Any of the early Call of Duty games.

*Wakes up in a boat*
"Woah where the hell am I?"
"Uh just off the French coast, it's June sixth.
"Shit."
Instead of shit, the better response would have been, "GOOD GOD!!!". Also, I would hate to be in the world of Oblivion, listening to people saying the same thing over and over would drive me insane lol.
This. It my be cool like in the first few minutes, but then you just want to kill yourself because of bland retarded all the people of Tamriel are.

Also, any horror-related and post-apocalyotic related video game is a definite no for me.

I always opted for the Tenpenny Tower route...

But I agree. Unless I get all the benefits of my leveled up character (plus Dogmeat), I don't think I'd last more than two seconds in the Capitol Wasteland... Or on an alien space ship... Or in some swamp... Or in Pittsburgh.

Well Basically the warhammer 4ok universe, but i want to be in it and fear to be in.
At Least in the WH40K universe you would be somewhat used to the idea of constantly being at war (with Iraq) and your values would be changed to that Ideal. Watch the movie Starship Troopers. In Katamari, you could be walking down the street, and then suddenly some punk with a Tatami Rolls you up so that you could "Be a Star"! I mean, how many Hollywood hopefuls have heard that line?

Warhammer 40k. Think about it. In pretty much every other games, things suck in 1 place. Silent Hill is fine, just don't go to Silent Hill. A place like Half Life is totalitarian sure, but you can potentially keep your head down and you might be fine. And plenty of games have bad things happening for a short time, followed by everything being mostly better. But in 40K, there is no place to escape to (even other planets), and if the aliens don't murder you, then the Imperium probably will. Imagine the most hardcore, right wing Christian nutjobs you can imagine. Then make them the only leadership anywhere. Now bring back the crusades, add human sacrifice, and introduce aliens try to kill you. Give the religious fanatics power armor, chainsaw swords, and bolters, and remove all the at least decent, nice things Jesus brings to the party. That would suck. Your best bet would be to have your home taken over by the Tau, and somehow not be exterminated by...everything else in the universe. And even that would suck pretty bad. Yeah, Warhammer is oproberally the worst world to live in. Because everyone there is a bunch of dicks.

Westwood's Tiberium Sun. The world's slowly being consumed by a toxic resource which a terrorist group, with impressive tech, is obsessed with. The number of safe zones are slowly diminishing, whether it's NOD knocking at your door or some Tiberium turned mutants. Not to mention, the world now has the Scrin to look out for - An alien race who's equally obsessed with the resource, and they're plan is to move from planet to planet, completely ravaging said planet of anything useful. And our only hope is the GDI, a military force spread thin.

WH40k. Mankind is essentially a worse version of a Nazi Soviet Union, and pretty much everyone you see (human, green-skinned fanged brute, hideous chitinous monstrosity) wants to kill you in a very painful manner. And no-one cares.

Fallout 3. I wouldn't set foot out of Megaton, until they kicked me out for being broke. And then I'd die.

Call of Duty. I mean, it's WWII. Who honestly wants to live in WWII?

Guild Wars: Prophecies. The Searing. 'nuff said.
You do know that Nazi-ism and Communism are ideologically complete opposites to one another, right?

Being a homeowner in LoZ.
I can see it now:

Homeowner: *Here's loud cry's of Yaaaahhh coming from his/her house and goes to investigate*
*Enters house*
Homeowner: WHY IS EVERYTHING ALWAYS BROKEN!

I'd have to go with fallout 3 aswell, I'd just end up living in megaton till I was thrown out for killing Moriarty.

How about not being in any game universe? They're all horribly violent and enemy-filled.
There's always the Sims... except then you've got to worry about getting a sick bastard for the player controlling you.

"Do you think Sims feel pain?"

"You're a monster and you're going straight to hell!"

Leo and Aeris: VG cats.

I don't know if this has been said but I reckon a better topic would be what game world would you want to be in.

95% of them are horrible places.

I'm afraid the optimistic side of this coin has been done to death. I was trying to go for something different with this thread... unfortunately there seems to be a rather wider selection of miserable galaxies than there are positive ones to choose from.

Just makes it all the more challenging to find the suckiest. The prize for the worst gaming universe? FREE AIR!!!

PS: Free air is pretty valuable in some of these universes!

Final Fantasy X

Me: So whats that whale looking thing fly at us?
NPC: Oh that's sin he is just going to kill us and we cant do anything about it.
Me: What why cant you kill it, why doesn't anyone fight back?
NPC: Well the only way to kill it is to sacrifice yourself to turn into a summon that can kill it, but then you turn into sin after that.
Me: Well screw that.

Hmm, this is a good question. Theres a few i'd not like:

Half-Life universe: I mean, being shifted from City to City and having a uber communist leader?

Bioshock: Nuf-Said

Duke Nukem: When I played Duke Nukem 3D there wasn't many people alive tbh

Fallout 3: I spose if your in a vault it's not too bad, but wouldn't like to be in the wastelands

Hellgate London: Well, would you want to live in that sort of place?
