mmkay, hey bethesda, this ain't fable.
I mean I could see how some people might enjoy a marriage/dating sim that incorporates the other aspects of gameplay, but fable has done the exact same thing.
Granted the NPC's in Skyrim all have names and are important to a degree, but my point still stands.
Not saying it's a bad idea, looking forward to see how they implement it, hoping they don't just do the whole "strum a lute a couple times and get married" route.

By "if you own a house" do they mean I will actually buy a house? I always liked killing everyone in a house I liked then calling it "My House".

is it just me or am i the only one who thinks Dragon slaying chosen ones don't sound like the marrying type ? . .
I don't know. Have you ever met a dragon slayer?

It's optional, and it can be fun if done right. And when I say done right I mean building up a relationship like in Dragon Age Origins. You should be able to establish an emotional bond with companions.

I'm torn on the homosexuality thing.

On one hand, I'd really love the option.

On the other, every gay game character I've ever seen has either been a handbasket of stereotypes or angsty beyond belief. It's always been handled in a very hamfisted way, probably because the gay characters are always written by straight men, or WORSE, women.

Well here's the thing, I managed to find a copy of Oblivion on the PS3 for $15 at a pawn shop. It runs fine and everything. But the thing is, I could not make a character that could even charitably be called okay to look at.

I even attempted to make a female, just to see if the game would be kinder to the 'fairer sex', and no, still looks like a child took crayons to a half-inflated balloon. I'm not saying everyone in Skyrim has to be pretty, in fact I'm not even sure if I want it, Oblivion came across as a bit... obtuse to me, but I've seen worse in terms of interface.

But what I'm saying is, if I decide to get it, it would be very nice if it was possible to not only make an attractive character, but also be able to marry an attractive young lass. But thats just skin deep, she also have to have a semblance of personality. Even if it's a dislikable one, if I can be convinced she's human, sold, until further notice.

I thin it will be nice for roleplaying purposes. You're no longer forced to play as a eunuck!
(And I say that in the most offensive way as possible)

You know...this sounds okay actually. As long as they bring some character depth with it then I'm on board and so long as it's not just having a random NPC now sleeping in your bed...yeah okay.

If they force you to do it or it's like DA2 (where saying hello means I love you sometimes) then not cool but otherwise...eh, not too bothered, could be kinda useful (accomplice for thefts? Oh hells yes)

Sure. I found myself attached to some of the NPCs for some reason. Despite lack of depth.

I would totally have married Antoinetta Marie if I could have.

I swear i'm the only one who's optimistic about them actually using more voice actors + this. Means they're trying to make NPC's likable again.
I hadn't heard that bit of news. But it certainly is something to be happy about. Anyone who played Oblivion for at least two hours knows how ridiculously few voice actors they used (I hated the voice actor for male Orcs). I just hope Bethesda actually gives some of them some charisma for once.

As for marriage...eh, go ahead. If it excites some people, why not go with it. I don't see me being that interested in it, though.

Marriage is a bad idea in real life, why would fictional be any different?
I'll do it, just to vent my frustrations by setting the house on fire afterwards, with her in it.

Take that psychological manifestation of my greedy, selfish, delusional ex-girlfriend! I hate your parents!

Lol! Gay people didn't exist in the past. Read Greek and Roman history and you'll see. /sarcasm

If I'm not mistaken, wasn't there an NPC in Morrowind that you pretty much married after doing all her quests? Still, I'm quite happy with this in the game! I also don't know how I'm going to decide between an Argonian and Khajiit...

World Exclusive! Dovahkiin speaks out!

In a recent interview, Skyrim saviour the Dovahkiin himself, revealed his reasons for undertaking the many perilous quests that lead to his eventual success. Many had believed the stout warrior was guided by destiny. Loyalty to his country and the late Emperor were also common theories. Some few even believed he had done it for fame or gold. But the Black Horse Courier has learned the truth from the noble warrior himself: "I had to do something" he said, "to get out of the house."

- Ra'jiradh, Urjabhi and Hassiri.
And now you got me wondering: How will DIVORCES work in Skyrim?
With a battleaxe.

Hey this will be....sorta neat...

The people in Fable were annoying so I married like 3-4 in boredom...

Now I can have a wife in my megamansion I scrapped enough gold to buy from some jerk....Although the one lady from Rosethorn Hall was kinda nice...and the NPCs that lived in Battlethorn (the DLC home) were all.....amusing...nothing like having your own small army and such

One question pops up in my head

"Why would you?"

Okay I know it's a ROLEPLAYING Game. (and yes I say that with a straightface, as it offers all the possibilities to do so. Wich I happily make use of.)

The same option was in Fable I - III but what did it actually add?
Not so much really, or that is my opinion.
It's a genuine question, why would we get married?

To speak with a greedy persons voice: "What's in it for us?"
Marriage can be a good option however, what are the results & effects?
Social status? Dowries? 'Special' dialoge options (a la fable censorship?) or what?
