I played Mass Effect until my soul bled. It's probably my most played game of all time. I played it through when I first got it on my old Gamertag til I had all the achievements except a couple of ally achievements, some of the engineer achievements, and the Hardcore and Insanity difficulty setting achievements... I played it about 3 or 4 times through to get that.

Fast Forward a couple years, I hadn't played it for a while, I had a new gamertag with NO Mass Effect achievements on it, so I sit down to try and get them ALL.

I play it through once on Hard, unlock Hardcore mode, getting 100% completion for the first 2 ally achievements. Play through it on Hardcore, unlock Insanity mode, getting 100% for the second 2 ally achievements. Start to play through it on Insanity mode... realize "fuck getting 100% on Insanity, that's crazy", and just barrel through, beat it on Insanity.

Then I play the game through AGAIN on easy for the last 2 ally achievements. Then I play the game to level 10 as an Adept and get all the Adept achievements, then play to level 10 as an Engineer and get all the Engineer achievements.

apart from that, my only other real gaming accomplishment is getting a nearly 100% completion in FFX. I got all the ultimate weapons, built a set of ultimate armor with Break HP Limit for each character, beat all of the Arena Bosses, and completely reworked my sphere grid until all of my characters had all of the abilities, 999MP, 255 Str/Def/Spd/Agi/Mgk/MgD, and about 150 luck.. and about 30000HP. I even taught all my Aeons all the spells available.

The only thing I was missing was finishing up the luck, and unlocking all of the overdrive modes for all the characters... and finishing up the HP...

I played Ikaruga on the hardest difficulty with only 1 life, no continues.

I'm surprised my controller didn't break after I threw it across the room.

Haven't done this sort of thing in a while. Most recent one was Castlevania: Curse Of Darkness. Going for 100% completion on all the maps...and getting at least one of every "endpoint" Innocent Devil...and stealing an item at least once from every creature in the game...and those repetitious Towers of Evermore and Eternity...

I still have no idea why I put myself through all that.

Heh, I feel you on that one. I played GT2 at a friend's house and liked it so much that I went ahead and bought it. Got home, popped it in, and then had to spend 3 hours taking license tests. On one of the braking tests I lost my cool and just spun the car out into the stop area and somehow got a gold mark. I never have managed to do it again.

Also the last level of Hitman: Bloodmoney, I refused to put down that control until it was done.I think I played an essentially 10 minutes level for about 6-7 hours.
I did it though.
Lolwut?

The White House level is really easy.

Now, the Boat, you try and Silent Assassin that on Professional, where guards aggro on you whilst you're getting frisked for weapons because, I dunno, they don't like baldies or something.

(I gunned my way through that with the M4 in the end)

I spent a good few hours trying to get the "Relics of a Forgotten Past" achievement on Too Human. It's entirely luck-based and consistently takes 60 hours to do. About 5 hours in I thought "Fuck this" and stopped. It's my only missing achievement from that game but honestly I don't care, the game wasn't great anyway.

Grinding in Gran Turismo 3. Granted, it was an enjoyable enough game that I was willing to do it, but entering the same exact race 30 times over just so I could buy a better car gets annoying after the 20th race.

Getting 100% on Crisis Core it isn't horribly difficult but it is really time consuming and repetitive.

Trying to get the global #1 score on any Osu! song the closest I have got is #19 and that was because only 40 people had played the song. Or trying to get a SS platinum ranking in a song where you use mods to make the game harder and then hit every single not and everything else in it.

Trying to beat I Wanna Be The Guy, I have only just got passed Mike Tyson and I am damn proud of just accomplishing that.

If it isn't fun or is not likely to be over soon then I don't play. And personally, I tend to take achievement systems as artificial ways of extending game/campaign life and don't bother with them. Any achievements I have on Xbox account, or in WoW (as examples) will have been incidental to play and not sought after.
exactly the same here =) ... except almost all of my friends are obsessed with gamer score, i couldnt give 2 shits because my games are spread over ps3, 360 and steam =P

That's a lot of grinding through Eden Prime...

Some years ago I remember not having computer access for a couple weeks. I ended up playing through mgs2 again at least 15 times, on every difficulty.... Fuck... Me....

In the middle of that process myself, minus the losing of the achievements. I salute you for getting past insane, because that shit is hard, I'm only looking for the last 150 in achievement points and they are so frustrating...

Going through every part of the Fade in Dragon Age : Origins Mage tower to get all the stat points. I hate that place so much and would love to just speed through it without going to all the nooks and crannies.
