Thane from Mass Effect 2. From the moment which entered the game I loved him. The cutscene from his recruitment mission was incredibly awesome, from which point I lay down the controlled and said: "Yep, that's my new squadmate!"
He ruined my game experience as well, as the suicide mission went, well, to shit.
Uh, I know there were Polish tankers in COD 3. They were bad ass I think.
OT: I'm going to choose Irish from Red Dead Redemption. He may have been a drunk that never helped me, but I enjoyed every cut scene with him.

I was getting worried. A page and a half of Russians, and it is always Russians, and yet the closest thing to Father Grigori was sort of mention from the guy from New Zealand. I can think of any video game characters that's half as badass as this guy.Blind Sight said:

Does Zevran from Dragon Age: Origins count? He's basically fantasy-Spanish, and if you want to split hairs he IS technically a foreigner in the setting he's in.
If it has to be a real-world ethnicity different than my own, I'm gonna go with Bill McDonagh (Scottish) from Bioshock. Even if you never get to meet him, he still leaves a great impression as a grumpy mechanic turned disillusioned enforcer for Ryan.
Raiden and Grey Fox from MGS are pretty cool too. Both African, if I remember correctly (though both white as snow as well, so eh).
I honestly can never see why Russians always dominate threads like this? Is it the accents, or the callous disregard for petty things like human life and general sanity they are always portrayed as having?
