That's why you should dig up, but not STRAIGHT up, ie dig a staircase. Then it will at least be relatively easy to cut off the water or lava, so long as you're quick enough.Kalezian said:LIES!spartan1077 said:Always, and I mean always, make landmarks! Right beside my spawn, I have signs telling me where things are. As I follow those signs, I have landmarks that I will remember mean, "Oh, mine this way." or "Oh, my town this way". Just make your mark on the land and you will never get lost again! Above ground. Underground is a different story. When in doubt, dig up.
digging up is a sure way to flood your tunnel with water or lava!
sometimes you can get BOTH.
AT THE SAME TIME.
Don't forget a stack of unprocessed wood, just in case you run out of sticks for torches and/or pickaxes.MintyNinja said:I bring a pre-made workbench, stove, and chest with me when exploring. You never know when you'll need to hunker down for a bit and make an outpost. A favorite thing to do is make super awesome diamond gear, put it in a chest and bury the chest somewhere random. I'm a twisted soul.

I have no idea how during my travels across the internet I've never seen that.ClassicJokester said:I don't wanna brag, I don't wanna boast... Which is why I use tunnels in the nether to connect all of my main landmarks, which I usually build far away from each other.I Max95 said:my solution is simple
i travel underground, i have several houses but they are all connected by a set of underground tunnels begining at my giant tower that can be seen from miles away with tons of burning netherack around it as a beacon
i find my way back to I-max Tower, i can get anywhere
i imagine it took a while to dig all those tunnels though so this method isnt recommended for everyone
just use a converter instead of the fail google this guy sent you. also the euro is pretty low now so now is the time to buy games. ^^ClassicJokester said:I don't wanna brag, I don't wanna boast... That's quite impressive, you should use cartograph to take a few pics to show off. It can show you the level from the top, oblique, night, day and even the cave systems.
