I always try to pause the game when something bad happens. Like, if I say something really embarrassing, I want to pause and then pretty much go back to last save.

Also I quote games constantly, to the point where all my friends, who don't play video games, could probably recite every quote in my favourite games, i.e. Portal.

I find it annoying that some mates at school keep using the stupid
phrase 'BOOM! Head Shot' which is getting on my nerves.

"Yo *****, how'd you make that sweet shot?"
"I roll ranger..."

and another constant conversation with me and my friend
"Man Go fuck yourself."
"And with Portal, Now you CAN!!"

Playing too much Runescape can cause you to believe that you should teleport home rather than go to the trouble of walking. Exposing your friends to Portal can lead one of them to send you a text message saying 'The cake is a lie' at two o'clock in the morning.

For my friend Paul, his homicidal tendencies leak over into video games, causing him to beat every alternate corpse and making a dash attempt at smashing everything in the vicinity.

It's endless, seriously, to the point where people would loathe me. From pointing at a birthday cake and shrieking "IT'S A LIE!" to the Warcraft malarkey that spawns in Northshire at "LOL NUB" for some idiot falling over and proceeds to parade right the way through Outland screaming, "KEK NO FLIER JOO SUXOR" when I'm about to board a plane. Oh, and when being admired wearing a purple shirt "Yeah, it's epic."

Me and some friends often say 'C1' or 'C8' instead of 'yes' or 'no', comes from playing CS.

It wasn't from JTHM was it?...no I don't think it was...blargh.
It's from lots of different things. Supposedly originating with wounds that were so severe that the blood would soak through the bandage, the common use of the term in the mid-90's involved Inkjet printers' ink "bleeding through" to the other side of the paper (usually this happened with cheap paper). I was still working desktop support then, and I picked up the term there.

I'm sure it's appeared in countless other places though. Basically any time you need a term to describe uncontrolled or unexpected crossover.

It was actually a lot further back when some strange long forgotten race used traditional ink pens to do something similar to what we now know as typing. Childrens text book paper would be so poorly made that unless they were either very quick or very careful their ink would "bleed through" to the other side and resemble - as mentioned - blood coming through a white bandage. Now it's just a modern term replacing "crossover".

Yup, all the time. Got alot of strange looks towards me in my life. Back in highschool I used to discuss with a friend of mine how I counterd his flaktracks with apocalypse tanks, at which he replied with terror drones and tesla troopers. Lately with another gaming friend of mine I've fallen back into my old routine and constantly make gaming jokes. For instance when he's talking about how some friend kicked another guy's ass, I'll reply that he problably didn't stand on a forrested hill. Guess what game :)

BTW I have a teacher at my college who looks EXACTLY like one of the scientists in half life. The second one from the left: http://ambientimpact.hl-improvement.com/images/models/preview_scientist.jpg
I'll try and take his picture sometime, I'm expecting the guy to say "Hello Gordon" everytime I see him.

In my house we were watching an epic movie involving invasion of some sort (we have 2 badly tuned in channels so we watch a lot of crap) and the president was giving a speech to the troops (it could have been independence day). My housemate said:
'You have used Inspirational Speech. Plus ten attack.'

A lot of this is basically in speech with friends who are similarly inclined, but really only lightly - use of the word "owned", "hax" and the like.

Speaking of the topic of gaming and real life clashing, if anyone hasn't checked out the parodies Mega64 does, you're in for a treat. Here's one if you've played Shenmue:

After playing psychonauts, I seriously tried to read people's minds on the bus. Disturbingly, it was great fun to imagine what the level design inside their heads would look like.

I only do it when I'm around friends who will actually get the reference. It's like taking quotes from movies or tv shows...
