We men like to talk a good beard, but I was wondering whether that appreciation extended to the fairer sex. So girls, do you like a man with a beard or not?

I sometimes wonder why guys get so excited about huge beards these days. They cover up the face too much, and I don't think they improve the looks of most people, with few exceptions. I don't mind stubble or a small amount of facial hair on some people if it's maintained properly, but overall, not in favor of them at all.

It usually seems to be younger guys who are so gung ho about growing huge beards, it's as if they just learned they could finally grow hair on their faces or just watched a weeklong 300 marathon.

I think beards are the men's equivalent of large sunglasses for women. Just something that the opposite sex tends to find horrible.

I've heard quite a few girls say that facial hair is a turn-off, but they're wrong.
They may not want to admit it; they may not even be consciously aware that it is happening, but nothing arouses the females like a great old manly beard.

A very short beard - more stubble than beard is very attractive, as long as it looks like you actually can grow a full beard. If it looks like it'd be sparse and stringy, then clean-shaven. But I do find the hint of a beard very sexy.

Depends on the beard and the face. Some people look good with a beard others don't. Though as a personal preference I dislike full beards, they make you look like a lumberjack or a viking and I don't find either attractive.

If I wanted a guy with a beard I would just scour my face with steel wool. My skin is super sensitive.

It's particularly irritating for me cause my boyfriend grows a beard very very quickly.
He just looks so much nicer shaven.

I sport a chinstrap to give my face some definition. It's like giving my face a border and makes my head appear less tiny.

No we dont. think beards are stupid and should be done away with. Infact i think all hair save for the ones on head is unnecessary to humans, and even those grow way too fast.

My boyfriend doesn't bother to shave very often so he usually has some scruffy facial hair which I think looks adorable manly. I think full on beards can look cool, but only if the man is middle aged or older. They can look absolutely amazing on a hobo or a university professor. Occasionally I find myself completely awestruck by someone's beard. I see a large, white beard and all I can think for the next few minutes is "Fuck, that was an epic beard".

There are some styles that should be punishable by death

1. Male Ponytails- get rid of it. Stop looking like a hitman in a bad 80's movie.

Amusingly, I've been told I have a very villainish look to me; as I rock a pony tail and a goatee. Laughing at the jealous rage women get in over my superbly naturally thick hair I do nothing to maintain (beyond washing that is); I love it when they run their fingers through it. Did short hair once a long time ago, never going back.

Besides, we're hit men, what are you going to do about it?

Edit: Sorry about the lighting, it's almost 2 am here and our living room light is one of those "white" power saving lights which makes everything look super weird.

Not, you know, super beard beards, but I like me a stylish goatee. Particularly of the Evil variety.

Also, a shaved face with some two-day scruff can be sexy if properly managed.

Full beards, no - ick. Too much of a good thing. A little facial hair is slightly scratchy when the lips are kissed - I don't want a Brillo pad attacking my chin.
