The kid stole the gun from his parents. They had like 16 of them (legally), one is missing. But it's true, I'm wondering where the others got theirs (yeah, there were others in Germany).

They mentioned it, besides most manic depressed people don't leave the house and just get more and more depressed till they snap. If they mention it that does not = blaming it. post the article. I don't think it was the video game I think it was just the kids pastime, but it may have showed that he was depressed, but it does not show the extent of how much he was depressed.

Wait doesn't Germany have full gun registration? I thought school shootings were because of America and the damned 2nd amendment?
Yes, we have rather strict and tight gun laws. We already had those before the first school massacre in Erfurt seven years ago, yet they still found ways to improve upon them.

This case has little to do with gun law though.
And even less with any discussion about the 2nd amendment.

The boy didn't own a weapon, nor did he manage to purchase one.
His father, who is part of a gun club (It's a traditional thing in many smaller villages) owns a plethora of weapons (there's been some rumours that a couple of these might have been owned illegally, but nothing concrete has been stated and it's probably just a rumour) and had them simply lying around for the picking. News also state that he used to take his son to the shooting range.
The boy also had shown much interest in those softair guns before, which might explain his proficiency further, and, prior to the massacre he had been in psychatric care due to his depressions, yet aborted his treatment.

In any case, people are looking for someone to blame, albeit most people I've talked to and that were interviewed for the news (I mostly just listen to the radio and read some newspapers, though. Dunno about TV) do not blame video games, despite the mentions of counterstrike. They already gave up on blaming video games back when the first german school massacre came around.
Instead we got parents blaming the teachers and the teachers blaming the parents. They also interviewed a bus driver, who blames both the parents and the teachers. Can't really blame the dead idiot who thought it was a good idea to shoot people just because some girls didn't like him and noone appreciated his genius.

I guess another victim is, as always, the personal responsibility of everyone, because not having any is way too comfortable.

That's stupid, once again Fox likes to reel out lies. Making assumptions about violent games in order to make a story. It's sad.

Here it goes again... Blame the videogames... Funny thing though, I read somewhere that the shooters mate said that "he[the shooter] tried counterstrike, but didn't like it very much".

Of course, leave it to Fox to bring video games into this. I had dared to hope that no one would try to blame video games, but, thanks to Fox, I was wrong. It's obvious bullshit, and as long as no one's believing them it's okay. But they're basically spreading slander about videogames for absolutely no reason.

Didnt you know that Counter-Strike was a murder simulator designed to get people to go on school shootings? /sarcasm
Fox-news-man here! That looks like a valid source to me! I'll use my superpowers of misinformation!!!

GAMES KILLING KIDS!

Today, one source within the video game 'community' admitted to Fox-news-man that "Didnt you know that Counter-Strike was a murder simulator designed to get people to go on school shootings?...". DEAR GOD READERS, FIND THE NEAREST VIDEO GAME STORE AND CLEANSE IT WITH FLAMES!
I thought Fox-NewS-Man, like Glen-Beck-Man, drew his power from raw conservitism.....
Ah, common misconception, OH-YEAH, Fox-News-man works to see a world of pure conservatism in the world, but he's powered by mis-information*, OH-YEAH!

(* and the fact he's a result of a cloning experiment of Duff-man. OH-YEAH!)

i saw this on the news, they never mentioned video games, just that he was a loner
some psychologist went on about how since he was a loner he had "created his own fantasy"
still, he took 15 people with him, thats one way to be remembered

Welcome to "THE MEDIA"! One thing that you probably figured out by now is "The Media" will do anything to get MONEY! Since bad news sells better then anything, and bad news doesn't happen as much as "The Media" would like,so they make some/or make an existing problem seem worse! By simply adding something or twisting the story, they can make any story meet their needs.
(This is my opinion on this subject, if you don't agree with me fine, your allowed to have your own opinion).

Oh Fox news you silly, silly people.

My friend showed me this article in which Fox news reported,

"A 17-year-old who would give only his first name, Aki, said he had been studying this year with the shooter at a private business school, and described him as a quiet, reserved person.

Aki said the two played poker together, both in person and online, as well as a multiplayer video game called "Counter-Strike" that involves killing people to complete missions. "He was good," Aki said."

I've searched over 10 other sites and none actually reported anything to do with video games in there.
I love how they slide these snide hints in there. All I have to say is really Fox, really?
GOD what bullshit.

Over eight million copies of the damn game sold - why don't the assholes wait for a few more players to start shooting people before they blame the entire industry.

Idiots.
