Girls and gaming

I like girls, and most males would agree with me. Girls are a fundamental part of life for a guy, else life would be one loooooong football locker room. I get mistaken for a girl all the time, because of (I presume my gamertag is the reason!!) is Pennyy9. Pennyy is my nickname. And so it begins. I cant play because I'm a girl, don't let me have the sniper because I'm a girl. Hey look, she has a BR, you could kill her easy because... you know. This is only when I don't use my mic, but the small times I don't use it bring on a plethora of sexist instances. Half the girls I know are awesome at games, and one of them has one of the top scores in the world at Tetris. Tetris is beast, and so I give a collosal bow to all gamer girls because you make... the gaming world go round? I don't know. Good job.

I can see how that might be fun at first but I imagine it gets old pretty fast.
I assume this is on Xbox Live, Halo 3? If so, that's probably half the reason, the people you're playing with. I'd suggest trying other online games on another platform maybe but I reckon you enjoy Halo 3 enough to put up with it, that's just a guess though.

But yes I do like writing. Not sheep so much. and editing this to add on to what you guys said, I play CoD and Soul caliber, (where most of my best characters are girls, just a coincidence) adn i get alot of the same. TF2 the same thing happens.

Do you play the female character in TF2? Heh heh heh... it's the pyro, I swear. No proof, but given the general stance towards online female gamers, it's the only way she could get in the game easily.

i'm a girl - i game - i havent had any of that rubbish. Actually my take is random enough to not give my gender away and I dont use teamspeak.
actually, that being said I was playing SC online and once they found out I was a girl they were overly impressed, I'm not the best SC player in the world but because I was competent and FEMALE that upped my points.

When we first got our Ps2 way back, my flatmate used to pick it up and she would whoop all of our asses even though she never played games... it was inexplicable but it seemed we all had to admit she was just a hard ass and naturally better than us at games...

Also, my girlfriend has much happier sims than I have, while I struggle to stop them pissing themselves and crying in the filthy kitchen, she's off buidling sparkling mansions for hers.

I can't quite seem to grasp the OP's message in all this. He likes girls, gaming, and is mistaken for one online. Are you trying to tell us to be nice to our female Gaming Counterparts?

Whats in a gender online? If a chick is good then she is good. If she is bad then she is bad. Female Gamers are a commodity among the FPS genre (MMO's have em plenty) and as such they are of course treated differently. If one were to simply Verify that you were not a girl you wouldn't receive what little abuse you are reporting.

The situation is hardly irreparable, or in need of reparation to begin with. If your good your good and if you are bad you are bad. Thats a lot easier to distinguish by than your sex, and it only takes a few minutes to decide.
