The COD series. It's turned into a perk fest made for the masses ever since COD2 and the fans have turned into obnoxious twelve year olds. And the gameplay is outdated and just needs to die before it's milked even more every year and still called "TEH BEST GAME EVA!"

Regenerating health. I hate how games let you heal within a few seconds after getting shot. Even the new Deus Ex is getting regen health. THANK YOU SO MUCH CONSOLE OWNERS!

Oh yeah trophies/achievements are pointless pieces of shit to addict people to games and games with easy tropies/achievements will get bought even though they're complete and utter shit. Thank you again for helping shitty cash-in-movie games made by shitty devs get your money and make more shitty cash in games console owners.

Working hard to unlock some mystery thing and finding it's concept art and 'making-of' videos. Seriously, who the fuck is going to care...

DLC you have to pay for is rediculous, that needs to die slowly and painfully.

Chance of critical attacks or misses, I know they kind of make it more interesting but they can make the game more interesting in better ways.

Two actions for one button, this is kinda hard to explain but one perfect example would be in Brawl when you are off the ground next to the wall, moving the joystick in the other direction will make you jump of the wall and it's really annoying. Many games have this lately and it needs to die in a fire.

Pointless convo's, usually in RPG's where characters will start a conversation that is extremely boring and lame, not only that but you can't skip the whole damn thing, you can only press the one button to speed it up.

You know how much Yahtzee hates quick-time events, right? Name something you think games need to stop doing.

For instance:
Unlockable characters. When I unlock the hidden characters in Smash Bros Brawl, I just wonder why I couldn't ahve been given them to start with.
If you had the characters to start with then there wouldn't have been much point playing the game, would there?

Anyway: The current trend in FPSs to have the health system whereby hiding behind cover for a few seconds will let you take infinite numbers of bullets... it kills the immersion.
Medal Of Honour Pacific Assault did it best, with your medic friend being able to carry 4 medkits.

regenetrative health in shooting games needs to die a painful death.
it takes all of the action and suspence out of the game when you can mearly suck your thumb and gather back all your health. i think a better alternative is a health system much like the L4D one. temporary health in the form of pain killers and carried health packs make the entire thing a good part of the game.

i know gimping around with 1 bar of health with no health pack trying to get through a particularly difficult part can be hell, but it makes it all that much more satisfying to do just that. i mean finding that one mini health bar that gives you only 20 health back you almost say 'Oh thank god!' aloud.

DLC that Isn't DLC needs to die too.
opening Day DLC is not DLC... that is trying to scam a few extra bucks out of you for something that should of been in the game from the start. i am all for DLC, if it is like a mini expansion. and i'd be willing to pay for it too. but don't try and shill on me that little bit of the game that hit the editting room floor shortly before release as DLC...

I loathe escort missions.

Also you know in a lot of shooters if you're getting shot your screen starts turning red. Even in shooters where that doesn't indicate your health. It's bloody annoying. All it does is make it harder to see the screen making it more and more likely for you to die.
You know how l4d it makes it black and white when you're on your last bit of health? Screw that.
It's realistic though. If you had lost that much blood, you would be starting to completely black out.
What I hate id the current trend seems to be as you get hit in fps's, your eyesight starts being covered with blood. It's not coo, it's annoying and makes it difficult to stop yourself from being killed by the guy firing at you. Modern Warfare 2, you're the main fucking culprit.

Unlockable characters, concept art, multiplayer levels (oh, hello there, Goldeneye, I didn't see you come in) et al provide an incentive to keep playing. Following your logic, no game should include power ups, either, as every character should have every ability from the get-go, which pretty much eliminates every non-linear game out there.

What do I not want to see in games anymore?

Cheaters in FPS's. There's got to be a way to kick them off. Dr. Zoidberg, what do you say?
"Permanently, even."
Dr. Zoidberg says ban them permanently.

The trend of dumbing down games to increase mass appeal. Bring my challenge back! No, I don't want a Prince of Persia who can't die!

FPS's should at least take a break from World War II or even modern "realistic" war simulation, and take a break from the parade of scifi cliches as well.

DLC that just unlock things that are already in the game but locked, why dont they have them in the full game. Its just douchebaggery to milk us off some extra money

Escort mission with exceptions.
If i can give a gun and sword to somebody who i must escort, it's ok. Make them helpful.

No way, that is where replayability comes on games, especially Castle Crashers.

I believe regenerating health was pioneered in Halo hence console. However back then many of us thought it was a good thing...

I think we need to see the end of day 1 patches. Please fix the game and then release it. Please?

personaly I like unlockable characters they had replay value and challange to games but back to the question they need to get rid of achievements for dumb stuff such as one for beating a level they need to start making them about achieving thing again such as the side pule in games like rocket powered freemen was .

Missions where you need to protect a bunch of suicidal idiots.

And timed missions too.

ah. I was thinking Halo, but with FPS on pc before Halo, I assumed their must have been some fps before it that had regen health. Though honestly im probaly the only one here that dosent mind it. Also honestly halo had a great regan health system. How you had a shield and then you had Health. basically borderlands system just without a shield that can get you regen health.

I have no problem with Regen health as long as it makes since. People rag on it, but Halo's regeneration systems makes sense. (Halo 1 had a hybrid of both.) Modern Warefare 2's system does not however. So it works in some context and not in others.

You guys want a real health system immersion game? Play Call of Cathulu. No HUD at all except for your hands. You can only heal/check health/check ammo and everything else when you go to your inventory menu.

Achievements I have no problem with, but then I don't bother with them in the first place. If they are too hard, I don't even try for them.

Paid DLC I have no problem with so long as it is good DLC. Then again, I can choose not to buy it.

I have two problems I hate.

1. Escort missions: ESPECIALLY when I have to escort them AND protect them. I don;t mind them if the one I am escorting can defend themselves so I don;t need to hold their hand all the way.

2. I absolutely hate infinite spawning enemies. I hate when developers add this in to "challenge" you, but when they have like 400% accuracy all with aiming for headshots then it becomes near impossible. Even on easy they are hard as hell. Imagine them on the hardest difficulty.

Whereas walking over a white box with a red cross on it magically makes your health jump up fifty points totally adds to it?

When the CDs are being printed, there can still be errors and bugs be found in the game by the developing team/testers/customers who already bought the game. It's waaaay to expensive to recall all the printed CDs to release bugfixed versions instead. A patch is easier and cheaper.

Mute protagonist's

I don't care if it's to make you feel immersed I think its just laziness and saving money for dialogue and voice actors
