Yes, I know this thread has probably already been created millions of times, but if you're planning on sending me hate mail and whatnot, theres no need.
On a slightly more emasculating note, what are your favourite gaming tear-jerkers?
Butch men fear not, no one's gonna take the piss... unless your answer is completely and utterly babyish, in which case grow up.
I'm not ashamed to admit that at least two moments in FFX made me shed a tear, not including the hours i spent weeping after realising I had spent about 200 hours of my life playing with imaginary Japanese characters.
So tell me what your ones are, I'm intrigued.

PS. yes fuck you was harsh, must have been in a bad mood.

On topic however, I've personally never been moved to tears by interactive video games. There's just something not very touching about the whole medium when you get to play it over and over, differently each time. Can't recall a character that permanently dies storyline-wise making me very sad either.
Same with me. I've never, ever been moved in such a way by a video game. I suspect that it is mostly because, well...Most games just aren't that well written, the characters just aren't all that compelling, or the scenes otherwise lack emotional impact. Like all the Gears of War 2 Dom and his wife scenes. They were WAY too melodramatic and both characters aren't particularly well-written, especially his wife...or was it his girlfriend? She is so underdeveloped that I don't even remember her name.

Even good story games, like RPGs or other games in genres with strong stories and characters, have failed to move me. Take Mass Effect. The moment where you must choose between two characters to determine which one lives or dies...It wasn't moving because the two characters involved were among the weaker, less compelling characters in the game, if you ask me anyway. I never particularly liked the two characters and never even used them, so there just wasn't much emotion.

One of the few moments in gaming that actually came close was the ending of Half-Life 2: Episode 2. But really...I've never played a game that moved me in such a way. I blame it mostly on the fact that so few games have even passable writing.

Have any actually teared me? No, not even close.

Would some moment if I was there? Probably.

There's always Sniper Wolf in MGS or when you finally learn about The Boss in MGS3

Well, I'm a bit of a softy... I confess I cried at Rosalina's storybook in Super Mario Galaxy.

I cry at the wrong times, especially the happy parts.
I weeped at Cait Sith sacrificing his body for the planet. He looked so happy, just bouncing along.
My boyfriend said, "Don't worry, another one will be coming along."
And when he comes up and says, "Hello, I'm Cait Sith #2" I cried again and demanded the old Cait Sith back XD

It's probably because he was a kitty.

The only time I ever remember crying from something that happened in a game was seeing Aeris die for the first time in FFVII. I wasn't actually playing the game, I was nine and had been watching my brother play through most of the story so it still hit me hard.

Beyond that I can't remember a game ever bringing me to tears since, but there have still been several moments in games that still had an impact. Out of common courtesy I'll put them in spoiler tags.

I first played Starcraft around age eleven, and the death and rebirth of Kerrigan more than a slap across the face.
Finding out that Harlon Wade had been experimenting on his own daughter Alma was just perverse in the worst kind of way. Simply being killed by Alma was too good for him. He deserved far worse.
Depending on how you played the game, you had to suffer through the deaths of either Kaiden or Ashley along with possibly Wrex. As much of an impact as their deaths might of had, what really stuck with me happened at the very end of the game on The Citadel. After talking to Saren he realized what he had become and shot himself in the head to keep himself from tipping even farther over the edge.
After playing through the game on the Light side of the Force I wasn't able to save Bastila at the end. I had to kill her on the Star Forge. Considering the romantic sub-plot my character had with her that hit pretty close to home. That's one of the very few things that have ever happened in a game that I still regret.

The ending to Kingdom Hearts made me teary-eyed.
It was so sad :(

I haven't played through the other Kingdom Hearts games (I've only played them for a little bit) because they suck and because of the fact that they lack a little thing called story... Which is understandable since the first Kingdom Hearts had an ENDING.

Kaim's dreams in Lost Odyssey. They take a lot of time to read through but it's very much worth it.

Well, usually I'll just point out (sometimes more politely than others) that the thread has already been created, and link to an easy search button result. I do this implying that there's a very clear rules thread at the top of the forum that says that you're supposed to try to create unique threads.

However, when somebody is brazenly creating non-unique threads, like you are here, I don't have to do that. Instead, I just report the thread. Then the admins take your back sass into consideration, and you have to catch them on a real good day not to get slapped.

The killing of my family, and most importanly, my dog in Fable 2. Now who is going to give me gifts and help me find treasure?

The only gaming event that has made me cry is the ending of Silent Hill 2 because I can relate to it.

Actually to be honest, Gear of War 2 NEARLY did when
Dom finally finds his wife but she's a shell of her former self and he decides to end her misery.

That was only yesterday! What a wussie I am.
