I'm more the type of guy that doesn't tells people to get off my lawn anymore, the mountains of rotting corpses of the morons who didn't listen to me when I still did are doing that job now, and with a truck full Febreze the smell isn't even that bad.

As a big fan of GT, I welcome all you smart folks who loved the same GT crew as myself. I used to comment on a lot of GT videos under the same name if anyone would remember. Probably not though. :p

Oh dear my
A lot of your sentiments regarding the world are extremely familiar, somewhat disturbingly so.
As a side note, even temperatures over 15 can go take a hike.
But yes, welcome and keep out of the basement ... unless you wish to become a uh ... volunteer, mnyes, a volunteer.

We need to stop all immigration until we can figure out what is going on! We need to deport all the GT illegals, then build a big, beautiful firewall around our servers, and make Game Trailers pay for it! #MakeEscapistGreatAgain
After the events of the March Mayhem Zynga voting we can't be too careful. We need to shut out every new account that ticks yes to the box stating "Are you from Gametrailers?"

So do we put them on a train headed for the Slovenian border? That's what my country does.

Also, did you just call us 'Pists? That sounds like a weird skin condition. "Mom, I'm having the pists again! -Eww. Stay away from me!"
You're lucky your site didn't crash and burn, check your privilege Pist-lord.

And last but not least, fuck summer, fuck temperatures over 20?C.

I wait 11 and a half months a year for t-shirt weather, count yourself lucky to live in a nation with decent weather while being quite wealthy.

So.

Yeah.

Totally worth the move.

[sub]though not going to lie, I like the Channers more than whatever the fuck is going down in that sub-forum. At least a Channer will call you a prick to your face.[/sub]
I actually prefer 4chan in some ways. I mean half of /vp/ devolved into an autistic mess earlier in the week, but I can appreciate how they didn't skirt around their disdain for people with different opinions.

*Looks at your join-date*
4Chan still exists?!
I thought Reddit ate it in 2009 when people realized they could get their funny memetic images in a place that didn't require digital purell for every trip.
Avoid /b/ and a lot of /vg/, it's quite straightforward. Boards like /his/ actually come close to adult cordial conversation.

Aside from that? /r/4chan on reddit lets you keep up with the most funny/memeable/notorious shit circulating on the site day to day.

Now that I'm done making lame ass references to Gran Torino, I welcome our new members. Just try to keep the console wars down, would ya? Some of us aren't quite as spry and need to be in bed at 10 (I'm allowed to talk like this due to my join date).
People still go on about the console wars?

I thought by about June 20th 2014 the consensus here was Workable PC > PS4 > Laptop > WiiU > Literal Malware > Xbox One ?

Not to jump on your back but I'm curious to know what you mean by autistic mess, being one of this forum's resident members on the spectrum. Totally agree about the weather though.

I was pretty upset, until I saw that this site looks almost exactly like GameTrailers. Mostly it seems to trade console wars for political wars, which to me seems like an even trade. I can work with this.

Is that custom sprite-work?
I'm pretty sure Valkyries in the GBA games could only use staves, and light/anima magic. I never played sword of seals, but I don't think the systems in place supported characters who used both physical and magical weapons until Path of Radiance.
Nice work man.

...You don't know do you?

Pokemon Sun and Moon got announced, with a grand total of 8 seconds of distant panning over concept art. Cue shitstorm and my statement above by the mods' own admission.

The board was at war with itself over literally what boiled down to concept art regarding the architecture of a building, a bird pokemon's foot, and some sort of pickup truck with a rainbow licence plate. Everyone was arguing over whether this meant the series was in Gen 6.5 or Gen 7, whether it'll be set in the South of France or Catalonia or Hawaii or Singapore (?!), whether or not leaks from 4 months ago were credible, if sales were to blame or if it would be New*3DS exclusive. Lots of arguing. Very little evidence.

In hindsight I should've just avoided it totally, since everybody's anonymous and so has no reason to admit they're wrong.

I think I've lived under my rock for too long because I literally have no idea what's going on, or what the hell you're talking about.

But more people means more traffic and hopefully new blood.

And by that, I mean to give to the Blood God. :D

Also, welcome blah blah blah nice to have you around yadda yadda yadda and don't poke the Kross.

I propose we build a wall to keep these refugees out and make Gametrailers pay for it. Let's make the Escapist great again.

Call me cynical, but GT was dying anyway and this forum was in dire need of some more traffic. So, to me, it seems like it was in Defy's best interest to consolidate their gaming forum userbase onto one site. Makes sense.
Yes but if you (as in Defy) don't figure out why its dying here too, this site's going down soon too.

Trust me, if you think this forum / site is dying, you have no idea what dying is. :p

It's very active compared to most web forums on the net these days.

The GT community has always been divided between the forums, on site videos, and YouTube. The ones that have come recently are from the forum community, and may or may not recognize you.

The on site video community did make up the overwhelming majority of GT site traffic. And was GT's biggest money maker. But not all of us consistent watch GT's content in the forum community.

I have to say, this forum is much more active than the last 2 years of GT's life on the web. I returned to GT about 2 years ago after spending time away. And it didn't take long for me to learn people's avatars and personalities. Given the smaller community, and some familiar faces of old. Here on the Escapist is a different story. There's seemily a few hundred or so active members. So I've only begun to recognize some avatars and names.

So while forum activity as a whole on the web, has declined with the rise of Reddit and social media. This site is actually pretty active compared to a number of other sites as you say. It may not be as busy as years past. But there's still a very significant community here. And having a small community is better for the site as you get to know each other more personally. And have great discussions.

Yeah, so darn wealthy that Merkel refused a new proposal for more social security for german citizen, guess she needs the money to build houses for the invaders, I mean uninvited guests, I mean refugees, and the other half of it goes to other countries, because fuck her own people, and everyone who disagrees with her is a racist (even though islam is not a race).
Also I love the cold, if I had any say in it it would never be above 15?C and the sun would never shine, at least in my town.

A bit of sunshine every now and then is not bad. Brings some more colour into the overly grey world. While doom and gloom can be fun, a little contrast is good sometimes, otherwise life would be very dreary indeed.

But yes, sodd the heat. You've not as bad some other places but being stuck in a bus while being slowly cooked by 30+ is nowhere near pleasant.

I don't think diversity and inclusivity in games is important, the last thing I want is to identify with a game character. Racism and sexism in games are overblown non issues, I think that fiction should be allowed to do and show everything the creators want, every game should have the right to exist without censorship, no matter how "offensive" they are, from Gone Home to Rapelay. We have age ratings for a reason.
I dunno man, the double standard that women in games can't be strong without also being hot IS a bit stupid. However, pushing too hard for change only ever creates backlash. The real change will come naturally & slowly, as it should.

I do agree with you on the right for any game to exist though. The consumer will determine its worth.

Musou Tensei said:
I think all universities in the US should be shut down.
Universities are supposed to provide a melting pot of ideas and perspectives for people to rigorously test their own biases against.
That they're slowly turning into ignorance and safe spaces is a cause for serious concern, but to shut the system down entirely? That would only deny those willing to learn a place to do so.

Oh man, you would not like South Australia: we only see regular sub-20c days in winter. Our summer temps regularly go over 35c!

I've never seen snow before in my life, lol.

Pegida detected.

In seriousness though, I remember a conversation with a couple of Germans last year and I asked why their country had oh so many trillions in debt, and they said with a lot of confidence that if the government put their mind to it the country could easily run a surplus within several years.

Boy those were the days.

I'm just surprised that Taco[footnote]Taco is our resident insane villager John Oliver.[/footnote] isn't here.
In fact, I'm very surprised Taco isn't doing a "Taco News" of this.
Most of all, I'm surprised he isn't wanting to become the Escapist President to build a wall and wear a wig!

But as they say.
There will be Hell toupee...

*Ahem*

But I vote we throw them in The Basement.
Show them the ropes and sell them to another forum.
