So what I've got out of this, is that from this moment on, no one with any connection to Cyberdyne Inc [http://www.cyberdyne.jp/english/] (makers of the HAL robotic exoskeleton) should ever be allowed within German borders.
At least the company has some sense of humor. HAL and cyberdyne is not the words one usually wants connected to robotics.

Cow or no cow: this idea is awesome. It'd also legitemately burn down half my garden, but that's beside the point.

I WANT ONE.

I don't think I ever said I was from Hannover. I just mentioned the spelling mistake and wondered how many germans are on the escapist, so the "too" is technically wrong.

I do, they are everywhere. I`m sure there`s one in my closet and a few others hide under the bed. I tried the vacuum cleaner but it didn´t work.

No, no ... You're doing it wrong. Gotta do it like they did ... Ya know, gas chamber and all that shizzle ;)

Chill out dude. You get called Nazis and I get a whole section [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/index/528-Religion-and-Politics] of this site that seems to be dedicated to Europeans telling me how my government is "doing it wrong".
Yup, 'cause that's equivalent.
See, your government is doing it so wrong, that your entire nation consists of totalitarian, murderous ideologues. And you are one of them.

"I realize it gets old but you can't let it get to you."

There's a big difference between saying "it's annoying me a lot" and "letting it get to you". If I were "letting it get to me", would I still be around on pages like YouTube?
But why does "not letting it get to you" have to mean I have to just shut up and take it? It annoys me and I'm going to say so.
And in case you didn't understand what I was saying, I wasn't just talking about the internet. I was talking about real life interactions as well, which annoy me a whole bunch more than some random internet trolls.

Yeah, could've phrased that a little different: Not only am I from Germany, but even from that awesome place where they make laser death rays.

So, basically ... You can't make fun of yourself and your country ... Which I'd boldly call "patriotism" at this point ... Which helps against the "accusation" as a nazi ... how?

Sigh. Somehow I doubt you're aware of any of the actual context of the discussion I was having with Helmholtz.
I'm perfectly fine with making fun ony myself and my country. I'm not fine with repeatedly being called a Nazi merely for being born in Germany; and not in a fun or ridiculing way. If you can't see how that's a completely different thing entirely, I can't help you.
To the above point: I also made the differentiation between a joke like this one and other situations, like the YouTube situation I mentioned or the actual real life encounters, the last of which are obviously the most important. Perhaps you shouldn't simply jump in like that.

I am very well aware of your conversation, or rather the statement you pulled to begin with. While I agree that the common comment on the internet is made by a brainwashed young twat believing in what he's saying there - and god, I know a bunch of people like that in real life - but quite matter-of-factly there is nothing wrong anywhere in this article and the corresponding thread. Thus, I'm led to believe that you became overly sensitive when it comes to the mere mention of Germany + Nazis.
Hence why I don't really see why it was necessary to a) pull this whole argument here in the first place b) be unable to simply deal with it. As I've said before: The fact that Germans tend to react in the manner they do isn't supportive against the accusation as a nazi at all. And, again: There is absolutely no need whatsoever to get annoyed by anything that's both predictable and in good fun. It's one thing to crack down on a kid conditioned to yell "Nazi" at the trigger of a mention of "German" ... but it's another to start an argument about how the internet is constantly oh-so-mean towards Germans, constantly calling them nazis and constantly denouncing them for their history ... when there was absolutely nothing indicating that at all in the current situation.

To sum it up, as I've said before: Stop being overly sensitive. It's unhealthy, doesn't add anything to an argument and puts you in a worse position than before.

I love my country's ingenuity. When we're not developing mind-controlled vehicle steering or transforming cars, we invent useful stuff that makes other countries sweat bullets.
I wonder what else the laser could be programmed to 'weed out'. :p

Clearly, since you seem to think I was offended by this article or this thread, you are not aware of the context.

If you were aware of the context, why are you only applying what I said to this thread and this article? From the very start, I made it very clear that I was not talking about this thread or this article when I complained about being called a Nazi and that I recognize the article as a joke.

There is absolutely no need whatsoever to get annoyed by anything that's both predictable and in good fun.
The things I complained about were not in good fun. Again, be aware of the context. Don't just assume this was about this article when it wasn't. See below.

To sum it up, as I've said before: Stop being overly sensitive. It's unhealthy, doesn't add anything to an argument and puts you in a worse position than before.
And let me reiterate that you should be aware of the context. Let me spell it out for you:

In the post that Helmholtz was responding to, I complained about a) YouTube and b) real life encounters in Great Britain and the USA and put them in comparison to my positive experiences in New Zealand.

This thread and this article only came up in the initial few sentences, where I said the following: "The way it was presented, it was just a joke, but it's not like such views are particularly well differentiated."

That was it. That was all the connection to this thread and this article. I hope you now realize that I was not taking this article or thread as particularly hurtful or was acting overly sensitive. I was complaining about an issue I've encountered in other venues. This thread and article (and specifically what Kuratius said) were merely a trigger that allowed me to talk about these other issues.

Wow, what a pointless discussion.

I'm just saying that everybody has some kind of bullshit to deal with and that that its best if you don't let it get to you.

Again everybody has to deal with bullshit. I know a number of Americans that hide their nationality when they go to Europe, because when they went to Germany and France in the past, people gave them shit for having Bush as a president, because you know...it's logical to scream at 17 year olds about a president they didn't elect.

And I'd agree with you, but I obviously don't agree with you on how to deal with it.

Sure, and I'd say those kids should speak out also, not shut up and take it or hide their nationality. Tell those idiots what they think of Bush or why, if they do, they agree with him. Or why these people attacking them are full of shit. Whatever.
Why not speak out for yourself and tell the schmucks when you're annoyed with their bull? Why consider it sensible to hide? How is there ever any change in opinions and stereotypes if nobody challenges things?

...what? I'm not a politician or a murder.
Whelp, I'm going to call you one regardless. Doesn't matter what you are or aren't, deal with it. *shrug*
See how dumb that sounds?

Probably because they were in Germany at the time, and they were afraid that other people might gang up on them.

Hm... while I don't think anything like that would've happened, it's a more than understandable reaction.

Glad to hear it.

Very good! I don't take any particular pride in my nationality, but it would certainly be neat enough to come from the place that invented plant-killing lasers.

Ah, meine deutschen Freunde, so wurde die nächste Phase unseres Masterplans also erfüllt...
[small]Hehehe...[/small]

Translation: "I am very glad we can be helpful to the world and will definitely not use this laser for any evil means."
That definitely was the right translation.
Yup.
Definitely.
Trust me.
