We did of course consider the addition of new jobs, abilities, and characters - including the jobs featured in War of the Lions. However, the original version of FINAL FANTASY TACTICS is a very complete game both from a game design and story perspective. If we were to make major changes, it would only be a loss for not only fans of the original game, but also those new to the title.

With this in mind, our first step in reviving FINAL FANTASY TACTICS in the present was to adhere to the original and put a spotlight on the original game’s characters and jobs, as well as the original gameplay experience.

The development team were passionate when it came to bringing an experience as close to the original as we could, and as a result we have recreated and used the original VFX and SFX - something I hope fans of the original in particular will enjoy as they play.
Well, there goes my plan to make Ramza a Dark Knight. Oh well, Maybe I can have him as Samurai or Lancer

Was War of Lions part of the original game?
Wotl was the mobile release of FFT, which added several new contents.

There is a long list, but here is the simplified quick and important additions:
  • A Multiplayer system with two game modes where you and a friend can play unique co-op missions.
  • Fully animated movies with voices and subtitles now replace some specific key story cut scenes
  • Additional story battles, side quests, and events are added.
  • Two new jobs/classes are added: Onion Knight and Dark Knight.
  • Two new playable characters: Luso from Final Fantasy Tactics A2 and Balthier from Final Fantasy XII.
  • Roster size is increased from 16 to 24. (Edit: upcoming remaster roster size is 50)
  • New items are available, mostly obtained through Multiplayer.
  • Delita is briefly playable in two battles.

NGL, some of these features I am completely fine w/o, like the multiplayer stuff. But the loss of the wotl jobs and characters does kinda suck.

Maybe someone will create a mod for it, maybe the devs will add them post-launch, but I am just happy to be able to play this on modern machines without the usages of emulators or the mobile version.

WOTL wasn't too bad, but I felt the UI was weird to navigate on my phone, and it also drained the battery super fast, given how long each battle lasted.

Creative Business Unit 3 seems like a lazy studio the more I think about it. Even FF14 has gotten quite lazy about content. I think they just treated Tactics like a quick port and paint job kind of release and didn't bother trying to go above and beyond just the basic game.

They need to delay it into the nearest dumpster, because everything about it looks bad from the ground up except for the parts they stole.

I mean, sure, but there's also the updated version included, which I'm pretty sure has the original WOTL FMV cutscenes and supposedly will add its own original content; it's not impossible that it might have the WOTL extra jobs and units too, I reckon. Though I agree with @FakeSympathy that I can live without that stuff.

Anyway, 'original graphics and gameplay with WOTL script' already had me sold. (Maybe I just have no standards; I play Genshin Impact still, so I can't deny the possibility.)

Got a bunch of Borderlands 4 news:

First: The good ( I guess?) news is that BL4 won't be $80, but 70. The bad news is that there will be $150 GAMELESS edition

Not the first time we've seen this kinda crap. And there must be a market for brain-dead shills since these game-less editions keep coming back.

Next: The PC system requirement also has been revealed, and holy shit, are they trying to build a super AI?

Recommend:
  • Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
  • OS: Windows 10 / Windows 11
  • Processor: Intel Core i7-12700 / AMD Ryzen 7 5800X
  • Memory: 32 GB RAM
  • Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 / AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT
  • Storage: 100 GB available space
  • Additional Notes: Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system. Requires 8+ CPU Cores for processor. Requires 12+ GB VRAM for graphics. SSD storage required
Minimum:
  • Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
  • OS: Windows 10 / Windows 11
  • Processor: Intel Core i7-9700 / AMD Ryzen 7 2700X
  • Memory: 16 GB RAM
  • Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 / AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT
  • Storage: 100 GB available space
  • Additional Notes: Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system. Requires 8 CPU Cores for processor. Requires 8 GB VRAM for graphics. SSD storage required

And finally, we got some hands-on impression on the game. For the most part everyone seems to love it, saying it's the usual BL gameplay that people came to love.....
But that's exactly why I am skeptical of the game. What exactly does it do differently compared to past games to call for $70 and those ridiculous PC specs?

Like, yeah it looks fun enough, but I could easily go back to BL2 or even BL3, with the same cellular graphics and honestly same chaotic shooter gameplay.

Checked article. Ctrl-F'd for Unreal 5. And sure as day, there it was.

There once was a time when pc-centric developers would make games with features that only the most high-end hardware of the time could handle, if it could handle it at all. Crysis being the obvious example, tho the original Unreal was too.

Seems Epic got a little nostalgic and decided their foundational engine should reflect this sentiment once more.
