I love this place, it's the only place I spend my time. I've tried a very few other sites and forums, but most people there are just... ugh.

I haven't been on this forum for very long (I forgot I had an account for like a year, haha), but so far, I'm absolutely loving the community here. Mature, civil, and not complaining about stupid crap in every thread.

Not all of us PC Gamers are elitists, just a lot of us.

I'm not. I'm a PC gamer but I don't hate consoles. I just prefer a good ol' PC with a mouse and keyboard. Consoles are not bad. It's just a matter of preference. I obviously think that PC's are superior to consoles but that doesn't mean I think PC gamers are superior to console gamers. That would make no sense.

I love this site. I think the reason people are so well behaved here is that people are encouraged to develop an identity here, so your not quite so anonymous. And the people who develop the identity of an asshole get banned. I'm sure that helps.

OT: i think the stupidest argument i ever got into was one about the new world order theory and their "proof" when they cited that the summerians had found lizard like bones many hundreds of years ago (supposedly sub terranian beings who control the earth along with some help from aliens who live on nibiru i think)

instead of taking that route and believing watever doesn't come from a scientists/governments mouth as some sort of anti conformist movement would (like the NWO) i tried to reason it out by saying it was dinosaur bones (which in all fairness were lizards and about the same size as bones found) and like most civilisations found something they couldnt explain and blame it on some sort of deity or supernatural being. in this case lizard people.

I thought Ocerana of time is so-so.

I really didn't enjoy it that much. It was alright, but not as good as everyone says. The story was "eh', gameplay wasn't too great, some levels are outright bullshit (FUCKING WATER TEMPLE!). And yeah, just didn't enjoy it all that much.

I also haven't fully played through Fallout 1 or 2.

I guess SOMEONE wants out of the will! I swear, when did the mods get soft enough to let such a noob post eleven thousand times?


Or on topic, Irridium is less than huma- oh wait. Yeah sometimes the elitism is present, but I guess you get that anywhere.

Its the only site where a section dealing with religion or politics (much less religion and politics) can avoid becoming a cesspool of ignorance, insults and discrimination. There is some of that, but here its the exception, not the rule.

Most other forums i go on are full of annoying ass fanboys and trolls, there may be trolls scattered here and there but in my short time here i've found them alot more managable

Also i'm used to clan forums, where even if you have a legit point, if it contrasts with the admin beliefs you get ip banned and possibly even DDoS'ed in more extrema cases(happened to 1 or 2 long term members that got banned, its done to make people die and lose their items in the game the clan is for)

Once upon a time, when I was but a wee newbie on the grand expanses of teh interwebz, I used to go to a site called Seibertron.com. It's a transformers site and I used to be a big poster there, mostly because it wasn't blocked at school and hey, it's transformers, it's all good.

Lately though I've been going back, mostly to play the Heavy Metal War, but also browsing the new forums and stuff. And I'm amazed at the quality of posters there and how it's gone down, or maybe it's just that posting here I've come across more mature and intelligent people.

But since coming here a lot, I don't have much to say there anymore. There's nothing all that provoking anymore on those boards for me.

Let me ruin the vibe of this thread.

This place is just as awful as any other videogame forum on the internet. Yeah, sure, you don't have opinionated 12 year olds like gameFAQS, and you guys do actually post about videogames unlike 4chan's /v/ board. But you still suffer the same list of problems that any other forum has: Moderator brown-nosing, e-penis numbers, circle-jerking, pointless drama and, of course, snobbery. The key issue with this forum, and every other forum on the internet is, your posts are ever about your opinion - it's about that fact that it's YOUR opinion.

And that doesn't help when your opinions are the epitome of hipster. Nobody heard of that obscure JRPG in your PS2 games collection? Goddamn genius. Mass Effect? Must be garbage!

And allow me to act like some sort of mother fucking mind reader and take a guess that, at one point, you guys planned to develop a game together, but it fell through. Am I getting warm? Because every geeky forum on the internet has tried it. Trust me on this.

I'm not saying you guys are bad or any worse than say, gameFAQs, or /v/, or NeoGAF, or wherever. What I am saying is, you suffer from serious delusions of grandeur and you don't seem to realise that your shit stinks just as much as other people's. And that's fine. Just don't pretend you are special. You spend your time discussing videogames for fuck's sake. Nothing wrong with that, but hey, it's better to realise how unimportant that topic really should be to you.

I guess what I'm trying to say is, throwing in words with more than 2 syllables, and decent grammar, into your posts doesn't make you better than whatever asshole is on the other side of the net. You're just as much of a schmuck as the people you look down on.


Anyway, I'll let the first person who's feelings I hurt to pull apart my post by quoting it paragraph by paragraph and writing a bunch of strawman rhetoric in response, because that's how critical thinking works, amirite?

I've got to say this is exactly it. I'm not the best debater in the world... but then I don't come here and claim to be. I've been on other forums, and The Escapist comes near the top.

Look, The Escapist is a good forum. Statistically speaking, I would argue there are fewer flamers and such here than on some other forums, yes, but this place just doesn't warrant threads like this.

It just isn't that great.
