Would have preferred bigger spines, but overall its a great looking Godzilla. Guessing they were going more for the original look than the late 90's and the awesome Godzilla 2000 look. :) But i will wait for the movie, i remember Cloverfield toy made the monster look goofy. But i think the Godzilla movie will be awesome by what ive seen of the actual trailer/teaser.

Interesting. As you said the rhino feet and tiny spines are kind of disappointing, but this is way more "Godzilla" looking than the Godzilla that we got last time America tried to make one. (Still got my Zilla '98 Taco Bell cup holder though.)
Is that the one that is supposed to hang from a car door by way of the window? If so I think I have that in storage at my parents house. Boy did that thing not work at all, kept falling off the door and spilling drinks in my lap.

OT: Looks like Godzilla, maybe things are a bit different but its much more 'zilla than the last American abortion...

Jesus Christ, I clicked the wrong tab and thought I was in the JewWario thread when I read this. D:

OT: I read this thread's title and thought "Yep, it's Cojo again." And yep, it was Cojo again.

At least you've become more self aware about it.

Anyways, it looks like a creature I wouldn't want staring in my window. Good enough for me.

While the legs look fat but the feet doesn't look like it will support him and I think the spike spine thing look abit small. They could of reused the original Godzilla spine (it more three triangle fuse together).

It doesn't look anything like the Big Guy in the trailer. Spines are way too tiny and the snout is too small. I think someone found a prototype...

The head disturbingly reminds me of that awful Super Mario Brothers Movie for some reason? Do they have Denis Hopper playing Godzilla?

I actually liked that one better. It just looked cooler. The original Godzilla looks too generic to be interesting.
I'm guessing that was your first or one of your first Godzilla/Giant monster movies then? I'd been watching them on and off since I was like 3 years old (part of the reason I never got into the Power Rangers, I felt very much "Been there, done that better.") so I have a bias towards the older movies.

Even if I didn't though the CGI in Godzilla 98 has aged pretty badly. So for the monsters it's really a matter of whether you prefer obvious monster suites or bad CGI. I will admit the 98 film was better paced than many of the older original movies though. Which tried to have 10 minutes of monster footage padded out with an hour and a half of a half-baked espionage plot or whatever. For my money there's no contest though, the best 90s Godzilla movie was Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah (1991). Even if seeing Godzilla kill American troops in WW2 as a "heroic" act makes me a bit uncomfortable, you just can't beat Mecha King Ghidorah.

Haha yeah they must have designed that thing with like, one car model in mind. Even then it probably never worked.

Hmm. You know, I actually like it.

It's clearly not going to win over the Original Godzilla and Zilla from American movie, but it's got a distinctive look to it while still displaying similar characteristics to the Godzilla franchise.

Not crazy about the tail though and I hope it's just a gross misrepresentation.

Looks to me like they've simply played it safe. I don't know a lot about Godzilla but to me hes allways just looked like..well, a dinosaur.

Well it's not the best Godzilla design but it looks pretty cool actually. You can tell it's Godzilla.

It's miles better than the giant iguana from the 1998 movie at any rate.

It looks better from the 3/4 view than it does from the side view. The head is nicely shaped (although to small compared to the body), the big lower jaw, short snout and eyebrows give him kind of a "brutish" look. He's to beefy through the mid section and there's not enough muscle definition in the legs, they look like elephant legs. Bigger spines would have made him look a little more interesting.

Hopefully it's just a cheap or lazy toy and the film version looks better. I also hope he leans forward more when he walks, like a t-rex would.

To be honest, I don't think a lot about that creature would be intimidating, other than its size - the stumpy little feet look elephantine, not like something a terrifying destroyer of cities would be expected to have. The head appears a bit on the small side, while the tail appears slightly too thick and long. Leaning slightly further forward and having a generally more angular look would certainly make it seem more predatory.

Well, considering this is an organic being that stands as tall as a skyscraper, I have my doubts anything could really support the weight (square cube law and all that jazz), but the original Godzilla at least looks like it is distributing the weight as much as possible.

Uh it looks kinda boring, too much like the original Godzilla. I liked the 1998 one, could they come up with a more original design like that? The mosters in Pacific Rim were great, can't they Ctrl-C then Ctrl-V those?

This looks dumb, can we have the '98 godzilla back? You know, the one that looked cool and original and wasn't just playing it safe by pandering to fans of the crappy old Japanese version.

Ya, that's right, I liked that movie, and I'm tired of seeing it get shit on while we praise this piece of crap.

The original Godzilla could also shoot a giant beam of atomic energy out of his mouth. Perhaps we're taking this all a bit too seriously.

Oh Godzilla vs. Megalon, you were so awful not even an appearance from Gigan could save you. Thank goodness for the MST3K crew.
