Its not bad that u have to pay but it shouldn't be that much seeing that Microsoft is so rich.

Well you get what you pay for. It's £40 a year in the UK which I'm pretty sure is more than $50 even with the poor exchange rate at the moment so consider yourself lucky. Microsoft is a business and as such they are trying to make as much money as possible. You can't really blame them for that.

You get what you pay for. The only bad thing about the entire 360 is "The Red Ring Of Death" and some other malfunctions.

50$ is a small price to pay for a year of fun. FUN. Not fake fun like PS network or Nintendo WIFI.
I have a blast on the Nintendo Wifi with Super Smash Bros Brawl.
Really? Are you playing with people via Friend Codes, or do you play with randoms? I tend to get no end of lag when I play with random people online, and it's still unpleasant to play with my friends. Mario Kart Wii, on the other hand, is an amazing game and only lacks voice communication.
Random wifi
While Mariokart has a great online service, you need to think about SSBB. It's a fighting game with lots of stuff going on, Moving backgrounds, 4 players, items like pokeballs, assist trophies. While Nintendo should have remember that, I bet they were thinking "most brawl players are tourney tards anyway". I'm not mind you.

See...we freebies can still have a blast (Though I do own an Xbox 360, my primary console is the Wii)

Considering how much better the Xbox LIVE service is compared to PSN or the Wii's online service, I really don't mind paying for it. I use all three but LIVE has proven to be far, far superior in my experience. $50 for a year of quality online gaming service? Sign me up.

It costs £40 here in Britain, but I still think it is worth it. I mean I have just got the RROD and I have bought a new ELITE to replace it... which is coming tomorrow, so I am going to have been without my 360 for 2 days and I am bored out of my mind!

I came to the 360 unsure if i would even use xbox live. I had a ps2 before and bought the connector to get it online but i never hooked it up. When i got the 360 i thought i probably wouldnt use it. After the one month trial i was hooked and bought a year of Live and am a huge fan. As for the price i feel that i got a deal because i got one year of live a chatpad, a headset and project gotham racing 4 for $79.99. It's called the 12 month messenger gold pack and it's the best deal out there even if you don't like the game. (which i didnt even play)

I'm willing to pay for Live. The connections are pretty reliable and, on the whole, it all works nicely. I just wish there was greater control over getting all the racist douches banned... but I guess that's a general problem online, regardless of format.

So my Xbox live gold membership recently ran out, and I am sitting here staring at amazon.com and wondering why im about to pay 50 bucks for another year of online gaming, sony got it right, god even nintendo got it right, but the cash cow that is microsoft is just unwilling to get its gold soaked hands off the piggy bank! anyone agree?
No I don't agree. Nintendo didn't do it right, and no matter how much you hate them, they'll be laughing all the way to the bank. This is something people will pay 50 bucks a year for. If you have a job that's less than half your weekly pay. Stop complaining, the PS3 and Nintendo services suck and Microsoft is figuring that if its good enough to warrant a small some of money from each player, they ain't making it free.

MS are smart, as long as they charge for Online and you keep paying for it, of course they are going to continue to charge you, one of the many reasons I own a PS3.
