Were they really saying anything? These are some of the best lyrics I have heard all decade. The song is lyrical genius, and says a fucking hell of a lot more than the majority of other bands, metal or otherwise. And how can you not understand what he is saying, I could pikc out pretty much every word on my first listen. If these are mindless vocals then I am typing without hands.Zirat said:Yeah I could make out some words, but were they really saying anything? Death Metal - Clean vocals - You lose.
So it's not just me, he's always going to be a pretentious no talent jibberer with delusions of not being all of the above.Uber Evil said:I couldn't get through 5 seconds of that without experiencing extreme anger.the Dept of Science said:Probabably one of the "truer" artists of the decade. His newer stuff is definately more pop/club directed but his first album is honesty incarnate. Currently 11th highest rated on Metacritic.

Um, Ac/Dc, Guns and Roses, they are both hard rock.BarbaricGoose said:Hard Rock bands always have a vocalist with a deep voice.

Unless you had mute on that entire time, I'm pretty damn sure it was making noise.BarbaricGoose said:Nope. You lose.NoblePhilistineFox said:ALL MUSIC HAS SOUND IN IT!!!!

Not all noise is music. It was indeed making noise. A jackhammer makes noise, a toilet flushing makes noise, but I wouldn't buy either of those sounds on iTunes.Lord_Panzer said:Unless you had mute on that entire time, I'm pretty damn sure it was making noise.

You're getting it the wrong way around. You can debate the fact that it's music, that doesn't change that it's sound. He didn't say all sound is music, he said all music has sound.BarbaricGoose said:Not all noise is music. It was indeed making noise. This guy gets it. That's actually a very clever social experiment.Outright Villainy said:Nope. [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/4_33]NoblePhilistineFox said:ALL MUSIC HAS SOUND IN IT!!!!

Agreed. The beginning still sounded like the crappy death metal I'm used to hearing. So I fail to see how the example proves the conception of the genre wrong.Zirat said:While I will admit that the guitar work was good, I couldnt for the life of me make out any of the words on my own, so my beliefs still are still in place.TheLaofKazi said:Zirat said:Death metal is just mindless screaming into a microphone
Lots of creative composition, changing time signatures, different styles are played and combined. There are parts with singing too, and the lyrics are well written and unique.
Well, you passed my test. This boy really does know his metal. Although I haven't much to say of your thing, as I don't listen to any recently formed Thrash Metal bands. But what the fuck is "Screaming Metal"?RareDevil said:Dio's Rainbow in the DarkTriforceformer said:O.T. Planet Caravan - Black Sabbath
Any Instrumental Metal
Hell even Manowar - I Believe
Manowar - (and yes they are listed with Classic Metal as well as Heavy)
Zep-
Judas Priest-
Iron Maiden-
And a little Extra Credit. Proving not even Heavy Metal/Thrash/Speed Metal hits that stereotype
Metallica-
Anthrax-
I Believe that just got ASS RAPED!
Most New Thrash Bands, or other "screaming metal" band's influences can be traced back to Pantera.
I didn't want to call it Screamo (screaming emo), or and of the million Xcore's because i don't listen to that crap and so i don't know the sounds.Triforceformer said:Well, you passed my test.
