I thought the titles tended to branch off into other ones. Nobel and Pulitzer Laureate could be equally high and I thought On The Record meant you've obtained a bit too many warnings. But I'm never right.

Why do I want my custom title to be 'Backwards Compatible'?

Oh, so they actually have people that roam around reading what other people write. I would have thought that it was much better just to have it coded.

Nah, because you can't write a program that can judge quality, only quantity. Sometimes (not often, but still), a high content post can be made with just a couple words (usually in direct response to someone, but don't just assume that to be the case), but a program would never be able to tell that.

Not that the mods scour every single post. I mean, sometimes they'll just see a bad post by themselves, but most of the time, enough people report it that it gets pushed into their moderation queue and they can see for themselves if it's worth a warning.

Most notable are [user]Neonbob[/user], [user]Sassafrass[/user] and [user]VaudevillianVeteran[/user]. Bob used to have the highest post count, until Vee took his pedestal. Now Sass and Vee just alternate all the time. Although Bob still has the trophy of 'highest post count without any mod wrath'.

Heh, I remember when the first person, Indigo Dingo, pushed past 10,000. It was such a huge deal. Of course, you don't see him around anymore because around that time, he sorta became a huge troll. It happens.

My join date says June, but believe me, I was lurking a loooong time before that. And I sometimes look up the history a bit (like the whole WarCry situation, Mobius/Empyrean, etc.)

This site has some really deep lore - the way that WarCry went down because of badges is probably my favourite.

Ah, shit, I'd forgotten about Mobius and Empyrean. Sad situation with those two. Not their bans, the other thing.

And I genuinely did not know about the Warcry situation, I never paid them much mind. Was it because of that badge on here for posting on there? I remember they complained about it, then I just stopped hearing them, but I never really noticed.

But I got to Gone Gonzo (1000) title pretty quickly I think and reached 2000 the other day.

Thanks people, but I still want to know how many character do I need to have in order not to get a warning.

An absolute minimum of six to ten words should do you fine. It may sound stupid, but I was given a warning for a whole line of words and an image in post. Typically that shouldn't happen, but a couple of sentences should keep you safe.

I wrote a one word answer to a question and in my defense it was all that was necessary to answer said question. Wish i knew that before.

Anyway, how exactly did WarCry die?

It all started with the Forum Vagabond badge. Tons of people came here to farm for badges by necroing old threads and posting low content non sensical posts.

Several senior members of War Cry spoke out against this, and John Funk came here to try and sort it out.

A notable member was banned for making a thread about why The Escapist was making War Cry such a bad place. Which sparked a massive outrage. Funk further aggro'd people by locking any thread that spoke out against him.

When the WarCry corner was set up most people on here thought it was patronising and demeaning to them and now they all left.

Oh, I remember Indigo_Dingo. The #1 Sony fanboy of the site 'till he got banned, then I had to take the helm for a bit. I remember there was a huge thread, literally dedicated to celebrating his ban. The mods did not quite appreciate that, I tell you.
