between the Publisher and the consumer, when the real culprit sits on the sidelines making money.
