I think they could have done a little better than "an older model DS". I mean, even a lite would have been nicer to give as a gift to a school. If you're going to donate to be nice like that, why give soemthing that you don't even sell anymore, when there's 3 newer versions on the market? (only 2 currently I guess [XL and i])

I love how everyone's being all jaded and "publicity stunt" or "give her a newer model, ya cheap bastards"

Can't we ever accept something, even a bureaucracy, being NICE, for a change, without whining about it?

Number one, that wasn't directed at you. The OP's avatar is David Caruso from CSI Miami. So please kindly shut your noise hole. I wasn't gonna be a douche today. But its people like you that absolutely have to ruin my day. You had a choice, comment and be an asshole, or ignore it. You chose the former, and i have to say, you chose poorly.

EDIT: I cant believe im getting a lesson about "Memes" from a guy with a fucking LOL cat as his avatar. Shut up.

It's good of them to do that, although I don't buy for even one second that Nintendo is truly "disappointed" that they're getting free favorable publicity the letter circulated online.

Still, at the end of the day a little girl is happy, so yay for the big soulless corporate behemoth at least doing a convincing impression of compassion.

You would be surprised how giving most compianies are if you write them a letter. Will Nintendo send everyone on this mesage board a DS if we write them a letter, no, of course not. But, if you write them a letter, and I mean a pen and paper letter, you might be surprised at the responce. A classmate did this when I was in highschool for a class project, just writing to various companies of products he used. There was a 95% responce rate from them and in most cases they included coupons for free products.

I did it a few years later, as a joke, writing to Slim Jim (beef jerky company for those who don't know) asking about the ingrediants of thier product. They sent a reply that was clearly a responce directly to me as it answered each of my questions quite specifically, and included a coupon for a free canister of thier product.

Give it a try some time.

One DS is no sweat off of Nintendo's back in terms of the publicity they will recieve through this.

I bash Nintendo sometimes but it's nice to see they did this. My respect for them has gone up.
