Give me a stereotype of any genre of music and I will post a song that breaks it.

Death Metal - Clean vocals - You lose.
Yeah I could make out some words, but were they really saying anything? No.
Were they really saying anything? These are some of the best lyrics I have heard all decade. The song is lyrical genius, and says a fucking hell of a lot more than the majority of other bands, metal or otherwise. And how can you not understand what he is saying, I could pikc out pretty much every word on my first listen. If these are mindless vocals then I am typing without hands.

Probabably one of the "truer" artists of the decade. His newer stuff is definately more pop/club directed but his first album is honesty incarnate. Currently 11th highest rated on Metacritic.
I couldn't get through 5 seconds of that without experiencing extreme anger.
So it's not just me, he's always going to be a pretentious no talent jibberer with delusions of not being all of the above.

Unless you had mute on that entire time, I'm pretty damn sure it was making noise.

Not all noise is music. It was indeed making noise. A jackhammer makes noise, a toilet flushing makes noise, but I wouldn't buy either of those sounds on iTunes.

You're getting it the wrong way around. You can debate the fact that it's music, that doesn't change that it's sound. He didn't say all sound is music, he said all music has sound.
I've proven him wrong at any rate. :p

This guy gets it. That's actually a very clever social experiment.

Well just to try and find a number that could work with it:
Thank god for the oldies! :p

Country songs sung by men are about: Trucks, being a cowboy or making love to a woman.

Country songs sung by women are about: Longlost love or being strong, independent and not needing a man.
Allow me.

One of my favourite songs ever, and I'm a die-hard metal fan.

O.T. Classic Metal is, while being VERY good music has no songs that isn't about pain, evil, insanity, violence, or war, etc.
Dio's Rainbow in the Dark

Planet Caravan - Black Sabbath

Any Instrumental Metal

Hell even Manowar - I Believe

Manowar - (and yes they are listed with Classic Metal as well as Heavy)

Zep-

Judas Priest-

Iron Maiden-

And a little Extra Credit. Proving not even Heavy Metal/Thrash/Speed Metal hits that stereotype
Metallica-

Anthrax-

I Believe that just got ASS RAPED!

Most New Thrash Bands, or other "screaming metal" band's influences can be traced back to Pantera.

Lots of creative composition, changing time signatures, different styles are played and combined. There are parts with singing too, and the lyrics are well written and unique.
While I will admit that the guitar work was good, I couldnt for the life of me make out any of the words on my own, so my beliefs still are still in place.
Agreed. The beginning still sounded like the crappy death metal I'm used to hearing. So I fail to see how the example proves the conception of the genre wrong.

Well, you passed my test. This boy really does know his metal. Although I haven't much to say of your thing, as I don't listen to any recently formed Thrash Metal bands. But what the fuck is "Screaming Metal"?

I didn't want to call it Screamo (screaming emo), or and of the million Xcore's because i don't listen to that crap and so i don't know the sounds.

So i put in Screaming metal as an umbrella term to house all that new screeching shit the kids are listening to and do their gay little Karate Pits in.
