If you are some sicko with the hots for your siblings then I hope they lock their doors at night.
Its VERY wrong. The bond that siblings share is VERY different than boyfriend/girlfriend on SO MANY LEVELS.
I'm not even gonna argue this with you, you are sick.
What if two people fall in love and only later discover that they're genetically related? Should they give each other up simply because society keeps calling them sickos?Ninja_X said:No, just no.Glefistus said:Give me one good reason outside religion, assuming no breeding.Ninja_X said:YES THERE IS.Berethond said:Why?

No really, who? And why should I care? Why are you befouling my internets with this garbage, you uncouth poltroon?
Really? When was the last time you heard of long lost siblings coincidentally running into each other and falling in love? Not that it hasn't happened, I'm not omnipresent, but the chance it has is very, very miniscule.Graustein said:What if two people fall in love and only later discover that they're genetically related? If you are sexually attracted to your sibling there is something wrong with you.....period.
Stop throwing insults around and actually address my question.Ninja_X said:1st of all, that is retarded.
Even if that did happen, animals (us included) instinctively know not to be attracted to family.
It's not likely at all, you're right, but I have heard of instances of it occurring. More to the point, it's the incest scenario towards which we are most likely to feel sympathetic: Two people, unaware of their relationship, fall in love completely naturally. Then, later, they discover that they are in fact, genetically, siblings. So, let us assume two facts: firstly the absence of any social brother-sister relationship between them and secondly the decision not to reproduce. In this scenario, is any psychological harm going to befall them for their relationship beyond that produced by social pressures to end it? And this is not the only scenario in which people will be in love and genetically close and not care about the latter. I'm not one to deny love for the sake of a knee-jerk reaction; if I did I'd be protesting gay marriage.paypuh said:Really? Ancient cultures married COUSINS not siblings. Also in pride and prejudice, COUSINS not siblings. You can get away with more distant relationships.Graustein said:Stop throwing insults around and actually address my question.Ninja_X said:1st of all, that is retarded.

I'd also like to mention that in ancient Egypt, among other places, it was commonplace for the aristocracy and royalty to marry within the family. Take Amenhotep and his sister-wife Ahmose-Meritamun. In fact, just read Pride and Prejudice and you'll see that as recently as the 19th Century it was not considered odd for cousins to marry in England. Finally, I would point you to Greek mythology. Did you know that Zeus and Hera were siblings? How about Oranos and his mother-wife Gaia? Kronos and his sister-wife Rhea? Or the Egyptian Osiris and Isis, yet another wedded pair of siblings. These instances are far from isolated. Now why would human cultures have deities - paragons of contemporary conceptions of virtue, the people we wish we were - which participate in brother-sister incest? How does any of this point towards an instinctual aversion?
Love without sex is basically what being brother and sister is. So they would not need to stay /boyfriend/girlfriend because sibling do love eachother. It's not likely at all, you're right, but I have heard of instances of it occurring. I believe in a case like that, it would be in their best interest if they didn't let anyone know they are biological siblings, alleviating the issue altogether. The less people who know, the less backlash they will have to deal with. If I knew the couple before the genetic discovery then told the news later, I'd think it was gross, the same way I think gay sex is gross. But seeing as one of my closest friends is gay, it's safe to say I'd treat the couple the same no matter what transpired.Graustein said:It's not likely at all, you're right, but I have heard of instances of it occurring.
