Also Timesplitters 2, I got that game when I got my Xbox and also Halo CE, Hitman 2 and Splinter Cell. I tried TS2 first but I got confused by the controls so I tried the other games, they were all good and only after a year I tried Timesplitters again. So many hours wasted in the Arcade mode lol.
I absolutely loved Timesplitters 2! It's probably one of my favorite games.

Another game I thankfully tried was Conflict Desert Storm II: Back to Baghdad. Despite the mediocre reviews, I thought this game was extremely fun to play. The fun lies in the nature of the co-op play. If you enjoy Team Fortress 2, I highly recommend checking this game out. You have a sniper, a medic/engineer, an anti-tank guy, and a general assault guy, so if you can get 3 other friends to play with you it's really cool to be able to strategize who will do what, when in order to complete the mission.

Sadly, most of my game purchases have been on whims when I'm looking for something to play. Either through looking interesting on the shelf or through me hearing mutterings of it's awesomeness.

Metal Gear, Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Bioshock, Dead Space, Bad Company...

Even non-blockbuster titles like Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway (which led me to buy Borderlands when I realised they were both Gearbox games) and The Darkness (which is hands-down fucking fantastic) were bought on a whim in the pre-owned section. *hides from game developers*

I nearly didn't play Portal of Halflife 2, and I wouldn't have if my friend didn't show up one day with the orange box. I bought them both a few days later.

I was ashamed to say that I almost didn't play BioShock, but seems like more people than I initially thought haven't played something "important."

Dragon Age. I hated Mass Effect and when I heard DA would be like it "but fantasy" I almost didn't buy it. I'm glad I eventually got it though, decent game.
You hated ME? Sucks for you. I love ME and ME2 so I almost never played DAO, but the guys on the Bioware social site encouraged me to play DA), so I did, and it was awsome.

Now looking forward to DA2!

I'm going to go with the Mass Effect and Dragon Age games. Had I not won them in a contest I likely would have gone through last year with no knowledge of the incredible games I would be missing out on.

Total War series. My mate at uni used to go on about it all the time. Then Rome, Med2 and Empire were in a steam sale for like £14 and he wouldn't shut up till I bought it.
Never looked back :)

Dawn of War

I always looked at them and thought they would be extremely boring and crap. Then my friend played it and told me about it and I fell in love with it, and the 40K universe (Fire Warrior also helped with that).

Portal.
Same basic story as everyone else. Heard it was good. Put it off till recently. Kicked myself for waiting.

Mass Effect... oh wait I still haven't played it because it won't even start on my laptop and there is no sound for it when I use a PC. So I will probably not be able to play it until I get a new PC or a new laptop, which will be several years from now, and even then it probably won't work. Yay technology and games with known problems that never got fixed.

Lost Odyssey. I played this for longer than any game ever except perhaps Oblivion. Found it through Unskippable actually!

Yeah I had technical issues with the first ME too, which unfortunatley distracted me from how awsome the game really was. I think it had somthing to do with windows 7 it just wouldnt launch at all, but the patch fixed that, but there seems to be off witht he textures

you wouldnt belive how shocked I was first time playing....I chose a dialogue option and shepard opened her mouth and spoke!!

anyway its a shame because it really is a good game and it dosnt feel right playing the second without the first

Morrowind.

A friend of mine was explaining it to me when we were kids, and my response was, "You need to repair your stuff? Sounds stupid." But, I finally gave in and borrowed his copy, ended up playing the game even more than he did. Between Xbox and PC variants, I ended up buying that same game 3 times, and I never regretted any of the purchases.

I have high hopes for Catherine, assuming we get it.
