I hate getting my hair cut.

I don't ever know what to do with it and when they ask me what I want to do, I just stare blankly at them like a five year old and say "I want the same haircut but shorter". Wow tippy2k2, that's useful info...idiot

Oh god, this so much.

I've had a 3 foot ponytail/braid for the past 15 years and only recently got it cut off due to maintenance issues and not wanting to look like an anti-social 10 year old. Now I just don't know what to tell the barber.

"So what are we doing today?"
"Uh... I guess... Same as last time?"
"I don't remember what that was"
"Just do... like... a haircut... like for a normal person... where you take the scissors and make all the little hairs shorter"

I have all these wonderful ideas for how I want my hair to look, but the only person in my town is a barber, not a hairdresser so I really don't know what to ask for. It also doesn't help that I don't know any of the technical names of any of the styles.

About 3" hair is my favorite (on myself), still easy to manage while having enough there to do something with.
Recently got a haircut, asked for 1" all over, dude went overboard, got about 1cm left, gonna be over a month before it looks even close to normal QQ

I started a few of years ago in highschool and now have hair probably a third again longer than you in that photo. I don't like getting haircuts because 1. I'm a retard and can't talk to hairdressers, with the result that if they're doing something I don't like I don't correct them, and 2. It costs money. But the main factor at this point is how long it would take to grow all this hair again if I wanted it back. It's a considerable investment, and the longer it gets the more invested I am.

I'm probably in the minority in realm of female that actual hates getting a hair cut.

Well, 'hate' is a strong word, but I'm not a fan of sitting there while someone cuts my hair. I don't do anything fancy with it and I keep it kinda long, which is about shoulder length and somewhere past it. I only go about twice a year when I feel like it's too damn long and it's driving me crazy.

Which is about now since it's way longer than I normally have it and I've been lazy about doing it. About several months lazy about it. >.>

I mainly hate getting my haircut because I hate going out in public in general. You have to sit and wait your turn, you tell some person what you want, and then you sit there while they try to make small talk. I hate small talk. I appreciate you want to make me comfortable, but I'd rather we just both stay silent, and get this over with.

This. I actually just bought a professional hair buzzer so I can just do the deed myself.

I can't be bothered with haircuts. I tend to have a few inches off every so often, but even that is increasingly rare these days. That said my hair is reaching a length that is becoming cumbersome. It is currently about half way down my back, which means it gets in the way on the back of chairs, coats, backpacks etc.

Also, as a male individual with long hair, I seem to garner quite a lot of verbal abuse from strangers including such remarks as "He looks like a fucking girl." (spoken to his friend, deliberately loud enough for me to hear as I passed them), "Are you a girl or a boy?" (drive-by derision from two girls riding bikes), and "Get a fucking haircut." (common among those in cars driving past or stopped at a pedestrian crossing I'm using, for some reason). Rather than encouraging me to conform to these intolerant people's standards, it only induces the urge to cause physical damage to them or their property. I will never understand the reasoning behind insulting a complete stranger, unprovoked. The insults themselves are weak, but the intent to insult is upsetting.

I may have gone on something of a tangent there...

For some reason people like to fuck with other people walking/bike riding on the side of the road.

I can't tell you how many times I've had verbal abuse and objects hurled at me (even fire crackers) for riding my bike late at night.

I have long hair, I wear mostly all black, I'm rather on the chubby side, according to society I'm basically just asking to have things thrown at me from high school kids in their car. Graduating high school certainly never did me any favors, as I still get bullied by the teenagers anyway.

Thankfully I generally manage to avoid getting things thrown at me, possibly because I really only leave the house to go to work, so there isn't much exposure to potential throwers. That said I now recall once having curry powder or some kind of spice thrown at me as I was walking through a park with my family once. People are terrible... :/

I just grab some clippers and shave my head once every 3-4 months or so. I had hair down to my elbows at one point. But you have to cut away the teenage angst at some point.

I concur, this is exactly how I cut my hair. It's an immediate change that can bring something new to your day and still saves money and time.

I too had long hair until the dreaded male pattern baldness arose and the long hair just made it stand out like a ... well ... bald spot. The look I'm going for now is Private Pyle, from Full Metal Jacket, but if he hadn't offed himself and lived into his 30's.

Eh... I never bothered me at all... I can pull off the full shaven head look from my previous years and the present look I have now... (Still can't grow a pony tail like I used to, though...)

Even though it still sucks my original barber moved away some time ago (before fully wanting to grow out my hair out into an Afro), he passed on his techniques to my mother so I technically have more than one reason to visit my mother at least once a month or two these days...

I hate getting my haircut because it's either a cheap haircut that looks the same no matter what I ask for or spending a ton for a good salon. I cut my hair for the first time in eight years last summer and I love having it short. Which was a birthday gift and there's no way I'm paying that much so it's growing out again.

One thing I've always wondered about hair, why do guys grow their hair out long and don't take care of it? It's either a frizzy mess of dead ends or soaked with oil. They really should take care of their hair do it doesn't look like a lack of hygiene rather than a fashion statement.

I usually disliked getting my hair cut, I've had a few bad experiences with them in the past. I usually get a buzz cut which is pretty straight forward, until you get stabbed in the ear multiple times. So now I do it myself or I let my dad do it. Better than going to those places again that's for sure XD

All my childhood my parents made me have short hair, so as soon as I could I let it grow down to my lower back. It was actually a really god idea, since growing it thinned it out and made it more manageable.

It got in the way a bit, mainly when I was drawing or during sex, and long hair + summer is horrible. I eventually got it all cut off and now it's about shoulder length.

I used to HATE HATE HATE going to the hairdressers, because they always fucked up my haircut one way or another, or blow dried my hair which made it a massive frizzball. Or they talked too much. I hate it when hairdressers MUST have a conversation with you.

I love my current hairdresser though. She doesn't talk much, knows my hair and what I like, and is a wonderful person.

Urgh, I second that. I had purple hair for a bit and it lasted 3 weeks at most. I don't have the money or willpower to put up with dyed hair, haha

That blue looks beautiful though.
