There are less 'topics' on the Escapist, but the amount of Elitism and Bile they contain is just...well, I don't know what other word to use, but they're on the scale of being Epic.
I mean really, the amount of flaming in some of the topic is far heavier then anything you'll find on GF or otherwise.

I really didn't enjoy it that much. It was alright, but not as good as everyone says. The story was "eh', gameplay wasn't too great, some levels are outright bullshit (FUCKING WATER TEMPLE!). And yeah, just didn't enjoy it all that much.
I also haven't fully played through Fallout 1 or 2.
I really don't see the amount of elitism here that many people claim there is. Sure there may be pockets here and there...but for good reason. This place is better than those other places, so why can't we say that we are better?

Eh, there is a fine line. Its easy to confuse someone who disagrees with you and has lots of reasons as elitist. Probably a result of most sites having short post-flame wars. In other words, they confuse sophistication with elitism.Mr.Pandah said:

I remember once getting into a discussion on Youtube about whether or not Travis Barker was a decent drummer. It resulted with two users insulting me, one going on to insult me in the comments to one of my own videos and me blocking said user in the end. A few months later I saw someone who spelt the word 'Skills' with a 'z' make an ad hominem statemnt at someone by criticising their spelling. That was what made me pretty much give up commenting on Youtube; there is a little bit of decent discussion out there but everywhere else the place is just horrid.
I also got into an argument on Kongregate with someone which resulted in them assuming via an analogy they used that I view fat people as being a race. I don't really visit that site's forums anymore either nowadays, to be honest.
Needless to say, I've remained on The Escapist for a reason. We're not the best by any means, but we do have our standards which I approve of and stick by whenever possible.
If you feel like saying that you love something then say that you love it as much as you want. Simple enough principle to work with.

But in all seriousness this is the first forum I've ever joined so I dont have much to compare it to, but it's been my regular spot since I joined. If someone tries to demean me I usually just ignore them, but if someones just joking with me I can laugh about it. It just depends how seriously you take everything.
I've been at a few other places, but not the deepest depths of the web. There are places where people use their anonymity to basically say what they feel, but without thought or restraint that you normally do in regular conversation. I'm not really anonymous here as I know a few people on here personally. Actually I spent the day with a few escapists today.
I have no problems being called an elitist. I automatically translate that as "You're absolutely right but I'm far too childish to concede the point, wah wah wah."
