I mean look back at winter soldier, cap and Sharon Carter share 2 scenes and maybe 5 lines of dialog, yet were supposed to be invested in their inevitable future relationship.
I don't recall them ever pushing that ship in Winter Soldier. Did they expand on this in Civil War? Because I haven't seen that at all yet. If that's the character that Black Widow was trying to hook him up with, they didn't hook up. That was one co-worker simply putting out an idea for a date. And as best as I recall Winter Soldier, nothing came of it.

Same with Thor and Sif, Sif HAS to have romantic feelings for Thor. And a button load of other examples I'm too lazy too look up a 5 am.
Well, to be fair, there is some precedent for Thor and Sif to be a couple :) Again, I didn't see Thor: Dark World, so I don't know how much they expanded on that relationship, but I wouldn't find it weird to just say they have chemistry from before the movies. I personally don't require a movie to show me everything on screen. If they establish "we've got history as a couple from a long time ago." Ok fine, as long as the actors actually portray the "history" well, it's fine. I mean we know from Thor that they clearly went on adventures together, Thor reminds them of their adventures to convince them to help him with his assault on the Frost Giants.

Sharon Carter is the woman who was spying/keeping an eye on Captain America from the apartment across the hall in Winter Soldier. They do have a few kissy eyes (And one kissy lips) scenes in Civil War, but the movie wisely speeds past them.

Huh, don't remember that bit at all. Then I don't remember much of Winter Soldier, other than generally liking it. Details just sort of all fuzzed out.

Don't worry it was largely unimportant. Plus Cap was doing it to largely manipulate her and doesn't have any feels for her as his true love is obviously Phil Coulson

Make Captain America gay? No way that's happening outside fan fiction, making that official would be almost as stupid as making Captain America a secret Hydra Agent and there's no way THAT would ever happen either...

A Marvel Editor Explains How Captain America Was a Hydra Agent All Along [https://www.yahoo.com/news/marvel-editor-explains-captain-america-120025758.html]

Oh.

Okay, everybody prepare for Captain America to suddenly and retroactively be gay. If the official writers are stupid enough to do this^ they're stupid enough to do anything.

Oh.
I hear by retract my original suggestion for Phil Coulson. I'm now rooting for Cap and Red Skull.

Yes, because making him gay is along the lines of making him a super Nazi spy. *Sigh* The Marvel universe. Where you can have a frozen super soldier from the 1940s fighting alongside a green rage monster and a Norse god, but having him suck cock is out of the question.

Sounds as authentic as "the Sentry was a lost Stan Lee Creation" or "Peter Parker's dead and Otto is the new Spider-man forever".

Lots of lies in these interviews. They fact people still buy it is depressing.

EDIT: on a side note, great job Marvel. Rip off what you did to Iron Man in the 90s (he'd been a double agent for Kang all along from the start). You know, a decision that was exceptionally reviled and you had to retcon out in less than a year. hmmm. massive crosssovers all the time, shocking dumb ideas, swap out characters for new ones in the same suit. Did I go back in time to the 90s?

Doing either to Captain America is or in the case of making him gay would be a complete betrayal of the character, blatantly runs entirely contrary to his entire history, is massively inconsistent, and doesn't benefit the character or the stories he is in in any way whatsoever. Both are completely out of the question in any remotely sane and consistent comic book universe, but Marvel has shown they are stupid enough to do one, therefore there's a decent chance they will do the other. Making Captain America gay and making him a Super Nazi may or may not be on the same level of bad idea but are both equally stupid because of how they destroy the entire character of Captain America. Comic books and Marvel in particular have been doing little other than systematically wrecking each and every one of their characters to sell comics off the sheer shock value for years now, and that's all this is and that's all making Captain America gay would be.

Of course. We all know they are going to backpedal on this within a year tops, it's just a question of which will be more stupid, the "Captain America is a Hydra Agent" reveal and the resulting storyline or the B.S. Marvel will come up with to reverse the whole thing.

It also looks to me like something Marvel are doing to ravage Steve Rogers' image in the eyes of the fans in order to make Sam Wilson being Captain America look better, especially considering how bad reception of that has been.

Hell, this crap comic books have been doing the last few years makes similar stuff they were doing in the 90's look GOOD in comparison. Hell, they didn't do crap like this anywhere near as often back then.

.....No. No it wouldn't be. Unless you're saying that Captain America ALWAYS has to be 100% straight, and can never be so much as heteroflexable. Hey. People can go through their life and discover that they're sexually attracted to just one person of the opposite sex. I know someone who experienced this quite recently. Also let's not act like we get upset when a character isn't portrayed as being 100% true to the original, because I could've sworn that a key component of Captain America was that Bucky was a little kid originally. His iconic Vibranium shield wasn't added until much later, so let's not pretend that there can be changes to the character that people won't be happy with. Destroy the character? Oh yes, because the second Cap sucks a dick, everything else about him goes out the window. Yes, that is the key of his character, and having him suck a penis would destroy everything about him.

Not like we could've had an interesting storyline about him being in the closet due to being raised in the 1940s.

The fact that your avatar is very specifically cropped at the bunny's butt...makes me afraid it's some kind of bunny porn clip, and that's not a sleeping face she's making, but an O face.

Not that I have a problem with that, but when that image is coupled with "Hail Hydra", all I can imagine is some really weird furry hentai tentacle porn hybrid.

You say that like cropped furry porn as avatars is a new thing. There was (And maybe there still is) a user that has an avatar with furry cum in it.

I assume that everyone here is a colossal perv, into the most deviant forms of pornography imaginable. Hell, I assume your ninja is pantless and being serviced.

And that is in no way me projecting. I swear.

That's fine, I pulled the image from escapists list of free avatars, so any kink you imagine it purely the website's kink. And like I said, I don't have an issue with it, I just found the combination of image and phrasing to be quite dirty and funny.

The fact that people in real life have changed their sexual orientation later on in their lives is no justification for a fictional character who has for DECADES shown no sign of being anything but 100% straight becoming gay, especially in a entertainment medium where viewers ROUTINELY SEE THE THOUGHTS OF PEOPLE. If making Captain America gay is acceptable change to the character the word consistency means precisely nothing, it's like turning Luke Cage white, taking away Spider-Man's Spider Powers and then giving him eel powers, or whatever and then acting like those always were the case and having the characters act like it, it's nothing but retconning of the highest order.

Yeah, most were bad, but it was a fun kind of bad, and actually did get me to read a lot of new books. Now it's 2 or 3 event crossovers a year that serve less as self contained stories than as plot devices for books that don't have time to do anything with them because the next event is coming up. The character swaps...let's not start that fight today, but suffice to say, the fact I'm not reading any Marvel titles for the first time ever is a statement of how unimpressed I've been.

A comic book character who has existed for nearly a century of homosexuals being barely tolerated at best, and openly persecuted at worst. If I were him, I'd keep it hidden too, especially considering how high profile he is. And that's without getting into the fact that no one would ever write Captain America as gay before because of those very reasons. And as I've said before. Clearly characters can change, seeing as how Bucky was a little kid in the comics, yet no one had a problem with him being aged up on the movies. Making Captain America gay would be like making Spider-man Eel-Man? Sorry, last time I checked his name was Captain America, not Captain Heteronormative. Except, as I said before, people can discover that they have feelings for the same gender, sometimes only in limited situations. There's a difference between that and physically changing a character. One happens. The other doesn't. I'm not even saying it has to be that he was always like that. Give him a sexual awakening. It happens.
