To explain the former, I always thought of it as that when you expect to succeed and don't, you generally lose your drive to keep working on it. Whereas if you expect to fail, you probably won't lose much if you do and when you succeed, you may enjoy the success even more.
I don't know, it's kinda odd, but it's something.
I guess it counts, I say it to myself when ever I'm unsure of something. It's not quoted from anything I know.
"You know where this ends"
It's just a reminder to myself that whatever the problem there will be an end to it. The only choice is good or bad, which is the one I make.
