Wrong. It was an RTS, then a more open TPS, then an FPS. Get your facts right. I think the biggest secret the pronunciation of W'rkncacnter, S'pht'kr (from Lh'owon), Y'gar 'Pewtrunoee (a Sangheili) and Dr'Ate'R. Seriously, how the HELL do you say any of those?

We don't. We just go along for the ride, don't ask questions, and shoot the funny names. And remark overused one liners in which relate to military objectives and tactics, of course. Along with racial remarks.

And frag blast vent cores. Don't forget that.

Actually, the quote from Marathon 2 IS Frog Blast The Vent Core, it was a random thing yelled by the Simalcrums BOBs, who explode when they get near you. It has no meaning, but people always try to give it one.

Yeah, most people haven't heard of Marathon or things from it even though it was an FPS with a deep story that came before Half-Life, mainly because it came out on the Mac. I'd say one of the best kept secrets was unlocking the Mew Glitch(catching mew in pokemon red/blue without use of external help). Pokemon was released in 1996 and the secret wasn't cracked until 2003. For one of the worlds biggest games the fact that it took 7 years to find that out is pretty amazing. Given it is super complicated and I can only imagine the first person to do it stumbled across it. Our government can't even keep secrets for 7 years. Go GameFreak.

Actually I herd Donkey Kong is a typo and was originally meant to be Monkey Kong which may have been poor Japanese translation for king kong.

Also, Id really love to know what was in that damn chest in calm town in FF7. It knaws away at my sanity still after all these years.

I didn't think that was a secret as I remember them saying something about wanting to bring PC standard of FPS games to consoles or something along those lines.
