Give me a stereotype of any genre of music and I will post a song that breaks it.

Also, classical music is boring.

EDIT: OH MAN! Its such a well made "stereotype" that it has already been said in these exact words! And I dont think anyone has proven it isnt... MY WORD! They should just put it on a giant stone and fire it into space like a second moon.

But to keep -this- post on topic... Can someone disprove the stereotype that a cover of a song can never be better than the original? =o ... Not really a genre thing... Uh... Rock song... I guess... Or something. >.>;;
Maybe not better, but at least as good as the original:

Dude... boring AND cliched!
Maybe cliched, but I don't see how it's boring.
Its just the same old thing, dont know about you but I find that if I am presented with the same thing over and over I get bored of it.

How do you mean "the same old thing"? You mean all classical music sound the same to you?

Dub Step sounds like a whale being defiled by bass.

You can't break that one mate! Try as you might...it will always sound like that. And people who like it will describe it as 'phat' and annoy me by ruining every night club
Of course, I'm railing against an opinion here, but--

http://www.phidelity.com/mp3/2008-phidelity-AlienStep.mp3

It's all in the tempo. A little slower than your average, but it still counts!

Of course, since I'm attempting to disprove an opinion (futile) and not break a stereotype (easy), I'm calling it a wash.

Hmm, not really... though I couldnt tell you any of the lesser known stuff and there are parts that are awfully samey.

To my knowledge there hasnt been any noteworthy classical music that has been released in what... a century? Hell, the most famous of that genre are from 200+ years ago and whenever you hear people talking about it they are talking about the "same old" stuff or someones rendition of the "same old" stuff.

All rap music is either the artist explaining hardships or how successful/cool they are.

I'm not sure if this has been said, but here goes anyway. All DNB follow the same basic pattern. By DNB, I mean Drum and Bass. [sub]Did I do it right?[/sub]

Metal is gay.

Contradict that!
I can break that one without posting a music video.
You don't see other male metal bands having sex with other male metal bands now do you?
(Well not that I know off and it's not everyone who have gay sex with everyone)

Hip-hop is a genre, rap is a sub-genre.
Disagree.

Hip Hop is a culture, Hip Hop music is the music associated with that culture and rapping is a vocal technique.

Over the years people just got lazy and decided to call it Hip Hop or Rap.

You were close, but perhaps I should have been more specific. I meant the drum in Drum and Bass. To me, it seems like the drums follow the same basic pattern in every song. Now, I know they aren't exactly the same from beginning to end, but they sound similar. At least, they do to me.
