Me and my roommate tried that with his wife, seeing as she's into gardening and wanted to get into games.

It started with us sitting behind her, pointing out what she had to do to mate the worms...
Then, we'd just take the controller "to show her what we meant"...
Then, before we knew it, she was kicked outside and we were playing it, yelling at each other about the best place to build a pond.

That game's goddamn insidious. It gets in your head, and it stays there!

OT - I never met a girl that didn't like Diablo. You could try Torchlight? There's probably a mod to make it Co-op. For consoles, Halo and including her in the GTA chase time attack has always worked well (everyone takes it in turns to buzz a cop car and start a chase, the timer starts from the first time you hit 4 stars until you get busted/wasted, Pay 'N' Spray is banned - there is not a single person who hates this way of playing)

lfd 2 is full of girl gamers if you want to find a game they like, you need to get a 360 though pc version is not as good for a couch buddy game.

How about Lego Star Wars or Batman? Good drop-in drop-out co-op and they're just good clean fun.

It could really be anything. Girls can like a huge variety of games. My personal favourites are Borderlands, L4D, Alien Swarm and Oblivion.
Borderlands is a good one to play together!

I have a friend who, when introduced to Prototype, sat giggling maniacally while finding new and inventive ways of killing people I never thought of.

If you know already that she likes games, then just start playing a variety with her until you find that your interests mesh up. That is if she doesn't know what kind of games she likes. If she already knows, then ask her.

If she really isn't that into games to begin with, start her off with something simple and fun, like you would start anyone off with. Just make sure you tailor it to her personality. If she's the kind of person who thinks seeing people being torn into a million bloody pieces, something like Prototype would be nice. If she wants to cure unicorns in the happy forest... Uhh... Well I'm at a loss, give her Portal.

Play a friendly game of COD or a real game.

Let's just say that I saw a girl try to play an FPS before and believe me, it wasn't pretty.
All they seem to be able to do is shoot at the sky or get one shot in before they're ripped to shreds by machine guns.
So yeah, platformers...

My girlfriend plays video games on her own, so i get it easy lol. We play a few co-op games, and right now we're playing Secret of Mana, but just go by their tastes. Like are you just asking for good co-op games? In that case I'd nominate LittleBigPlanet, Super Mario Bros. 3 or New Super Mario Bros. Wii if you can put up with dying ALOT.

And my girlfriend just suggested Mario Kart so there you go

I'm not saying that men are better than women or the other way around, I'm all for equality and such.
I just base my answers on information that I gather from past experiences, which sounds quite logical, to me at least.
Granted, encounters/experiences of a social nature with either gender have been kept to a minimum, but I can still form an opinion on the gathered information.
The females that I have met mostly ressembled a make-up doll rather than a human being.
Perhaps now you can see where I'm coming from when I say that those females, which are all females by my experience until I meet those of a more...intelligent sort, can't even handle themselves i a deathmatch.
