This place is honestly no better than any half decent forum. If you truly think it is then you need to stop visiting youtube and actually try to find a community of any worth.
This place has far more than its share of idiots, intolerance of others opinions, recycled boring topics, hypocrisy and pretentiousness (these two are especially in bountiful supply). But it is thanks to people like you that we can add stupid overwhelming and totally unfounded ego to the list.
So thank you for doing your part to bring this place down just a little more.

As much as I hate to say "this" like some moron, it fully applies in this case.

This site is no better or worse than most of the other forums I have been part of. Sure, there's been a few more intelligent threads here, but those other forums didn't have nearly so many pretentious asshats. They didn't have the huge number of wankfests self-congratulatory threads that The Escapist seems to attract either. No offence OP, but this type of thread is starting to get annoying with how often they seem to be popping up. Especially when every single one of them has words to the effect of "We are better than the average internet user".

Don't get me wrong, I do like the site and generally enjoy my time here, but it is by no means perfect. It's average, maybe above average at best. Hell, if it wasn't for people in the user groups I'm in and some of the people in the Forum Games, I would probably have left a long time ago.

Possibly the most retarded discussion I ever saw was on this board I more or less have abandoned, called Don't Fap December. Apparently, there was a contest as to who could go through December without masturbating or having sex, and people actually kept the apt readers up to date on their sexual status. Your OP is the OP of somebody who's never been to any other somewhat alright forum ever. There are smart and nice people all over the Internet, and excuse me, but I've never felt a particularly large concentration of them were at The Escapist. If we're going off of percentages I feel quite the opposite is true, even compared to places like Gamefaqs. Yeah, I PREFER Gamefaqs to here.

You know, console gamers aren't that good either, and if there wouldn't be PC gamers on the Escapist, then you would probably say you hate all the PS3/Xbox users. Also, I believe I've seen more console gamers hating PC gamers than the other way around.

Well I have seen the reverse.

As a person who own . . . ok well every system (I include the PC in case you don't) I find the entire argument stupid. Though I tend to lean towards agreeing with PC gamers just by watching the trend of consoles becoming more like PCs with every iteration.

I really don't see the amount of elitism here that many people claim there is. Sure there may be pockets here and there...but for good reason. This place is better than those other places, so why can't we say that we are better?
