Fixed the title for you. The problems are not with the game, they are and always have been with the ridiculous DRM requirements that PC games are forced to employ.Catkid906 said:PC Gaming is... no more!!!

I guess not. I don't have time to research it right now. Care to inform me?apsham said:You don't really understand what's going on, do you?KeithA45 said:What could POSESS them to turn off the game? I mean, pull multiplayer if you must but shut down the entire freaking game? Why? It hurts everyone and serves no purpose!
Hint: there are two parties involved, Epic and Microsoft. Which do you think is to blame?KeithA45 said:I guess not. I don't have time to research it right now. Care to inform me?
You know, thinking about it, everyone blamed EA for the Spore DRM fiasco so I'm gonna go with Microsoft just to be slightly stupid.Optimystic said:Hint: there are two parties involved, Epic and Microsoft. The problem is with the Digital Certificate (a Vista requirement), not the DRM directly.Catkid906 said:You know, thinking about it, everyone blamed EA for the Spore DRM fiasco so I'm gonna go with Microsoft just to be slightly stupid.

ElArabDeMagnifico seems to have summed up my concern. What purpose does an expiration date, whenever timed, serve?ElArabDeMagnifico said:Yeah all you have to do is set your clock back but the question is "why is there an expiration date?" that has us all baffled.
Wait what, what? WHAT? You are serious?Azeban said:I didn't feel like spelling it out. But you did so for me. The damn stuttering was insufferable for some people. GoW is in my opinion a decent game. CliffyB decided to release it a year later, and not even bother to optimize it for the PC. It was a lazy port.-Seraph- said:Please explain to me how it was a bad port. I hear this all the time with certain games that are said to be bad ports but without any sort of real good argument. The ONLY problem I ever noticed with the PC version of GoW was this annoying freeze up in certain parts of the single player which were most likely load times. They were annoying stutters that reared their ugly heads when you were what I suspect to be load points but aside from that the game is fine. Controls are fine, visuals are fine, the whole game is FINE. If you don't like the PC controls that you use for EVERY OTHER shooter then plug in a damn game pad and play that way...jesus whatever happened to giving evidence to ones claims.Azeban said:That game was such a shitty port. A self-correcting problem.
I've played GTA 4 on the same machine. Since Rockstar at least FIXES their ports, GTA 4 runs WAYYYYY better on my machine than GoW.Abedeus said:Wait what, what? WHAT? I somehow had a shitty PC and could run Gears of War in pretty high settings (widescreen 16:10, Medium) and it looked awesome, FPS was high all the time. It was a bloody good port. You want a bad one? Try Saint's Row 2 or Bully. Want a shitty port? Go play GTA IV.
Also, I tried using a Logitech Dual Action controller, the same I used to play through Jade Empire, X-Men 2 and few other games. I couldn't get through first act on that crap... It's just worse on so many levels than a 5-button mouse.
At least Rockstar did fix it.Azeban said:I've played GTA 4 on the same machine.
