I could see using fingerless gloves or very snug (like anti-arthritis) gloves, but most of the time I find them a little too cumbersome to use constantly, especially since it interferes with my grip on the controller. I usually don't let the temperature get down low enough to really need them. If my digits get a little chilly I oftentimes don't even notice. It has to be really cold for me to recognize that my fingers are about to grow rigid and break off.
I have worn nice dress gloves while gaming before, which worked well enough, though I dropped the controller like a dozen times.

As far as PC gaming...never tried it, but I doubt I could do it with gloves that weren't fingerless.
