But they r sooo much fun, and make lotsa sense. I mean come on u either get to escort some uber powered guy like in wow who if had any common sense who actually get outa the place easily or u get to escort some weak little woose who walks at the pace of a turtle who some form of warzone just to really annoy u and give u basically nuthin for ur attempts or just dies in some cutscene after

anyway i actually rather enjoy em :p

downing the health regen in a lot more games, either use items to heal, super slow health regen or bandage ur ripped off leg is my opinion of good healing ^^

Pointless Gimmicks because of the hardware. (looking at you DS / Wii ¬_¬)
What he said.

Plus, achievements designed to make you play again - such as inFamous's good/bad achievements.
That's where Fable 2 excells really, you can complete the good AND bad acheivements with 1 character.

Nothing mentioned so far I have a gripe with. What does piss me off is this stupid fucking Motion Sensor trend. I'm a gamer, and my bones are made out of silly string and are incapable of spastic flailing for 10 hours to play a game.

Quick Time Events, Achievements, Regenerating Health Meters, even Shitty Vehicle Sections don't bother me, they add both difficulty and frustration to gaming which considering how easy games are these days make the added challenge welcome.

Forced racing sections in Jump & Runs. I hate them!
Pretty much this, Super Mario Galaxy served to reinforce that hatred. Also, persistent low-health sounds (i.e Link to the Past).

do you mean everything unlockable, or just characters? I ask because as a whole i like to unlock things, gives me something to do and therefore increases the live of the game by a huge amount.
I disagree. I don't like unlocking things because I am very specific about how I want to play. There are certain weapon/clothing/combat styles that I always use and I want them from the start. If I have to play the game for ages with my character not looking right then by the time I have the stuff I want then I'm probably fed up with the game.

Multiplayer achievements that require me to go out of my way and play in an inefficient or uncomfortable manner to get them. Doubly so if these achievements are linked to unlockables.

And defend ones, especially when you have next to no ammo.

If you took every unlock out of MW2 then multi player and already had them unlocked, then wouldn't be anywhere near as good.

Multiplayer achievements/trophies, the bane of online gaming.
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH I agree! I look onto F.E.A.R. 2 and Quake 4 with disdain that I'll never unlock those achievements because... They're practically dead severs.

Giving you access to a certain weapon/spell/combat technique/mound/pet/ally or other beneficial aspect in a game long enough for you to make it part of your core combat strategy, only to later arbitrarily remove it for no really good reason.

Crates and barrels.

Really, how often do you actually see crates or barrels day to day?

ALMOST NEVER.

Worst of all are ones that not only explode, but that will go off just by being sneezed on.
Barrels that explode when you hit them withaknife, that's stupid indeed.

I'd like to see not complete disappearance, but decrease in "magically regenerating health" systems. Or at least some attempts at justification.
I think having the old health system would be nice, but you could have it that you carry healing items on your character's person.

E.g: You've got a battle coming up, so you buy some whiskey for pain relief and some bandages to stop yourself from bleeding to death, just in case.
Work the economy into your character's life expectancy, it'd be good.

Actually, I always hate that in games with economies that you get less money from people than it cost you to buy bullets.

Now, I'm not saying money should be easy to get, but some games just hike the prices up for no other reason than to piss you off and I don't play a game to want to rip a store clerks head off.

That's why most good games have the kindness to leave ammo crates laying around on defend missions.

Except that last mission on The Ballad Of Gay Tony... fuckin' hate that mission.

I loathe escort missions.

Also you know in a lot of shooters if you're getting shot your screen starts turning red. Even in shooters where that doesn't indicate your health. It's bloody annoying. All it does is make it harder to see the screen making it more and more likely for you to die.

Paid DLC.

Most defiantly the ones released on the same day as the actual game...

DLC that just unlock things that are already in the game but locked, why dont they have them in the full game. Its just douchebaggery to milk us off some extra money

Regenerating health as it makes games too easy I think a more Resistance or Far Cry2 system would be better where your health regenerates to certain checkpoints as this is what made Quake 4 for me as it had health packs but was that game hard.

Also I'd like to see good quick time events that are a core part of gameplay instead of just something tacked on at the end to have them for example God of War makes them a core part of it so either do it like that or not at all.

There is something sinister creeping up in games at the moment.

I'm putting large amounts of time into Dragon Age Origins and I'm really enjoying the game. I'm kind-of a completionist when it comes to these sorts of games, I want to make sure no stone is left unturned and every piece of good armour and every good weapon is at my disposal for the fights ahead...

So far everything is fine.. but I see that they've introduced in-game (whilst you're playing, part of the game map) DLC which you have to pay for.. So the completionist like me is having this carrot dangled in front of their eyes saying... here's a bit of the game you're not going to be able to play because:

a) I'm not paying extra for a bit of the game referenced in the main map.. I paid for it dammit!
b) My XBOX is not online so I couldn't get it if I wanted to. (I live in rural England and Broad band is mostly considered to be an overweight musical quartet)

The game was over £30, why should I have to pay more? As it happens, I have a voucher with my game to get this particular DLC for free.. but my point still stands.. I can't download it.

This particular instance is relatively harmless.. it's not a main part of the story, it's just a nice to have.

But how soon before it becomes part of the main story arm? How soon before a mission is incredibly hard unless you opt to buy the DLC?

Slippery slope or paranoia?

Sorry for the large post..

Some games do it the right way. Take Borderlands for example. Zombie Island of Dr Ned is an exansion, as opposed to a part of the original game. So it's not so much a slippery slope...

You know how l4d it makes it black and white when you're on your last bit of health? Screw that.
