Well, my ex girlfriend, the one I fell for, and just finally getting over, didn't play games, at all mainly because she never had the chance to, she grew up in a house whose first console was a Wii two summers ago.

She Had no problem with me playing games, and she would listen to me ramble about crap, but when she did come over She didn't mind watching me play L4D because as she put it "Its like a horror movie"

I only know one guy who is serious about gaming, so I can't imagine finding a girl who enjoys gaming as much as the OP's girlfriend. However, I could date a girl who doesn't care about gaming.

it's so cute!
and i have totally done that to people.

you know i have a hard enough time finding gamer guys much less gamer girls. it could just be the people i hang out with, it could be that i'm not looking hard enough.
someone made the comment early on in this topic that gamer guys are really hard to pick up. i agree with that. we don't exactly tend to put ourselves out there and make ourselves available. my advice is start the conversation, i know for me at least i simply don't talk to people i don't already know. i'd be more than happy to spend hours conversing with anyone who wants to but the risk of being caught in a discussion about sports or medicine or something i know nothing about just feels to high to be worth the risk.

if only someone could invent guidlines to identifying the interests of others within 5 minutes of opening a conversation, and how to end a conversation cordially when you are no longer interested.
i'd buy that book and swear by it.

I only get romantically attached to women who understand and/or enjoy my pastime of escapism.

That said, I have no horror stories to tell. And now I feel like a tard who has contributed very, very little to this thread.

I had a girlfriend who played once. It was pretty cool, but I couldn't play anything with her because she didn't play enough to get better than me.

I'm always ensaddened (whoo, I just made up a word, and it works with the rules! yay!) when I'm flirting with a girl, and call her a dork, and then she gets offended or upset, and demands to know what it was that caused this dork trait to appear. So few understand that it's not even in the same continent as a bad thing--it's one of the best things, even a prerequisite, even.
Yeah, girls can be weird like that. None of the guys I've called a dork/nerd/geek have ever been insulted, but I've known girls who are easily insulted or even horrified by receiving such titles, even if it's a joke. Though to be fair, I also know quite a few girls who take it as a compliment.
Haha not too be that guy, but know any in my area? They sound like quite the girls to know, in my personal opinion. I kidd, of course, unless you do know some in the area. I know a few guys who get insulted at the drop of a hat, and I know a few girls who do the same. It's a bit annoying at times, to tell the truth.

I wish for a gamer guy. You guys are actually rather tricky to pick up!
Oh please, if you think it is hard to find a male gamer, try finding a FEMALE gamer(outside of your acquaintances).
I wish for a gamer guy too. I hang out in arcades and video game stores when not working, sleeping, or gaming myself.

I know us females are harder to find but.....

OT: Take advantage of the fact that you have found a girl compatible with you. I have a hard time finding guys or girls compatible with me. Yes, rarer breed of female, bi and gamer

You have any pointers for us gamer girls then? I have been looking for a gamer guy but often just find Anime guys when I go to Waldenbooks, Borders, or Barnes & Nobles and when I go to other places the creepy guys always seem to be there instead looking at Hentai >.<
That's a tough one. Looking in book stores usually won't get you very far, but if you look for possibly a gaming club or something that meets on a weekly basis you'll have more luck. I'm not too sure where to go looking for one other than a college campus.
I have tried a few groups like that (Was "King" of Chess Club back in High school and then joined my now Ex's D&D group but it all sort of fell apart over the summer.) and I have started to hang out with some other gamers but they mostly just play GH and Rockband which I don't find that interesting. My major problem is, I find a guy, We date for a short while, and they do either 1 of 3 things: 1) They become obsessed and talk about marrying me and seeing us having kids after a short period of time. 2) They become obsessed and get a bit on the creepy side like telling me "Your smell is intoxicating" (Very creepy when you are sitting and they are behind you and breath it over your shoulder >.>;;;) and I end up running because it creeps me out or 3) They end up just flat out hating me in most cases without giving me any real explanation so as to why I have no idea so I can't try to be better about whatever causes it :/ I just got an application for GameStop too but they aren't hiring till October which is a bit frustrating.
