Well, first of all thank you very much for the warm welcome and the replies, some of example so far have made me laugh a little, the one of the discus thrower made me laugh I have to admit. But I was wondering as there are a fair few people who do both sport and game, well what do they use the gaming for?

For me I keep coming back to games firstly because I just genuinely enjoy it, but also as a kind of release from the stress that training for 30-36 hours a week can place on you both physically and mentally. I tend to use games to unwind, keeping my imagination active with all the bad-assery and monster slaying.

Yes, kind of. I'm a reasonably good archer (competed for the university a couple of times), I play a fair few sports (not necessarily very well, but I try), and I go to the gym fairly regularly.

I'm not good at any "important" sports, but I am good at weird sports like badminton.
This! First post ninja'd! Kudos to you, Sir, even if it's only for the badminton part!

Not an athlete, but was genuinely good at football and cricket when I was at school. At university I did a bit of power-lifting, and still train 3/4 times a week. I don't however do as much cardio as I should...

I row far too much for school ¬_¬ and won a silver medal at the London Youth Games recently.

Also part of a sailing team as part of work. Ahh, and running 2.5 miles from work to home most days of the week.

Uh, if we were athletes, we'd be getting more respect than war heroes, altruists and civil servants combined... just like the rest of the athletes.
Good show ole boy!

My body type unfortunately lends itself to American Football, Rugby, and Sumo, but I also enjoy competitive Ice Hockey, small group basketball, hell any kind of hockey, martial arts, etc.

No
I have a phobia of social places so I avoid the gym, I also hate sports, and am too lazy to work out at home. But I stay skinny by watching what I eat.

I only really do school sport sessions, but they're fine. I never choose easy sports either.

Yeah, I'm pretty athletic. I ride my bike 4 times a week (~25km each time), and do push ups and sit ups at home. 'course, my damn disdain of social situations still affirms the "geek" image

I'm very athletic. Just about any gym-class game I can think of, I've excelled at.

I used to be the fastest runner in my old school, am I've been the fastest runner on my soccer team for the past 5 years. I have great reflexes and good timing skills.

I do lots of sports , but since the day I got first place in the national Israeli sports competition for sprinting 100 meters , I lost interest because it was too easy. (Not saying that i ROCK! I am saying that they SUCK!)

I do ride horses , if you count that as a professional sport.
