From my time playing TF2, I can tell you more often than not, players and especially admins will bend over backwards for you if you are girl. Say a little insult to her? Kicked. Banned.

It's kind of pathetic really.

I can't quite seem to grasp the OP's message in all this. He likes girls, gaming, and is mistaken for one online. Are you trying to tell us to be nice to our female Gaming Counterparts?
I agree. That's interesting Pennyy9, but do you have a question or something?

I think girls who game are awesome, but I admit that's partially because I know very few of them. I'm actually more willing to forgive a team-mate for sucking at a game if they're a girl because I know so very few girls who game at all, let alone do even moderately well (If they completely suck, then girl or not you're getting kicked)

It is. I dream of the day that the gender ratio in video games is more balanced and what you're talking about disappears

Boys still hate getting beat by girls - thats never changed
That depends on your definition of getting beat... :)
Losing, getting your ass kicked, not winning because they have won, thats pretty much what I meant
:)
If anyone beats me I always try to congradulate them, boy or girl.

Plus, girls always make things better. They are generally more interesting to talk to, and they have a lot of cool stuff to say.

Also, if you are one of the insecure crybabies who cannot stand being beaten by a girl, then consider this: if a man and a woman are dropped in the middle of the desert and both sit there and do nothing, the man will die first.

The only one I know is my wife, and she can pretty much kick mine and all my mates asses on a regular basis on any given game.

Most of my close friends on WoW Are girls. Basically they dont do the (No offense meant) "Dumb girl" act to make ridiculously stupid boys like them, also the fact as stated in this post, they are more mature and I dont have to look at poor grammar.

FYI, Most of those friends are a higher level than me, so yeah. Anyone saying girls suck at video gaming are completely wrong.

I would say that I'm a pretty skilled gamer for the most part but alas, because of my chosen name I get a lot of sexist comments when I do win... There are awesome women gamers out there who can play with the best of them.

I'm afraid I have to ask why they would have sexist instances like that, I get PWN'D by women all the time in videogames, I just don't see why they'd be sexist except for their own uncoordination

Girls are like guys, except more interesting, more mature, and on the whole, more intelligent.
Here's my favorite stereotype. Knew this would crop up in a thread like this. Can we as a species please get over the notion that all men are inferior to women simply on account of the size and shape of our genitalia? Maybe defining characteristics like intellect and maturity are based on individuality, not chromosomes.

Rant aside, I have a great deal of respect for girls who game, possibly because they seem to be an endangered species, correct me if I'm mistaken. I treat female gamers pretty much the same as I'd treat my male peers. People who treat girls who game with less than that respect are wrong and should be punched.

There's no girls on the internet, silly.
(I hear that one quite a bit.)

Yeah, I've been mistaken for a girl before on Xbox Live. Which I find odd, because my gamertag isn't really one that shows gender: livedSalmon.
But, gamer girls are pretty cool usually. I get my ass whooped by them all the time, but it's not exactly something I didn't expect, girls are just as good at gaming as boys are, and I don't see the point of discriminating.

I am fine with girls playing games....if you think online chat is sexist than you haven't seen the real world lol.

If a girl beats me in a game, I wouldn't feel like my 'manhood' is destroyed....but some men do tend to think like that. But I will whoop her ass the next time, just like I will to any other player :D

Awesome girl gamers with serious skills doesn't surprise me...what surprises me is that there are people who can't believe its happening.

Whose names don't end in .jpg anyway :p

But in all seriousness, I don't see why gaming is supposed to be a 'male' interest. One of my best friends is female and she's a Gamer. If anybody thinks girl gamers don't exist and/or must suck at games, then they're either an ignorant frat boy or a 13 year old boy (which they most likely are if we're talking XBL). Every girl I've ever seen pick up a controller has been at least mildly skilled at a game. I've always found it's fighting games, which granted aren't really more that button mashing contests. They're also really good at party games too... And puzzle games... I'm noticing a pattern...

I'm a girl and I play games and I'm proud to say I'm quite good at it. My cousins that are guys generally get beat at every game that we all play against eachother. Likewise with my brother. He plays games and when he gets beat by me he's always teasing me over the fact that he got beat by a girl. But I don't play on the online gaming yet.

My wife has the opposite problem---she uses gender-neutral names and male characters, but if she gets on Vent everyone knows she's a girl. Of course, by the time she's invited to a Vent clan/guild/whatever they call it in World of Warcraft (I don't play MMORPGs so I don't know), she's already established herself as worthy.

Girls tend to be able to maintain a constant level of maturity, an act not looked kindly upon in the online community where the words "fuck" and "****" are interchangeable with hello and goodbye.

This is because the male mindset usually revolves around the Idea that If there are no rules, and no reason to make or enforce any, then why bother with it.
This causes online conversations to progress without the normal social boundaries that reign in a face to face conversation.

So until Online gaming is more structured, or the standards for women decreased, then I dont see to many women taking part in a the online gaming scene.

As a test tell a girl shes a fat f*cking sack of worthless sh*t, and then tell a guy, the result varies greatly.
