I love video games. But there are just some genres that I cant fucking stand to play for even one second. JRPG and RTS. For the longest time I thought that I hated all RPGs, then I played some Western ones and then I realized that I hate Japan's RPGs. I hate every last Final Fantasy. I just find RTS to be boring and dull. I don't want to be giving orders and watching the ants get slaughtered, I want to be on the front lines kicking some ass. What gaming genres do you absolutely hate?

I hate Genre ationex. Always so sullen about everything. And they're not getting any younger, you know!

I don't really "hate" any genre, although I'm tired of FPS's. I don't appreciate the market shoving twenty shooters a year down my throat.

I hate fighting, racing and console FPS games. Too much skill required while playing with other people; never any fun because I get annihilated.

I don't "hate" any, I just wish companies would start expanding their ideas and leave their safe-zone.

You should check out the Star Ocean series. It's all the fun of a JRPG, but you control your characters the whole time; make 'em run around, choose when they attack and what attacks they do, etc.

OT: I hate sports games. I don't like sports in general, so I guess it's only natural.

You are awesome.

I don't "hate" any genre. There are some I don't enjoy playing as much (MMOs come to mind), but if I don't like it, I don't play it. There's a game for everyone out there, y'know?

RTS - real time takes the strategy out of it, particularly given the way time is accelerated. I'll take a TBS any day.

Sports games - they're pointless, play the real thing.

Casual sports games - doubly pointless, there isn't even the fantasy football/hockey/etc league aspect to them.

(Golf gets excluded since it's bloody expensive, so it's not like it's something you can play on the weekend with friends).

Wrestling games - I dislike watching pro wrestling, so this isn't surprising.

"Realistic" first person shooters - give me gonzo

Fighting games. I'm terrible at them. Memorizing a series of button combinations isn't my idea of a good time.

Basically sports and cars. I can play an extremely nonrealistic arcade version of them but that's about it.

Generic war FPS, especially World War II themed shooters.

Racing games other than burnout. I just don't find them to be very exciting.

JRPGs. Maybe I've just been exposed to the wrong ones, but I can never get into them.

Good advice here.

Lastly, while I actually like some sports games, I never end up buying them when plenty of my friends have the newest copy of madden or whatever and I can just pop by their dorm and play it whenever.

That's incredibly flawed logic. You could say that about ANY game. Like FPS games? Join the Army. Like JRPGs? Move to fucking Japan, buy some bright colored clothes, and get a stupid haircut. Like flight sims? Buy a plane. Get my point?

Oh, and maybe I don't have 21 friends to play a game of football with.

The only genre I really don't ever play is...well, nothing. I won't play a FPS on console very often, but I play them a good bit on PC. I haven't played a RTS in a couple of years, but I'm not against it. I even like JRPGs and sports games. Hell, I HATE real-life baseball and love some of the games.

Sports and Racing. And anything that can be considered "shovelware" (not really a genre, but might as well be one)

I enjoy anything else (or at least some games in the other genres)
