I was going to make a thread on the self centred, smug, attitude of environmentalists today but I will just tack it on here...

I am sick and tired of environmentalists whimpering and protesting when in reality they know SQUAT about saving the environment! They all have some sort of defect in their minds that forbids them from making a rational connection whenever it comes to the environment. They will willingly spew forth any BullShit they hear, without thinking or researching it through, cause not to do so will some how 'destroy the world ecosystems.' In reality the only 'solutions' they are able to put forth is rolling back the industrial clock to pre-industrial means, which would involve a genocide of at least 3/4 of the worlds population to archive! Say, for example, green farming.... Without factory farming we couldn't feed more then a tiny slither of the worlds population but that is the 'only solution' they put forth when it comes to farming.

I am sick and tired of this mentality, this protest and it will all be better mindset. Surely if the hundreds of thousands of greenies sat down and planned some real solutions we could have change that pushes us towards a cleaner environment in a way that may actually be possible, that we may very well bring around. It might not be 100% cleaning up human impact but at least it will be a great chunk reduced and at the same time be achievable.

Yet all we get is the brain dead slogans, protests and 'two minutes of hate' that will do nothing to fix the environmental issue!

Global warming:
It exists, it is a natural cycle that normally happens and has been documented for millions of years in polar ice. The question that has to be raised is simple: what is our impact on global warming, how are we affecting this cycle and what damage can it cause.

I personally believe we do have an impact but not enough to be hysterical about. What changes we do have are going to be minimal, nothing more then a few degrees at most, and the world systems will negate and balance this change as it always has.

Who knows, warming the world a few degrees might very well be a GOOD thing. We don't know, in reality we do NOT know what the changes will bring. Hence assuming the worse extremes though, we are not going to see a sudden warming to Venus type degree, is just down right folly! The reality is, more then likely, the change will not even be noticed by the majority of the ecological systems and the few that do get effected will evolve and adapt to the change without the system collapsing.

Now we need to clean up the air, the sea and the land for more important reasons then 'global warming.' Selfish reasons, yes, but more important reasons: That pollution is not good for us, period! If the means exist to reduce it then it becomes in our own self interest to reduce it. It is in our own self interest to research and implement systems that do not kill us as a by product.

For that reason alone we need environmental change, led by scientific fact and not hysteria and fear!

"By the mid-1980s, the environmental movement had abandoned science and logic in favor of emotion and sensationalism."
-Patrick Moore, former president of Greenpeace.

Here's some more information [http://news.slashdot.org/story/09/07/28/0017214/Formerly-Classified-Global-Warming-Spy-Photos-Released] for the people that care for the actual facts:

"The Obama administration has released more than a impact of global warming [http://www.reuters.com/article/environmentNews/idUSTRE56F6N220090717] in the Arctic and the retreat of glaciers in Washington and Alaska."

What I'm curious about is why those photo's were kept classified by the Bush administration. If they're so such there's no such thing as global warming, then why keep this a secret?

Personally, I believe in the theory of global warming. But even if you don't, what's the harm in playing it on the cautious side?

There's already been breakthroughs in alternative forms of energy because of the global warming concern, which will eventually become more efficient than anything we rely on now. Will we see the fruits of these labours? Maybe, maybe not, but if the the great minds of ages past thought that, we'd probably still be sitting around in animal skins, scratching our asses.

sick of this argument...
it doesn't MATTER if you believe the world will burn or not, any efforts made to stop global warming also stop things like the world running out of resources, and congestion in towns.
stuff like walking instead of driving and showering instead of bathing aren't doing you any harm; when it comes to the planet you're living on, better safe than sorry, right?

just take the f*cking bus and quit trying to have an opinion.

[for the record, you can keep your opinion, i just dont approve of it ^^ ]

For me it doesn't matter whether its real or not. Fact is, we will run out of fossil fuels one day and the world as we know it will be fucked if we can't come up with a sustainable, renewable alternative. If the fear of Global Warming stops people from being such wasteful cunts then I'm all for it. We need maximize our time to come up with a solution.

Well..I global temperature shifts are cyclical [or so I heard].
But we're certainly not helping anything with greenhouse gases. Just speeding up the process and giving ourselves less time to prepare.
Also, pollution is disgusting, plain and simple.

Look, real or not, pollution is disgusting and not healthy, oil companies are evil and hold the world in their hands. Renewable rescources are a good thing, and should be researched more.

I rest my case
