Tomas

Tomas growled a bit as he lay on the ground. Getting helped up by Viktor as Tomas nods his head. "Thanks for the info..." He stated as he walks back to the sparring area. Stretching out a bit more as he tries to get more used to his dragon like body. Feeling the urge to rip Viktor to pieces, but suppressing it.

He felt his pride hurt a tiny bit from being beaten but push it out of his thoughts. 'This is why I need to get better.' He thought to himself. Getting ready for another round as he waits for Viktor to get ready. He look around briefly, seeing they were drawling a crowd in their match. His eyes focus back on Viktor as he charges once more. Faster this time. Not holding back his punches as he lands a few hard punches into his stomach, face, and chest. Pushing him back faster this time and keeping him on his toes. When he see Viktor try to counter, he would counter back with his tail. Learning from what Viktor had said, as he knock away any punches or kicks he would do.

'now I got him!' Thought Tomas as he press his attack.

William

William toss and turn within the small bed. Nightmares plague his mind as he sleeps. Grunting in pain as he starts to sweat. Shivering and mumbling about something that was barely audible. Before he jump forward with his upper body. Letting out a yelp of fear as he pants heavily. Looking around, as he see he woke some people up. Giving a quick sorry as he walks out.

Wiping the sweat off as he thought he might need a shower. Or at least just some cold water to cool off his face. Walking around the compound a bit, trying to keep to himself. Even though some of the other teammates that saw him ask if he was alright. Saying he was alright and it was just jitters of fighting demons.

Viktor watched Tomas through a neutral expression as the kid got back to his feet. He?s angry?good; now let?s see what he does with that anger. Tomas attacked again, faster and harder than before and Viktor grunted in pain as Tomas landed successful hits on his chest and abdomen, and a ?bell ringer? to the left side of his head. Backing off to let himself clear his head, Viktor smiled. Came in from the left, good move. Obviously emboldened by his successful strikes, and shutting down of Viktor?s initial counter-attack, Tomas began to push hard again, forcing Viktor to give ground.

In a ?ruled? match, Viktor was pretty sure Tomas would be more than a challenge for him with only a bit more training to polish some of the kid?s rough edges?unfortunately Viktor preferred to fight in the ?real world?, and that meant there weren?t any rules other than ?win?. He deliberately took Tomas? next punch square in the chest, shifting his weight to his right foot as the impact drove him backwards; as soon as enough weight came off his left foot, he snapped in forward into Tomas? groin?not hard enough to do lasting damage, but enough that he definitely felt it.

Catching himself as Tomas reeled from the hit, Viktor backed off to let him recover. ?You fight well Tomas. Too many with capabilities like yours would just try and smash their way through a fight, relying on brute strength and toughness to carry the day?and would get their asses handed to them the first time they ended up in a real fight; but you are actually interested in learning how to fight, which gives you a big leg up?that said you?re still too ?rule bound?, unwilling to exploit openings or use moves that would be considered ?cheap?.?

The crowd that was watching did a little "Ooh" sound when Tomas got kick in the groin. He laid on the ground, holding his groin as he felt sharp pain going through him. He knew in real life, cheap shots were a given, it was after a fight to death most times. Though he never thought Viktor would do so in a sparring match. "Still..a.fucking..dick." Tomas cough out as he breath in and out.

He felt he would puke any moment, but he was able to hold that back. Coughing as he got his breathing under control. Slowly getting back to his feet as he felt his legs a bit shaking from the hit still. He change back to his human form, grunting a bit as his body change slightly. The dark blue scales going away.

"Next time, I won't let that happen..but for now. I'm going to go rest a bit." He said as he walk slowly over to a bench to cool off.

"Next time, I won't let that happen..but for now. I'm going to go rest a bit."

?Good to hear.? Viktor replied, snagging a couple of bottles of water and tossing one to Tomas. ?I?m sorry about the nut shot, but you did leave yourself open; I left a few ?cheap shots? open to you during that, and you didn?t really exploit them?other than blind-siding me with that hook to my head?nice shot by the way.?

Sitting beside Tomas, he sighed and rolled his shoulders before cracking the bottle and having a drink. ?For an ?amateur? you?ve got a lot of potential, even without being part dragon, but you need to work on exploiting every opening you can.? He?d lost track of the number of times he?d had some variation of this conversation with someone over the years, but then again it was hard for anyone who?d never faced real combat to accept the necessity of doing whatever was necessary to survive a fight.

"Thanks..I rather not take cheap shots. Though..I suppose I need to get used to doing them to survive." He said as he takes the water bottle. Taking a drink as he watch everyone move away from the fighting area. Going back to training as Tomas and Viktor talk. "Plus I didn't want to ruin our fight..it was after all..a spar and not something life and death."

Drinking some water as he let the quiet moment between them go for a bit. Before bringing up something Tomas wanted to say for awhile. "I do not believe William should be on the team." Looking over to see Viktor reaction. He knew they were kindof close to each other, friends wise.

"I do not believe William should be on the team."

Viktor grimaced and took a sip of water before he answered. ?I assume this is, at least partially, due to his more nervous nature?? He said after a moment. ?Personally I?m of two minds on that. On one hand, that ?rifle form? of his is quite handy as we are definitely lacking in long range capabilities; but on the other hand, you?re right he is to ?young? to be caught in this kind of fighting?hell, and don?t take this the wrong way, but with the exception of that Karis jackass, and maybe Juliet, none of you should be anywhere near this type of shit.?

Idly watching the crowed disperse, he ran his left hand over the scarred side of his head. ?I wasn?t much older than you when the Nazis rolled over my country. Some were glad to see them, anyone who shot Soviets was welcome in their eyes; I just saw another group of thugs. I tried to just ignore the fighting as best I could and get on with my life?until a stray artillery shell levelled the tenement me and my father shared, killing him. So I went to war, killing Nazis and Soviets alike, trying to drive both sides out?but it changes you, the killing, it changes who you are and not for the betting in a lot of cases.?

Taking off his eye patch he began to fiddle with it without really looking at his hands. ?If you think I?m a grumpy asshole now you should?ve seen me then?that?s why I?d rather not have any of you out here, you still have a chance to be a well-adjusted person.?

"God ... I can't live you guys alone for a minute can I, turn my back for an afternoon and everything goes to hell." Sierra remarked in a snarky manner. "I do hope some one slapped Seth from bringing in a fucking Mind Flayer in though, that's like trusting a Vampire to watch a blood bank."

"Yeah, guess it is like that. I think Viktor gave Seth a punch to the head once we arrived here now that you mention it." Daniel replied as he let off a short laugh, finding the situation somewhat humorous.

"If the feline is here, I guess I should head back to the Command Tent." Karis said as he got up from his spot. As he passed by Daniel he said something into his ear. "Do me a favour, make sure she gets to the medical staff." Daniel gave a nod of confirmation in response as Karis gave a short wave before heading towards the main area of the base.

"Not surprised, I am going to be doing some work for The Queens, he's probably looking for me for some form of 'orientation', since I was told to expect to head out with them after this matter with Lucifer is settled, so that'll be interesting when I get that call."

"Still if the Angels have joined up with the demons, that's really concerning. Are we gonna have to start fighting off them now as well cause we're helping the 'new order' in the demon realm?" Sierra then asked, her tone shifting rapidly to concern.

"That is a possibility Sierra, though it all depends on the number of Angels that are a part of this plot; because I hardly believe that all of them want in on this, hell, the notion of one Angel, let alone more working alongside the Demons doesn't make sense, yet here we are, the evidence supporting it laid bare before us."

"Still, let's not get too far ahead of ourselves, the stakes may have just raised, but it is no reason to panic."

"But let's not think about it for now. So, what's the deal about working for the Queens then?" Daniel asked, quickly changing the subject.

Sierra

Sierra took a breath. "Should have brought some pain killers..." she said, the ones she'd taken before leaving seeming to be wearing off, and pulled out a small crystal, like the ones used for recording messages. "Through out the Demon Realm there are ruins, lots of them, and old, ancient even by the standard of a Demon's life span. They hold great interest to the Queens, Riviera mostly but as I've been told, both deem them highly important, and some of these ruins and ancient structures, are locked behind a sort of 'magical bio-metric lock' of sorts, so the teams responsible for exploring these places look for the 'keys' to these 'locks' and apparently I'm one of these 'keys'." She explained, pausing to take another 'cleansing' breath.

"I'm not the only 'key' though, not even for this particular lock am I the only key. But I'm sure you wanna know why I accepted right?. The reason is two fold. 1) I can get Ansoth and his flunky's off mine, and my family's backs by signing on. I'll be 'to valuable' to harm from then on, and his realm has these ruins to, so he's just going to have to deal with not being able to kill me, or," she snickered a little at this next bit "Karis, if he wants the goodies that are buried beneath his feet." Her rightfully prideful expression returning to a more neutral one. "The second reason being, Gungnir needs the data hidden in these ruins. The weapons used by the group that attacked the school have ties to these ruins, my guess is they have accesses to one and are using it's secrets against us. So we need to know what we're dealing with, and the only way to do that is to sign on. So I have, some one had to and since they asked me first, might as well strike while the irons hot right?" Sierra said, touching the crystal, causing it to flash before tossing it to Daniel.

"And since I'm probably gonna be laid up at the next, I'm assuming to be soon, team meeting, I need some one to let the others know whats going on. Would you mind delivering that to that over grown hand bag and matching shoes we call Seth? Cause I think it's time I headed toward some one with a medical degree, stupid painkillers are wearing off hard."

A little later

A few hours after Alexander arrived, the teams where called in to discuss the the updated information, and the plan the where going to use. Which Daughtry full admitted was not the best, but given the time limit, would have to do. The plan was; They would force open the gate, something Seth said he had the means to do but it would take a few days to get the needed staff and tools here, from there the teams would be divided into two groups, one group would be tasked with keeping security busy, while a second smaller team, composed of every one present who specialized in 'stealth' would make for the the barrier stones and destroy them. Seth cut in here and said that they would be given the means to locate these stones, they where anticipating only two stones, but where told to expect more targets.

Daughtry stressed the importance of getting the barrier down quickly, as the gate would be closed once the teams where through, sighting that they would be relying on getting the shield down so that troops from both the Queens and Ansoth's army could come in and finish the job, with Queens themselves handling the primary target of Lucifer.

Seth added that they would be briefed again before the start of the mission on any new developments and that for now they should focus on getting ready, as the mission would start in five days.

Day of the mission

The day of the mission came sooner then most would have liked, as no one was really looking forward to 'invading' the Demon Realm but there they all stood, ready as they where ever going to be. The only addendum was that the guard seemed to have tightened a bit other wise nothing seemed to have changed. The more religious among them lead them in prayer, asking for the strength and wisdom needed to be victorious and deliver them all safely home.

With nothing else to say, or really needing to be said, Seth gave the order and the Gate opened, several people fired smoke grenades through to confuse and mask where teams where as they started through, those on the 'Assault' team going first with the 'Stealth' team moving in shortly after.

Tomas

Tomas nodded as he did agreed to that point. They shouldn't be doing this but he then look at Viktor. "True..we shouldn't be out here. Though if we don't..who will? With all these attacks happening, no one is doing anything about it. The old guards don't care..and the new ones don't seem to be doing much as it is now...it seems we have to step up and take it over..if we don't then a lot more innocents are going to get hurt." He said.

After a bit more of quietness between them, Tomas stood and start to walk away. Feeling a bit better to walk now. "Thanks for the lesson and the talk." He said, as he walk off. Feeling the need to be alone for now.

Day of the mission

Days pass as both Tomas and William prepare for the mission in their own way. Both training with someone or learning to trasform more. For Tomas it was to learn to control his dragon side when he was fully draconic state.Getting better at it though not well enough. While William was training with Viktor to fight better and better under control of her nerves.

Both pushing to the limit as this mission was going to be big. While there was no problems from William end, besides the few sleepless nights due to nightmares. Tomas did have a bad run in with a random member of another team. Which would have ended badly if they weren't broken up.

Tomas

Tomas watch as the gate open up. Taking a deep breath as he was getting a bit nervous. They really have no idea what kind of fight is going to happen on the other side. Transforming into his half form for now. His dark blue scales covering his body once more as the move with the assault team. Preparing himself for the fight ahead.

William

William look over at Viktor, wondering what the Vampire was thinking of this plan. Probably didn't think much of it besides of how rush it seem to be. Though with so little time, nothing else to do but attack and put faith on the stealth team to do as much as they can to lower the barrier.

"Um..Viktor..should.." William said, as he thought of what to say. "Should I change into my rifle form now? So we can cover the rest of the team as every start to push through. Though as he wait for Viktor answer, his thoughts turn to Juliet and Sol. Hoping they are ok and everything goes according to plan for them.

"Thanks for the lesson and the talk."

?Any time.? Viktor replied, watching Tomas leave. Left to his ow devices once more, and unable to find a willing sparring partner, he resumed his ?shadow boxing? routine.

Now

The days had flicked passed, and he?d spent most of them with William, working to build up the boy?s confidence and nerves as well as control of his abilities. Standing before the gate, the grimace that had creased his face for the past week deepened a bit further. Daughtry had been right, this was a less than ideal plan, but it was the best they could do with the pressures they were faced with. Tepes could?ve raised an ARMY if we?d had just a bit more lead time? There was no more time to dwell on ?might-have-beens?, the mission was on now.

"Um...Viktor...should?Should I change into my rifle form now? So we can cover the rest of the team as everyone starts to push through.?

Placing a reassuring hand on William?s shoulder, he smiled at the boy. ?That?s a good idea William, though I have a request as it were?do you think you could add a bayonet to your ?rifle-form??? ?I?um...I?ll see what I can do.? William replied hesitantly, as he grasped the implications of why Viktor would make such a request. As William changed, grenadiers opened fire, lobbing smoke through the portal.

Grasping the now fully transformed William, Viktor raised the bayonet equipped bio-rifle over his head. ?Pick your targets carefully and watch each others backs. Don?t get separated from the group, and stay near the portal; the more defenders we pull our way, the easier it will be for the second team.? He yelled over the general hubbub. His job now was to be the biggest, and most dangerous, distraction he could be?and that was something Viktor was very good at.

Taking a deep breath, he let loose with a bellowing war cry that he hadn?t used in nearly seventy years, and charged. Exiting the portal, he found himself in smoke shrouded ruins of a very old fortress, with a coughing and confused demon right in front. Ramming the bayonet up and in to the demon?s chest, he pulled the trigger twice before dumping the smoking corpse onto the ground. Taking cover behind the remains of a wall, he took aim and dropped two more demons before they really realized they were under attack.

Then

"And since I'm probably gonna be laid up at the next, I'm assuming to be soon, team meeting, I need some one to let the others know whats going on. Would you mind delivering that to that over grown hand bag and matching shoes we call Seth? Cause I think it's time I headed toward some one with a medical degree, stupid painkillers are wearing off hard."

"Of course Sierra, though he's bound to find out anyway; you know how Seth can be. Here, let me help you over to the tent, just in case." Daniel said, putting an arm around Sierra as they walked over to the Medical Tent. After Sierra was inside Daniel left.

Over the course of the next couple of days, Daniel managed to get in contact with The Order and provided them with a much needed update regarding current events. Suffice to say they were shocked at the amount of progress that the Demons had made in their plans. When the subject of Zaqiel came up, The Council asked Daniel whether or not he'd be comfortable in confronting his own kin; his response was that, whilst he'd try to limit the violence between the two, if push came to shove, he'd do what would needed to be done.

The Council had even suggested sending over a squad to assist, but Daniel flatly declined, stating that there was simply a lack of time to get a team fully briefed, equipped and deployed to Japan; and that there would need to be enough ready and able bodied Knights available in case the worse should come to pass. He also suggested a temporary close of the Argartha Network for a similar reasons, whether or not they would, wasn't his choice to make.

Now

Daniel drew his sword out, twirling it around a few times and watching a faint light emanate from it as the grenadiers fired smoke rounds into the portal to provide the team with some cover and to sew a bit of confusion amongst the Demon ranks.

"Pick your targets carefully and watch each others backs. Don't get separated from the group, and stay near the portal; the more defenders we pull our way, the easier it will be for the second team." Viktor yelled out over the general noise that was being made.

"Will do Vik, one distraction coming up." Daniel responded in kind, whether or not the vampire heard him was another matter. Moments later, said vampire, now clutching the transformed William one hell of a roar and charged into the portal.

"Well, here goes nothing." He quietly said before entering the portal. On arrival, he could see Viktor taking cover behind a broken section of wall and taking out two demons in quick succession. Daniel quickly hurled a card at the shoulder of a nearby Demon who was still coughing from the smoke who looked be geared for a more medieval style of combat. Wincing from the pain, the Demon didn't have to wait long for it to be over as Daniel cut the arm clean off with a quick swing from his blade before relieving the hell-spawn of their head with Daniel gently pushing the body over with his boot soon after. Upon closer examination, one would see that the flesh surround the cut looked lightly seared, as if cut off through flame.

Another demon, one for whom wasn't so nearly as disorientated by the smoke launched a counter at Daniel by swinging at him with a longsword, narrowly missing the Angel by a fraction of an inch. The two traded blows for a couple of moments before Daniel knocked the blade from their hands, following up with a lethal stab to the chest.

"Burn in Heaven." Daniel said with a slight smirk to his face before taking to cover.

Sol crossed his arms as he waited for the signal to move. Personally, he would've planned the whole thing differently, the groups shouldn't be as divided up as they were, certainly not this unevenly. He also was really happy Elizabeth hadn't found out about the mission either. Well, the nature of it, anyhow. She had almost ended up going home to take care of the old man, but with a few strings pulled and some trustworthy associates on the phone, she could at least wait until Sol was done with this one. For not knowing the nature of it, she sure seemed to understand how serious this all was.

I hope Lenah's keeping her mind on other things, the two of them should be safe. And I hope the old man's well too. And Luke. I mean, if something happens to me... I hope they know I do care.

He couldn't help but feel that way. This wasn't something a mere human should do. Honestly, he should have backed out of it. His hand had been shaking when he had recited some prayers using his rosary, anxiously. He had done it back at the school, in Luke's bed, after the other had gone to pick up some food. He hadn't told him about either, just embraced him whenever he could, introduced him to Elizabeth. Kissed him, and told him he would probably be back in a day. Sol hadn't wanted to leave.

And yet, here he stood, next to Juliet. The two of them were going alone, a little after the others. He supposed they were going individually, for each stone?

"Good luck, Juliet," he told her, smiling. It probably wouldn't do well to say something with God in it. "Let's hope the others do a good job keeping them distracted." And then, he dove in, using the equipment to try to locate one of the stones. They had been told that there was likely just two, but to expect more. And so he did, navigating the area as silently as he could.

Juliet waited alongside Sol as the assault team proceeded ahead of them, hopefully they'd be able to bring this business to a close soon and be done with it. That said she would miss being at full strength when she had to go back to Gato, she'd barely even gotten to exert herself after all. We are up against demons though, might be an opportunity to better myself...

Of course there were many ways to gain strength as a demon but the quickest was to simply take your power from another demon; as Rozalin had done with Lucifer. Of course to gain power it had to be taken from someone with more than you which made the process rather difficult but it never hurt to keep oneself aware of openings.

"Good luck, Juliet,"

"Likewise," she said as he dove through the gate, waiting a moment before following after him. Between the distraction, her own abilities, and Sol's magic amulet she doubted they'd have much trouble sneaking around though even so she was careful to move as silently as possible, using her shapeshifting powers to become smaller to better hide.

Tomas charge with everyone else. Seeing the Demon guards coughing up their lungs due to the smoke. Slightly smirking as Tomas drive right into the nearest demon. Using his speed and his sharp claws to easily tear into his rough hide. Aiming at the neck area as he took a chunk out of it. Before picking him up and throwing the demon at a guard who recover quicker then the others. Getting under cover as he hide beside Viktor.

"Just let me know if any make it to close to this position. I'll deal with the melee if we they get that close." he said, doing one quick shake to get the demon blood off of his claws. Looking over at the wall to see the ones that Viktor just put down. "Nice shot by the way..."

Then

Mirabelle left the team meeting nervous. The fact that they had just learned that Lucifer was confirmed alive and that they had to go kill him tended to do that. Of course, they did have 5 days...which wasn't a lot of time to get things preped and ready for an assault but that's what she had to work with. So with that in kind, she began to plan out everything she could think of to even the playing field...

Now

She hoped she was ready. She had spent extensive time working on her concoctions, powders, and whatnot, pouring over everything she could get her hands on, mining her father's journal for information, and disecting the papers that she had previously hung from a wall for decoration. Hopefully the things that she had made would cover any situation that her strength couldn't overcome.

She carried most of this in a duffel bag she hung over her shoulder, with a backpack for the really dangerous stuff, carefully wrapped and protected so as to not cause premature chaos. Of course, she also wore a jacket with which she could store a few more vials of stuff, just in case the bags were taken from her. Finally, She muttered a small prayer to God, despite already having been in the prayer group, mostly for comfort at that point.

"Pick your targets carefully and watch each others backs. Don't get separated from the group, and stay near the portal; the more defenders we pull our way, the easier it will be for the second team."

"...Ok.", Mira said simply, wondering how close she absolutely needed to be to the group without raising the chances of hurting them by accident. Of course, all that went away when they charged through the portal, finding herself more concerned with the fighting and managing her stores of items.

With the demons temporarily disoriented by the smoke, she charged at one and neatly punched a hole in his rusting armor, letting the shrapnel tear into him, before grabbing his neck and twisting, breaking it. Next, she moved onto another demon, wresting it's sword away (along with the whole dang arm) and stabbing it in the neck with it. Of course, she could have tried to finish them with more bravado...but she preceded efficiency over that and besides, there would be plenty of time for that later. Besides, she found it easier to follow Viktor's instructions this way.

Watching Tomas tear through the demon in his way, Viktor gave him a nod of approval as he dropped into cover.

"Just let me know if any make it to close to this position. I'll deal with the melee if we they get that close. Nice shot by the way..."

?Just keep your wits about you a-? Viktor was cut off by an arrow grazing the top of his head; swearing in his mother tongue, he spotted the archer on the top of a larger wall some distance away, and put two shots through his chest. ?Like I was saying, keep your eye?s up and your head down?and don?t let them pin you in one spot.? He could feel blood from the cut on his head trickling down the back of his neck, and the wound itself burned like a cut made by a silver weapon; that gave him a pressing reminder to not just try and barge his way through a hand-to-hand fight.

Shifting position to take cover behind a broken pillar, he snapped shots at any demon he saw, trying to just keep them pinned down while the rest of the team came through. Movement near the portal caught his attention, and he watched with some fascination as the little automaton came rushing in. I wonder how sh?never mind? He thought as he watched her tear a couple of demons down while barely breaking stride.

Before this he?d wondered just how useful Mirabelle would be in a fight. Off mission she seemed to keep to herself mostly, working on her personal projects and rarely ?engaging? with the other members. He?d been afraid she was essentially a support troop who?d ended up in the field, but that little display coupled with the noxiously lethal stuff he?d caught wind of before they?d headed out seemed to put those fears to rest.

Assault Team

Karis was the last to come through, held up due to making doubly sure the back up promised really was just waiting on them to move having developed a minor trust issue with his 'employers' after his talk with Sierra a few days prior.

He wasted no time once through though, locking on to the first demon he saw, grabbed him, pumped him full of his own energy, effectively turning the demon into a bomb and tossed him over to where Viktor had a few pinned down, where the demon exploded, taking out at least one more and blasting the, formally ornate divider wall to bits before he found an old pillar to duck behind him self to get a better look at the situation.

Several, poorly equipped, guards still about, most with bows or cross bows. "Shall we let them know we're here and get the party started proper?" Karis said, take a pot shot at a guard who popped up with a blast of energy to the chest.

Stealth Team

Sol and Juliet would see 9 contacts on the device they where give to locate the Shield Stones after the initial 'sweep' from the devices sensors. A third sweep of the device would eliminate the decoys from the list of targets and leave them the genuine stones to go after, 3 in total, but something about one of the three seemed off, the device would lose and find it on occasion, and it was the only one that was acting weird, the other two where strong and stable signals.

Juliet however would notice a familiar, unpleasant feeling. Juri was near by, which also meant her master like wasn't far away ether.

"Shall we let them know we're here and get the party started proper?" Asked Karis after he had pumped a lot of energy into a demon he grabbed, turning them into a walking bomb; with which he proceeded to throw in the general direction of a few demons, killing them in the explosion.

"Can't see the harm in that." Daniel remarked, throwing the card in his hand that landed between the eyes of a demon who was launching arrows at them, taking them out in the blink of an eye. "It would be a shame to come all this way, and not have a bit of fun." He added, hurling a few more cards to keep the enemy at bay.

"Still, we mustn't be careless as we proceed, a single errant step may cost us."

He couldn?t help but let out a short bark of laughter as he saw the face of the demon that got thrown back to his companions.

"Shall we let them know we're here and get the party started proper?"

?Don?t let me stop you.? He replied. Leaning out from cover, he shot an archer square in the chest and saw the telltale flickering of a ward trying, and failing, to stop the shot. As the archer collapsed as so much more demon meat, Viktor looked at Karis and shook his head. ?I almost feel bad for these bastards; the conscripts Moscow fed to the Fascist?s guns were better equipped than this lot.? Grinning at the armoured mercenary, he stepped out from cover and winged a crossbowman that?d been taking aim at one of Daughtry?s team.

As the wounded demon cried out in agony, Viktor ducked back into cover; it was obvious to anyone that could see him, that he was enjoying himself. Rolling around the other side of the pillar he snapped off a few shots to keep the defenders heads down. ?The one with the rifle shoots!? He bellowed over the din, advancing as he did. ?The one without follows him! If the one with the rifle is killed, the one following picks up the rifle and shoots!?

As he advanced from cover to cover he snapped shots at ill equipped demons, and was more often than not, was rewarded with a hit. Finding himself a hundred meters from his initial position he stopped behind a head high wall. ?Is that the best you got!?? He taunted. ?I?ve seen children with more fight than you lot!?

Sol watched the device as it seemed to malfunction. It had removed most of the targets, what he had been told was simply false positives that the device had been made to weed out. However, now one of the remaining targets, stones, seemed to be appearing and disappearing.

A trap? The only real stone? Is it a way to fool us?

They had been told to expect at least two of them, so that didn't make sense either. It could simply be that there was something special about that stone, that it was different from the two others. However, it was impossible to tell whether it was even there, given the way the device seemed to change back and forth between it being there and not. He decided to go for the one closest to where he was, narrowly avoiding getting seen as he made his way towards the shield stone to destroy it.
